For this Round 1 Feature Match here at YCS Pittsburgh, we have Brock Andrew Sarabyn playing the pure Yummy Deck, facing off against Demetrius Mousha Moore Jr., playing the Vanquish Soul K9 Deck. Both players are hoping to start off the tournament hot with a Round 1 victory, but only one of them can be declared the winner. Who will it be? Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Sarabyn opened the first game with Yummy☆Surprise, Droll & Lock Bird, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Dominus Purge, and Cupsy☆Yummy. 

Moore won the die roll and chose to go first! He started by activating the effect of K9-66a Jokul, Special Summoning it and K9-ØØ Lupis from hand. He considered activating the effect of Jokul to search, but was wary of Droll & Lock Bird; instead, he immediately used the two to Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper”! He then activated Ripper’s effect to search for a K9 card, but Sarabyn responded with Dominus Purge. Next, Moore Normal Summoned Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love and searched for Vanquish Soul, Start!, then activated Start! and searched for Vanquish Soul Jiaolong. He used Jiaolong as material to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher, activated Rock’s effect to add Mad Love back to hand, then Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue from hand by revealing the Jiaolong! He activated Hollie Sue’s effect, Special Summoning Vanquish Soul Razen from the Deck and searching for Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger. He then Special Summoned Borger by returning Razen to his hand, revealed Mad Love in hand to draw a card, then Special Summoned Jiaolong from hand. Finally, he activated Jiaolong’s effect, revealing Razen and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in his hand to search for Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius, then ended his turn. 

Sarabyn drew Cooky☆Yummy for turn! During the Draw Phase, Moore activated the effect of Borger to draw another card. Sarabyn started his turn by Normal Summoning Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Here, Moore Special Summoned Caesar Valius from hand by returning Hollie Sue to hand, then activated Caesar’s effect to destroy Sarabyn’s Ash Blossom. Next, Sarabyn activated Yummy☆Surprise, Special Summoning Cupsy☆Yummy from hand and activating its effect, but Moore responded with the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Sarabyn used Cupsy to Link Summon Yummy☆Snatchy and place Yummyusment☆Acroquey on his side of the field, then Special Summoned Cooky from hand and activated its effect to reduce Caesar Valius’ Attack Points by 1000. Here, Moore activated the effect of Rock of the Vanquisher, Special Summoning Mad Love from his hand. He activated its effect, returning the monster on the field with the lowest Defense Points to hand, but Sarabyn Chained the effect of Snatchy, using Snatchy and Cupsy to Synchro Summon Cupsy☆Yummy Way; Moore resolved Mad Love’s effect by returning one of his own monsters to hand. On summon, Sarabyn activated Cupsy☆Yummy Way’s effect to search for Marshmao☆Yummy and Lollipo☆Yummy and discard Droll & Lock Bird, as well as Acroquey’s effect to destroy Vanquish Soul, Start!. Sarabyn Special Summoned Lollipo☆Yummy, then used it to Link Summon another Yummy☆Snatchy. 

Next, Sarabyn activated the effect of Marshmao☆Yummy, attempting to Special Summon it; Moore negated its effect with the effect of Ripper, as Sarabyn Chained the effect of Cupsy☆Yummy Way to Special Summon Cooky☆Yummy and Cupsy☆Yummy from the Graveyard. Next, he used Snatchy and Cupsy to Link Summon Lollipo☆Yummy Way, activating its effect to Special Summon Lollipo☆Yummy and Cupsy☆Yummy from the Graveyard. He then used Lollipo to Link Summon his third copy of Yummy☆Snatchy, and here, Moore activated the effect of Lupis in the Graveyard! Sarabyn Chained the effect of Lollipo☆Yummy Way to Special Summon Yummy☆Snatchy and Lollipo☆Yummy from the Graveyard, then used Cupsy and Snatchy to Synchro Summon Lollipo☆Yummy Way, attempting to turn Caesar Valius and Lupis to face-down Defense Position. However, Moore Chained the effect of Lupis, using it and Jiaolong to Xyz Summon K9-66X “Jacks”, and returned Heavy Borger to hand to Special Summon Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius! 

Here, Sarabyn realized he didn’t have enough to continue pushing through Moore’s board, and conceded the first Duel. 

Duel 2

Sarabyn chose to go first in the second Duel, and opened with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Lollipo☆Yummy, Triple Tactics Thrust, and two copies of Yummy☆Surprise. He started by Normal Summoning Lollipo☆Yummy and using it to Link Summon Yummy☆Snatchy, then placed Yummyusment☆Mignon to his side of the field. He activated Mignon’s effect to Special Summon Lollipo back from the Graveyard; Moore attempted to respond with the effect of D.D. Crow, but Sarabyn Chained Yummy☆Surprise, Special Summoning the Lollipo back anyways! He then used Snatchy and Lollipo to Synchro Summon Cupsy☆Yummy Way, searching for Cupsy☆Yummy and Cooky☆Yummy then discarding Cooky. He activated Cupsy’s effect, searching for Marshmao☆Yummy, used Cupsy☆Yummy Way to Link Summon another Snatchy, then used Snatchy and Cupsy to Synchro Summon Lollipo☆Yummy Way and Special Summon Cupsy☆Yummy and Cooky☆Yummy from the Graveyard. 

Here, Moore activated the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being! Sarabyn Chained the effect of Lollipo☆Yummy Way, returning it to the Extra Deck, and all monsters on the field were Tributed. Sarabyn followed up by activating Triple Tactics Thrust, searching for Triple Tactics Talent. On resolution, Moore Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue from hand, then returned Hollie Sue to hand to Special Summon Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger, and used Borger’s effect to draw a card. Here, Sarabyn activated Triple Tactics Talent, revealing Moore’s hand of K9-17 Izuna, Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love, and Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue, and chose to return Mad Love to Moore’s deck. Sarabyn considered using the Primal Being Token to Link Summon Link Spider, then Special Summon the Marshmao☆Yummy from hand in order to continue his turn, but noted the Izuna in Moore’s hand, so he Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn. 

Moore began his turn by Normal Summoning K9-04 Noroi, and Sarabyn responded by activating Yummy☆Surprise, Special Summoning Cupsy☆Yummy Way from the Graveyard as Moore Special Summoned K9-66a Jokul from the Deck. He then switched Heavy Borger to Attack Position and entered the Battle Phase, careful to not activate any effects so that Sarabyn could not activate the effect of Cupsy☆Yummy Way. Realizing that he did not have any other ways to get monsters onto the field to defend his Life Points or stop Moore from establishing his board, Sarabyn conceded. 

Moore takes the match and starts off YCS Pittsburgh with a win!
