Lucas James and Shaqueil Leslie are both from Toronto, Canada, and took a short drive to attend this weekend’s YCS! Now, they’re facing off against one another in this Round 3 Feature Match! Lucas is using a Millennium Exodia Deck that runs a Fiendsmith package including the new Lacrima the Crimson Tears from Rage of the Abyss. He’s also using 3 copies of the new Heart of the Blue-Eyes, which can help him add Millennium Ankh to his hand and disrupt an opponent’s field. He’s Dueling against Shaqueil’s Vaylantz Crystal Beast Deck – a Deck that uses a unique strategy that thrives on putting monsters into the Spell & Trap Card Zone. Both strategies that these Duelists are using are unconventional, but one of them will prevail in this Round 3 Feature Match. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

James opened up Duel 1 with Triple Tactics Talent, Shield of the Millennium Dynasty, Golem that Guards the Millennium Treasures, Mulcharmy Purulia, and Sengenjin Wakes from a Millennium.

He started off the Match by activating Shield of the Millennium Dynasty’s effect and placing it into his back row. He paid 2000 Life Points to Special Summon it and add Millennium Ankh from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated the effect of Sengenjin Wakes from a Millennium to put it into his back row and Special Summoned it to his field by revealing the Ankh from his hand. He added Heart of the Blue-Eyes from his Deck to his hand with its effect. He sent his Shield and Sengenjin to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven and then used it to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem. He used Requiem’s effect to Tribute it and Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears and used Lacrima’s effect to send Fiendsmith Engraver from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Engraver by returning Moon of the Closed Heaven from his Graveyard to his Extra Deck, and then equipped Lacrima with Requiem by using the Requiem’s effect in the Graveyard. He Summoned Necroquip Princess be sending Lacrima and Requiem to the Graveyard and then discarded Heart of the Blue-Eyes from his hand to add a Millennium Ankh from his Deck to his hand. He used Necroquip Princess’s effect to draw a card. Next, he combined Necroquip with Engraver to Xyz Summon Constellar Ptolemy M7 and used its effect to return Sengenjin from his Graveyard to his hand. He activated Fiendsmith’s Tract next, adding Fabled Lurrie from his Deck to his hand. He discarded it and then used its effect to Special Summon it. Next, he sent Lurrie and M7 to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence and used its effect to return Requiem, Lurrie, and Engraver to his Deck and Summon Fiendsmith’s Desirae. He sent Sequence and Desirae to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Agnumday. He activated his Golem’s effect to put it in his back row next, and then Special Summoned it by revealing the Ankh and added a Wedju Temple from his Deck to his hand. Next, he sent his two monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Silhouhatte Rabbit and used its effect to Set Angel Statue – Azurune from his Deck to his field. He activated the Wedju Temple next and used its effect to put Sengenjin from his hand into his back row as a Continuous Spell Card, and put Maiden of the Millennium Moon from his Deck into his back row as a Continuous Spell Card. Next, he activated Millennium Ankh. He returned his Rabbit to his Extra Deck and revealed all 5 pieces of Exodia from his Deck to Summon The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate! In the End Phase, he used The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate’s effect to Set Exxod Fires of Rage from his Deck.

Leslie drew a card and James activated the effect of Lacrima in his Graveyard during the Draw Phase. Leslie Chained Called by the Grave targeting Lacrima, but James used the effect of The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate to negate it! James Special Summoned Fiendsmith’s Agnumday and then used its effect to Special Summon Desirae and equip it with the Agnumday. Leslie activated Vaylantz World – Shinra Bansho and James Chained his Maiden’s effect to Special Summon the Maiden. Shinra Bansho’s effect placed Vaylantz World – Kong Wissen into James’ Field Spell Card Zone. Next, he used the effect of Shinra Bansho to try to move Desirae into the Spell & Trap Card Zone, but James used the effect of Desirae to negate its effect, and negate the effect of the Konig Wissen on his field. Next, he Normal Summoned Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus and used its effect to place Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon from his Deck into his back row. He activated its effect by banishing it. James Chained Azurune to Special Summon the Azurune, and Leslie Special Summoned Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger and added a Rainbow Dragon from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Foolish Burial Goods to send Rainbow Bridge of Salvation from his Deck to his Graveyard, and banished it to add Divine Temple of the Snake-Eye and Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle from his Deck to his hand. Then he activated Triple Tactics Talent to take control of a monster, and James Chained Exxod Fires of Rage to destroy all of the cards on Leslie’s field. Leslie moved his Sapphire Pegasus into his Spell & Trap Card Zone since it was destroyed, and then took control of The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate! He attacked Desirae and used Exodia Incarnate’s effect to increase its ATK to 8000, matching his Life Points. He destroyed the Desirae and dropped James down to 800 Life Points. Desirae’s effect returned Sequence to the Extra Deck and sent Sapphire Pegasus to the Graveyard. In Main Phase 2, Leslie activated Divine Temple and used its effect to put Snake-Eye Ash into his back row. He Set a card to his back row and then passed his turn, returning The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate to James. James used its effect to Set Obliterate!!! Blaze.

James drew Heart of the Blue-Eyes and then entered his Standby Phase. The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate took out the last of James’ own Life Points with its effect, losing him the Duel!

The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate backfires on James, as it’s taken from him with Triple Tactics Talent and then wipes him out in the Standby Phase after it returns to him!

Duel Two

James opened up Duel 2 with Millennium Ankh, Shield of the Millennium Dynasty, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Terraforming, and Solemn Judgment. He activated Terraforming to add Wedju Temple to his hand and then activated it. He placed Shield into his back row with the Temple, allowing him to place Sengenjin from his Deck into his back row as well. He used Shield’s effect by revealing the Ankh from his hand. He Special Summoned the Shield and got another Ankh from his Deck. Next, he Special Summoned Sengenjin by revealing the Ankh and used its effect to add Golem to his hand. He sent Shield and Sengenjin to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven next, and then used Moon to Link Summon Requiem. He Tributed Requiem to Special Summon Lacrima the Crimson Tears and used her effect to send Engraver to the Graveyard. He equipped Lacrima with Requiem and sent them to the Graveyard to Summon Necroquip Princess and then Special Summoned Engraver from his Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned M7 and used its effect to return Engraver to his hand. He used Engraver’s effect to add Fiendsmith’s Tract from his Deck to his hand, then activated it to add Fabled Lurrie to his hand. He discarded Lurrie and used its effect to Special Summon it. Next, he sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. He used Sequence’s effect to Special Summon Desirae and then used Golem’s effect to place it in the back row. He revealed an Ankh to Special Summon it and added a Wedju Temple to his hand. Next, he sent Sequence and Desirae to the Graveyard to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Agnumday and then sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Silhouhatte Rabbit. He used Rabbit’s effect to Set Azurune to his field and then activated Millennium Ankh. He revealed all 5 pieces of Exodia from his Deck to once again Summon The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate! He Set Solemn Judgment and then entered his End Phase. In the End Phase, he Set Exxod Fires of Rage from his Deck to his field with the effect of The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate.

Leslie drew a card and James used his Lacrima’s effect to return it to the Deck and Special Summon Agnumday from his Graveyard. He used Agnumday’s effect to Special Summon Desirae and equip it with Agnumday. Leslie activated Forbidden Droplet by sending a Rainbow Bridge of Salvation and Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon from his hand to his Graveyard, and negated the effects of Desirae and The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate! Next, he banished Rainbow Bridge from his Graveyard to add Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus and Vaylantz World – Shinra Bansho to his hand. He activated Shinra Bansho and then replaced James’ Temple with Konig Wissen. He used Konig Wissen’s effect targeting Exodia Incarnate, and James Chained Exxod Fires of Rage to destroy Shinra Bansho. Konig Wissen’s effect resolved to move The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate into the back row and push the Azurune behind it into the Graveyard. Next, Leslie tried to Normal Summon Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus, and Leslie flipped Solemn Judgment and paid 4000 Life Points to negate its Summon! Leslie activated Rainbow Bridge next, but James negated its effect with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Leslie Set a card to his back row and passed.

James drew Lacrima and then Normal Summoned it. He used its effect to send an Engraver from his Deck to his Graveyard and then sent Lacrima to the Graveyard to Link Summon Requiem. He Tributed Requiem to Special Summon Engraver from his Deck, then Special Summoned an Engraver from his Graveyard. He equipped Requiem to Desirae with Requiem’s effect and then direct attacks from Desirae and both Engravers wiped out all 8000 of Leslie’s Life Points!

The Match is going to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Leslie started off Duel 3 by activating Deception of the Sinful Spoils.

He activated The Hallowed Azamina. James Chained Ghost Sister & Spooky Dogwood’s effect, and Leslie Special Summoned Azamina Ilia Silvia by sending Deception to the Graveyard. James gained 1900 Life Points with Spooky Dogwood’s effect. Next, Leslie activated Crystal Bond to add Sapphire Pegasus to his hand and put a Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon from his Deck into his Spell & Trap Card Zone. Then, he Normal Summoned Sapphire Pegasus and used its effect to put Ruby Carbuncle into his back row. He then banished Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon to Special Summon Topaz Tiger and James gained another 1600 Life Points. He also added Rainbow Dragon from his Deck to his hand with the effect of the Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon. Next, he Xyz Summoned Infernal Flame Banshee, giving James 1700 more Life Points, and used its effect to add Nemeses Flag to his hand. He Special Summoned it, giving 1100 more Life Points to James, and then added Archnemeses Protos to his hand with its effect. He banished 3 monsters from his Graveyard to Special Summon the Protos and used its effect declaring DARK, destroying all DARK monsters on the field and preventing more from being Summoned. He ended his turn, with James up to 17,300 Life Points.

James drew Obliterate!!! Blaze for his turn and added it to his hand of Heart of the Blue-Eyes, Right Leg of the Forbidden One, Shield of the Millennium Dynasty, and Change of Heart. He used his Heart of the Blue-Eyes’s effect to discard it and add a Millennium Ankh from his Deck to his hand. Next, he used Change of Heart to take control of Protos and used its effect to destroy all FIRE monsters and prevent more from being Summoned! He placed the Shield from his hand into his back row with its effect and then Summoned it by revealing the Ankh. He added another Ankh from his Deck to his hand and then switched Protos into Attack Position. He attacked directly and then sent both monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Moon of the Closed Heaven and ended his turn.

Leslie activated Golden Rule to Special Summon Topaz Tiger and put 2 Sapphire Pegasus into his back row. He attacked and destroyed Moon of the Closed Heaven and then ended his turn.

James drew Called by the Grave and then activated Millennium Ankh! He revealed 1 Exodia piece from his hand and 4 more from his Deck to Summon The Unstoppable Exodia Incarnate. Next, he attacked over Topaz Tiger. He used his Exodia Incarnate’s effect to increase its ATK to 16,500, and the attack over Topaz Tiger ended the Duel!
