Round 13 Feature Match: Nicholas Ordonez vs. Marvin Kammerer
We’re getting close to the Top 8, and every win matters! This Feature Match brings us Nicholas Ordonez, from Las Vegas, NV, playing an @Ignister Maliss Deck. His opponent is Marvin Kammerer, here from Switzerland, using a Fiendsmith Unchained Deck featuring the TCG Exclusives from Duelist’s Advance, like Mutiny in the Sky!
Duel 1
Kammerer won the dice roll and played first. Ordonez had a hand of Mulcharmy Fuwalos; Nibiru the Primal Being; Backup @Ignister; Maliss <C> MTP-07; and… Dimension Shifter!
Kammerer started with Abomination’s Prison, and Ordonez didn’t hesitate to activate Dimension Shifter. Prison put Unchained Soul of Sharvara in Kammerer’s hand. He Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld, and Ordonez responded with Fuwalos, but Kammerer had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Tour Guide brought Unchained Twins – Aruha to the field. Sharvara destroyed Aruha to hit the field, and Aruha’s effect brought Unchained Soul of Shyama to the field. He stacked it with Sharvara for D/D/D Wave High King Caesar, and Set a back row card. Ordonez activated Nibiru, and it was negated and destroyed by Caesar.
Ordonez drew another Backup. He Normal Summoned it, adding Maliss <P> Dormouse to his hand and discarding it into banishment thanks to Shifter. He activated Dormouse’s effect, and Kammerer used Caesar’s last material to negate it. Ordonez used Backup to Link Summon Link Disciple, then Special Summoned another Backup from his hand. He used both monsters to Link Summon S:P Little Knight, banishing Caesar with its effect. Little Knight attacked over Tour Guide. He Set MTP-07 to finish.

Kammerer Normal Summoned Lacrima the Crimson Tears, activating its effect, and Ordonez responded with S:P Little Knight’s effect, trying to banish both monsters. Kammerer flipped Forbidden Droplet, sending Lacrima to the Graveyard to negate Little Knight. Lacrima’s effect put Fiendsmith Engraver in the Graveyard, and he Special Summoned it by returning Lacrima to the Deck. Engraver attacked to destroy Little Knight. In Main Phase 2, he used Engraver to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Requiem. Requiem brought Lacrima back to the field. He equipped Requiem to Lacrima, then used both cards to play Necroquip Princess. He Set one back row card.
Ordonez drew Maliss in Underground! He banished Maliss <P> White Rabbit from his Deck, then Special Summoned it. Its effect activated, and Kammerer flipped another Forbidden Droplet, sending Necroquip Princess to the Graveyard to negate White Rabbit. Ordonez let that resolve, then flipped MTP-07 to add Maliss <P> Chessy Cat to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, then Link Summoned Haggard Lizardose. He used its effect to banish Chessy Cat from the Graveyard, then Special Summoned Chessy. He Link Summoned Maliss <Q> White Binder, which banished Engraver and Requiem, plus his own Chessy. Kammerer responded with Lacrima’s effect, returning it to the Deck to Special Summon Requiem before it was banished. White Binder Set MTP-07 on the field. Before the Battle Phase, Kammerer activated Requiem’s effect to Special Summon Lacrima in Defense Position, and Lacrima sent another Engraver to the Graveyard. White Binder destroyed Lacrima in battle.
Kammerer drew, with an otherwise empty hand and field. He Normal Summoned Aruha, but Ordonez flipped MTP-07 to add Maliss <P> March Hare to his hand and banish Aruha. Kammerer considered a moment, and conceded the first Duel.
Duel 2
Ordonez began this time with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Chessy Cat, Wizard @Ignister, and two copies of Dark Ruler No More.
Kammerer started with Engraver’s effect, adding Fiendsmith’s Tract to his hand. He played Tract, and Ordonez used his Ash Blossom. Kammerer played Triple Tactics Thrust to Set Abomination’s Prison. He used Sharvara’s effect, Special Summoning it by destroying Prison. Prison let him Special Summon Shyama. He Link Summoned Unchained Soul Lord of Yama. Sharvara Set Abominable Chamber of the Unchained, and Yama returned Sharvara to the hand. He used Aruha, destroying Chamber to Special Summon it. Chamber Special Summoned Unchained Twins – Sarama. Sarama Set Chamber again, destroying Aruha. Aruha’s effect brought a Sharvara to the field.

Kammerer used Sarama and Yama for Unchained Soul of Rage. Then he revived Shyama destroying Rage. Rage’s effect Special Summoned Fiendsmith Engraver. He stacked his Unchained monsters for Caesar, then used Engraver to Link Summon Requiem. Requiem brought Lacrima into play, which sent another Engraver to the Graveyard. He equipped Requiem to Lacrima, then used both cards to play Necroquip Princess. He Special Summoned Engraver by returning the other Engraver to the Deck. He used Engraver and Necroquip Princess to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence, then used its effect to fuse Sarama and Necroquip from the Graveyard into Aerial Eater. Aerial Eater sent Fiendish Rhino Warrior to the Graveyard, which then sent Buio the Dawn’s Light to the Graveyard. He used Buio to get Mutiny in the Sky in his hand. He used Aerial Eater and Sequence to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Agnumday, which revived Engraver and equipped to it, then played Necroquip again! Mutiny let him return Requiem, Engraver, and Agnumday to bring forth Fiendsmith’s Desirae! He equipped Sequence to Desirae. He returned Mutiny to his hand, sending a Fiend to the Graveyard. He played Abomination’s Prison, getting Escape of the Unchained. He Set two cards in his back row to finish!
Ordonez drew Bystial Magnamhut. He activated Dark Ruler No More, and Kammerer flipped Chamber. He then responded to that with Desirae to negate Dark Ruler No More. Chamber brought Rage to the field. Ordonez simply played his second Dark Ruler No More! He Normal Summoned Chessy Cat, and Kammerer flipped Escape to destroy Rage and Chessy. Rage put Rhino Warrior in his hand. Ordonez activated Magnamhut, trying to banish his Chessy Cat, and Kammerer flipped Called by the Grave to banish and negate Chessy Cat! That left him with just a Wizard @Ignister and Magnamhut in hand, and he knew this Duel was over!
Duel 3
Ordonez’s opening hand this time was Bystial Baldrake, Wizard @Ignister, Cynet Mining, Dimension Shifter, and Nibiru. He activated Cynet Mining, discarding Dimension Shifter for the cost to add Dormouse to his hand. He Normal Summoned Dormouse and used it to banish White Rabbit from his Deck. He Special Summoned White Rabbit, which Set Maliss <C> TB-11. He Link Summoned Haggard Lizardose, which banished Dormouse from the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Dormouse, then Link Summoned Maliss <Q> Red Ransom. Red Ransom put Maliss in Underground in his hand. He flipped TB-11 by banishing Red Ransom, and Special Summoned Chessy Cat. He then Special Summoned Red Ransom from banishment, which also banished Dotscaper from his Deck. He Special Summoned Dotscaper.
He used Red Ransom and Dotscaper for Cyberse Wicckid, then used Chessy to Link Summon Link Disciple. Wicckid’s effect banished Chessy Cat to get Backup in his hand. He Special Summoned the banished Chessy Cat, then Special Summoned Backup, which let him add March Hare to his hand and discard it. He used everything except Wicckid to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter. He then used both monsters to Link Summon White Binder. It banished Hearts Crypter, March Hare, and TB-11 from his Graveyard. Crypter returned to the field with double ATK, and March Hare went to Ordonez’s hand.
White Binder Set Maliss <C> GWC-06 on the field. He Special Summoned Wizard from his hand, which also brought Chessy Cat back. He used Hearts Crypter, returning his banished TB-11 to banish his own White Binder. That let him Special Summon White Binder and draw another Baldrake. He used Chessy Cat’s effect, banishing March Hare to draw Ash Blossom and a second Chessy. He used Wizard, Chessy, and White Binder to Link Summon Allied Code Talker @Ignister. It brought White Binder and Red Ransom back to the field. He activated Maliss in Underground, banishing Maliss in the Mirror, which let him banish Dormouse from the Graveyard and get a March Hare in hand.
Kammerer activated the effect of Fiendsmith Engraver, finding Fiendsmith’s Tract. He activated Tract, and Ordonez used Ash Blossom to negate it. Kammerer Set a back row, then activated Aruha’s effect targeting that card. Ordonez responded with Hearts Crypter to banish the Set Abomination’s Prison before Aruha could destroy it. Kammerer Normal Summoned Aruha instead, then activated the effect of Buio the Dawn’s Light to Special Summon it. Ordonez now used Baldrake’s effect, Special Summoning it by banishing Kammerer’s Engraver. Kammerer moved to the Battle Phase, sending Aruha to attack White Binder and get destroyed. He used Aruha’s effect to Special Summon Sharvara from his Deck. In Main Phase 2, he used Sharvara and Buio to Link Summon Unchained Soul Lord of Yama. He activated all three monsters’ effects, and Ordonez responded with Baldrake, Tributing White Binder to banish Yama. Sharvara Set Chamber, Buio added Mutiny to his hand, and Yama returned Sharvara to his hand. He Set a card in his back row. Ordonez activated March Hare’s effect, Special Summoning it by banishing White Binder from the Graveyard. Kammerer responded with Sharvara’s effect, and Ordonez Tributed Red Ransom to negate it with Allied Code Talker. White Binder hit the field, and he drew Backup. White Binder then banished White Rabbit from his Graveyard along with two of Kammerer’s Fiends. White Rabbit hit the field and Set MTP-07. That was enough to guarantee this Duel for Ordonez!
