Jose Santiago Torres, from Lowell, MA, went to the World Championship last year thanks to this very event! He’s back to try again with his Maliss Deck. He’s facing YCS Champion Mario De Micco, from Montreal, QC, playing Ryzeal with the newest Onomat monsters from Duelist Advance!
Duel 1
De Micco won the dice roll and chose to play first, with a hand of Seventh Tachyon, Ryzeal Cross, Onomatopaira, and two copies of Mulcharmy Purulia.
He started with Seventh Tachyon, revealing Number 104: Masquerade, and Santiago Torres activated Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. De Micco played Onomatopaira, discarding a Purulia, finding Dodododo Warrior and Gagaga Ganbara Knight. He Special Summoned Dodododo Warrior, sending Dodododwarf Gogogoglove to the Graveyard. He activated Dodododwarf Gogogoglove’s effect in the Graveyard, and Santiago Torres used Dominus Impulse. De Micco Special Summoned Gagaga Ganbara Knight by revealing the Gagagaga Girl in his Extra Deck. He Xyz Summoned Infernal Flame Banshee, detaching the Ganbara to put Ext Ryzeal in his hand. Ganbara’s effect then put Gogogo Goblindbergh in his hand.
De Micco Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal, sending Mereologic Aggregator to the Graveyard, and Ext put Sword Ryzeal in his hand. He Special Summoned Sword and used its effect to put Ice Ryzeal in his hand. He played Ryzeal Cross, then Xyz Summoned Ryzeal Duo Drive. He used Duo Drive, detaching a material from each of his Xyz Monsters to add Ryzeal Plasma Hole and Node Ryzeal to his hand. He Normal Summoned Gogogo Goblindbergh, and used its effect to bring Dodododwarf Gogogoglove to the field. He Special Summoned Ice Ryzeal by sending his second Purulia to the Graveyard, and Xyz Summoned Evilswarm Ouroboros! He used its effect to rip a card from Santiago Torres’s hand, and Santiago Torres conceded! He’d already spent two cards trying to interact with De Micco, and didn’t think he’d be able to play through De Micco’s imposing field after losing another to Ouroboros. Conceding here would at least keep his strategy hidden, giving him an advantage when Side Decking. De Micco can probably make an educated guess based on Dominus Impulse, though.
Duel 2
De Micco began this Duel with a hand of Sword Ryzeal, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Bonfire, Ext Ryzeal, and Dodododwarf Gogogoglove.

Santiago Torres started off with Maliss in Underground, banishing Maliss <P> Dormouse. He paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon it, and used its effect to banish Maliss <P> White Rabbit. He Special Summoned White Rabbit, and used its effect to Set Maliss <C> MTP-07. De Micco activated Mulcharmy Fuwalos, but Santiago Torres hit him with Ash Blossom. Then, Santiago Torres used Triple Tactics Talent to look at De Micco’s hand and return Ext Ryzeal to the Deck! Santiago Torres continued, using his monsters to Link Summon Splash Mage. Splash Mage brought Dormouse back to the field, and he Link Summoned Maliss <Q> Red Ransom. Red Ransom put Maliss in the Mirror in his hand. He banished Red Ransom to flip up MTP-07, adding Maliss <P> March Hare to his hand. He then paid 900 Life Points to Special Summon Red Ransom, banishing Maliss <P> Chessy Cat from his Deck. He Special Summoned Chessy Cat, and used its effect to banish March Hare and draw two cards. March Hare’s effect let it return to his hand.
Santiago Torres used Red Ransom and Chessy Cat to Link Summon Cyberse Wicckid, then Special Summoned March Hare by banishing Chessy Cat from the Graveyard, with Wicckid pointing to it. Wicckid banished Dormouse from the Graveyard to put Backup @Ignister in Santiago Torres’s hand. He Special Summoned Backup, putting Wizard @Ignister in his hand and discarding a second March Hare. He Special Summoned Wizard, bringing March Hare to the field. He used one March Hare, Backup, and Wizard to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter, then used Hearts Crypter and Wicckid to Link Summon Maliss <Q> White Binder. White Binder banished Hearts Crypter and De Micco’s Fuwalos from the Graveyards, and Santiago Torres Special Summoned Hearts Crypter. He used White Binder’s effect to Set MTP-07 from the Graveyard. He Then used Hearts Crypter’s effect to banish his own White Binder, which let him Special Summon it and draw a card. He used all his monsters to Link Summon Allied Code Talker @Ignister, which revived Red Ransom and White Binder. He Set three more cards in his back row to finish this incredible turn!
De Micco drew an Ext Ryzeal to replace the one he’d lost. He Special Summoned it by sending Mereologic Aggregator to the Graveyard. Ext’s effect activated, and he Chained Mereologic Aggregator’s to try and negate Allied Code Talker. Santiago Torres responded with Called by the Grave to banish and negate Mereologic Aggregator. Ext put a Sword Ryzeal in De Micco’s hand. Santiago Torres activated Droll & Lock Bird, then flipped up MTP-07 to banish Ext. De Micco knew there was no coming back from all of this, and conceded!
Duel 3
De Micco started the final Duel with Triple Tactics Thrust, Ryzeal Plasma Hole, two copies of Dodododo Warrior, and Ice Ryzeal. Santiago Torres didn’t hesitate to activate Mulcharmy Purulia. That allowed De Micco to activate Triple Tactics Thrust, and Santiago Torres thought a long while before activating Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. De Micco Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal, giving Santiago Torres a card thanks to Purulia. Santiago Torres Chained to Ice’s effect with Mulcharmy Fuwalos! Ice brought Star Ryzeal to the field, and Santiago Torres drew another card. Star’s effect Set Ryzeal Cross on the field, and De Micco flipped it immediately. He Xyz Summoned Ryzeal Detonator, with no monsters in the Graveyard to attach to it. He Set Plasma Hole and passed the turn, trying not to feed the Mulcharmies too much.

Santiago Torres Normal Summoned Backup @Ignister, and activated its effect. De Micco considered responding to it, in the end choosing to negate it with Ryzeal Cross. Santiago Torres Link Summoned Linguriboh, then activated another Backup from his hand. De Micco Chained Detonator’s effect targeting Linguriboh. Santiago Torres responded to that with March Hare in his hand, banishing a Chessy Cat from his hand. Linguriboh was destroyed, and Backup and March Hare hit the field. Santiago Torres paid 300 Life Points to Special Summon Chessy Cat, and De Micco flipped Plasma Hole to destroy Chessy Cat, attaching Ice Ryzeal to Detonator. Santiago Torres used his second Backup to Link Summon a second Linguriboh, then used that and March Hare to Link Summon S:P Little Knight. He used Little Knight’s effect to banish Ryzeal Cross, and passed the turn.
De Micco drew Onomatopaira. He activated Dodododo Warrior’s effect in the hand by sending Dodododwarf Gogogoglove to the Graveyard, and Santiago Torres had Dominus Impulse to negate it. De Micco played Onomatopaira next, discarding a Dodododo Warrior to add Zubababancho Gagagacoat and Gagaga Ganbara Knight to his hand. He Special Summoned Ganbara by revealing the Gagagaga Girl in his Extra Deck, and its effect let him Special Summon Zubababancho as well. He then Special Summoned Dodododwarf from his Graveyard. He stacked Zubababancho and Ganbara for Ryzeal Duo Drive. It attached Star Ryzeal as a material, Santiago Torres tried Chaining Little Knight to banish it, but De Micco destroyed it with Detonator. Duo Drive’s effect put Sword Ryzeal and Ice Ryzeal in his hand. He Special Summoned Sword, putting Ext in his hand. He Special Summoned Ext by sending Infernal Flame Banshee to the Graveyard, and Ext put Node Ryzeal in his hand. He used Ext, Sword, and Dodododwarf to Xyz Summon Evilswarm Ouroboros, and Santiago Torres offered the handshake!
Mario De Micco takes the Match with Onomat Ryzeal!
