Round 4 Feature Match: Steven LaShawn Harris Jr. vs. Michael Anthony Corrao

In this Round 4 Feature Match, our Duelists are using some interesting strategies! Steven LaShawn Harris Jr. is playing Yummy K9, combining two of the more popular strategies in the game, and is hoping to capitalize on the strengths of each. Michael Anthony Corrao is playing Orcust Mitsurugi, a strategy that has seen play ever since several Orcust support cards were released in Battles of Legend: Monster Mayhem earlier this year. Both of these Duelists have a 3-0 record and are hoping to maintain their undefeated record!

Duel 1

Harris won the die roll and chose to go first! His opening hand contained K9-04 Noroi, Cupsy☆Yummy, Droll & Lock Bird, Marshmao☆Yummy, and Therion “King” Regulus. He started off by activating the effect of Marshmao☆Yummy, Special Summoning it. He then Normal Summoned K9-04 Noroi, activating its effect to Special Summon K9-66a Jokul from the Deck. He used Jokul and Noroi to Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper”, then activated Ripper’s effect; Corrao responded with the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, but Harris Chained the effect of Ripper to negate Ash Blossom’s effect! This allowed him to resolve Ripper’s effect to search for K9-66b Lantern; on resolution, Corrao activated the effect of Droll & Lock Bird

Next, Harris used Marshmao to Link Summon Yummy☆Snatchy and place Yummyusment☆Mignon to his Field Spell Zone. He then activated Mignon’s effect, Special Summoning back the Marshmao, and used Snatchy and Marshmao to Synchro Summon Lollipo☆Yummy Way, Special Summoning back both Snatchy and Marshmao from the Graveyard. He used Marshmao and Lollipo to Synchro Summon Martial Metal Marcher and Special Summon Lollipo back from the Graveyard, then Special Summoned Cupsy☆Yummy from hand. He used Cupsy and Metal Marcher to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light, then used Ripper and Lollipo to Link Summon I:P Masquerena! Finally, he Special Summoned Regulus from his hand, equipping it with Metal Marcher, and ended his turn.

Corrao began his turn by Normal Summoning Orcust Harp Horror! Here, Harris activated the effect of I:P, using it and Snatchy to Link Summon S:P Little Knight and banish the Harp Horror. Realizing that he would not be able to push through Harris’ board, Corrao conceded.

He then activated Mirror, Tributing Murakumo from hand to Special Summon Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi from hand. Corrao activated the effect of the Murakumo in his Graveyard, but Harris Chained the effect of both copies of Mulcharmy Meowls from his hand! Corrao Special Summoned Murakumo and searched for Mitsurugi Great Purification, as Harris drew Turbo Booster and Yummy☆Surprise

Corrao then used Murakumo and Habakiri to Xyz Summon Number 90: Galaxy-Eyes Photon Lord! He activated Babel, then activated the effect of Orcust Harp Horror in his Graveyard, Special Summoning Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight from his Deck and sending another Harp to the Graveyard. He used Galatea-I and Girsu to Link Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton, then returned Harp to the Deck to Set Orcust Crescendo from his Deck. Here, Harris activated the effect of Izuna in his hand, but Corrao negated it with Number 90. Finally, Corrao Set two cards to his backrow and ended his turn.

Harris drew for turn, but with the cards he had available, knew that he would not be able to break through Corrao’s board, and conceded. We’re moving on to game 3!

Harris’ opening hand contained Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, Droll & Lock Bird, Cupsy☆Yummy, and “A Case for K9”. Harris Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn, not allowing his opponent to draw any cards.

Corrao began his turn by Normal Summoning Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight and sending Orcust Harp Horror to the Graveyard. Next, Corrao banished Harp Horror from his Graveyard to Special Summon Orcust Cymbal Skeleton from the Deck, and entered the Battle Phase. Corrao attacked with Cymbal, but Harris activated Yummy☆Surprise, Special Summoning Cupsy☆Yummy from the Graveyard! Corrao attacked Cupsy with Girsu, then attacked directly with Habakiri and Murakumo. In Main Phase 2, Corrao used Galatea-I and Cymbal to Link Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton, then activated Galatea’s effect to return Orcust Harp Horror to the Deck and Set Orcustrated Babel to his field, then activated it. He used Galatea and Girsu to Link Summon Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator, banished Girsu to bring back Galatea-I, the Orcust Automaton, and used Cymbal’s effect to Special Summon back Galatea, the Orcust Automaton. He Xyz Summoned Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star using Galatea and attached it with Cymbal Skeleton as Xyz Material, then used Longirsu and Dingirsu to Link Summon Enlilgirsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight! Finally, he used Galatea-I and Habakiri to Link Summon S:P Little Knight and banish Cupsy☆Yummy from Harris’ Graveyard, and ended his turn.
