It’s Round 3, and we’re back with another Feature Match! Bryce Cloe is playing in Portland, Oregon, using a K9 Vanquish Soul Deck. He’s facing Llewelyn Slone, in the bay area of California, with Fiendsmith Radiant Typhoon!

Duel 1

Slone won the dice roll and chose to play first. He Normal Summoned Lacrima the Crimson Tears, using its effect to send Fiendsmith Engraver to the Graveyard. He Link Summoned Fiendsmith’s Requiem, then revived Engraver by putting Lacrima back in the Deck. He used Requiem’s effect to Special Summon Lacrima, and equipped Requiem to Lacrima. He used both cards to play Necroquip Princess. Then he activated the effect of another Engraver in his hand, adding Fiendsmith’s Tract to his hand. That also let him use Necroquip’s effect to draw a card. He played Tract, adding Fabled Lurrie to his hand and discarding it. He Special Summoned Lurrie, then used it and Engraver to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence. Sequence fused Lurrie, Requiem, and Engraver from the Graveyard into Fiendsmith’s Desirae. He used Sequence and Desirae to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Agnumday. He used Agnumday’s effect to revive Engraver, equipping to it. He then used Engraver and Necroquip to Xyz Summon D/D/D Wave High King Caesar.

He played Radiant Typhoon Chant, adding Radiant Typhoon Eldam to his hand. He Special Summoned Eldam, which put Radiant Typhoon Swen in his hand. He Special Summoned Swen, adding Radiant Typhoon Mandate to his hand. He Xyz Summoned Totem Bird, then Set three cards in his back row. He passed with one last card in his hand.

Cloe started his turn, and Slone used Lacrima’s effect to revive Agnumday. He then used Agnumday’s effect to Special Summon Desirae, equipping to it. Finally, he flipped up Mandate. Cloe started his turn with Stake your Soul!, revealing K9-04 Noroi, and Slone negated it with Caesar. Cloe Normal Summoned Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love, using its effect to add Vanquish Soul, Start! to his hand. He used Mad Love’s effect, revealing Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger and Noroi to return Totem Bird to the Extra Deck. He then tried to Special Summon Vanquish Soul Jiaolong, and Slone used his last Caesar material to negate and destroy it. Cloe played Start, but lost it to Slone’s Mystical Space Typhoon. Cloe returned Mad Love to his hand to Special Summon Heavy Borger, and used Borger’s effect – Cloe flipped Forbidden Droplet, sending Mulcharmy Fuwalos to the Graveyard to negate Borger. Cloe Xyz Summoned Super Starslayer TY-PHON – Sky Crisis, and its effect bounced Desirae back to the hand. TY-PHON attacked over Caesar. In the End Phase, Slone used Mandate to recycle his Quick-Play Spells and draw a card.

Slone activated The Fallen & The Virtuous, sending Albion the Branded Dragon to the Graveyard to destroy TY-PHON, then Special Summoned Radiant Typhoon Krosea! Krosea put Mystical Space Typhoon and Eldam in his hand. He Special Summoned Eldam, finding a copy of Swen. He Special Summoned Swen, which found Radiant Typhoon Manifestation. He played Manifestation, sending Radiant Typhoon Fonix, the Great Flame to the Graveyard. He attacked with his three Radiant Typhoon monsters, dropping Cloe to 2900 Life Points. He played Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy his own Mandate. That let him Special Summon Fonix from the Graveyard and attack, ending the first Duel!

Duel 2

Cloe started by Normal Summoning Noroi and activating its effect. Slone responded with Fuwalos, but Cloe had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it. Noroi brought K9-17 Izuna to the field, which sent K9-ØØ Lupis to the Graveyard. He used his monsters to Xyz Summon K9-17 “Ripper”, and detached a material to put K9-66b Lantern in his hand. He Special Summoned Lantern, reviving Noroi, and put “A Case for K9” in his hand. He used that to put an Izuna in his hand. He Special Summoned Izuna, and Special Summoned Lupis from the Graveyard. He used Lantern, Noroi, Lupis, and Izuna to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread! He drew four cards, putting three back. He used Saryuja’s effect to Special Summon Dr. Mad Love, which put Vanquish Soul, Start! in his hand. He used that to put Jiaolong in his hand. He used the effect of K9-66a Jokul to Special Summon both Jokul and Jiaolong. Jokul put another Noroi in his hand. He used Jokul and Saryuja to Link Summon S:P Little Knight, banishing Slone’s Fuwalos from the Graveyard. He Set a card in his back row, and in the End Phase, Start put Vanquish Soul Snow Devil on the field.

Slone played Radiant Typhoon Chant in the Draw Phase. Cloe Chained Anti-Spell Fragrance, but Slone Chained The Fallen & The Virtuous to destroy it. Chant put Mystical Space Typhoon in his hand, he tried to Special Summon Krosea – Cloe negated the effect with Ripper. Slone moved to the Main Phase, playing Fiendsmith’s Tract to add Lurrie to his hand and discard it. He activated Lurrie’s effect, and Cloe Chained Droll & Lock Bird. Lurrie hit the field, and Slone used it to Link Summon Requiem. Requiem brought Engraver to the field. He moved to the Battle Phase, sending Engraver to destroy S:P Little Knight. In Main Phase 2, he equipped Requiem to Engraver. He used Engraver’s effect, sending his Requiem and Cloe’s Jiaolong to the Graveyard. He played Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Start. Next, he used Engraver to Tribute Summon Krosea! Krosea’s effect put Chant and Mystical Space Typhoon from his Graveyard into his hand. He Set two cards in his back row, and passed with one card in his hand. Albion the Branded Dragon activated in his Graveyard and Set another copy of The Fallen & The Virtuous.

Cloe used Ripper to Tribute Summon Noroi, and its effect brought Jokul to the field. Slone flipped The Fallen & The Virtuous, sending another Albion to the Graveyard to destroy Jokul. Cloe used Dr. Mad Love to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher, and activated its effect to get a Vanquish Soul back. Slone responded with Mystical Space Typhoon on Cloe’s Set Snow Devil, and Cloe Chained it revealing Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion to deal 400 damage. Rock’s effect put Jiaolong in his hand. He sent Noroi to crash into Krosea, destroying both monsters. In the End Phase, Slone used Chant to add Swen to his hand. Then, he used Albion’s effect to add his third copy of The Fallen & The Virtuous to his hand.

Slone activated the effect of Mulcharmy Purulia in his Draw Phase. In the Main Phase, he Special Summoned Swen, which put Chant in his hand. He played Chant to find Eldam, and Special Summoned Eldam to add Krosea to his hand. He attempted to Special Summon Engraver by returning Requiem to the Extra Deck, and Cloe negated it with Ghost Belle. Slone used Swen and Eldam for Melomelody the Brass Djinn, and that to Link Summon Requiem. Requiem’s effect brought Lacrima to the field, and he Tribute Summoned Krosea. That let him add Radiant Typhoon Vision and Mystical Space Typhoon to his hand. He played Vision, drawing two cards and discarding The Fallen & The Virtuous. He tried to go to the Battle Phase, and Cloe activated Rock’s effect to Special Summon Jiaolong. Slone drew with his lingering Purulia effect. Slone Set a back row card and passed, unable to battle successfully due to Rock redirecting his attacks.

Cloe used Rock to get back Dr. Mad Love. He revealed it to Special Summon Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue, then Xyz Summoned N.As.H. Knight. He used it to attach Number 104: Masquerade from his Extra Deck and Slone’s Krosea as materials. Slone activated Mystical Space Typhoon on “A Case for K9”. Cloe activated Case’s effect, and Slone Chained Fuwalos and Purulia. Case’s effect Set K9-X Forced Release on the field. Cloe sent N.As.H. Knight and Rock to attack directly. Slone used Lacrima’s Graveyard effect to revive Requiem before the turn ended.

Slone used Requiem’s effect to Special Summon Lacrima from the Deck. He equipped Requiem to it, then used both cards to play Necroquip Princess. He moved to the Battle Phase, prompting Cloe to use Rock and Special Summon Dr. Mad Love. Now that Cloe had an additional monster on the field, Slone Tributed them all for The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode!

Cloe used Sphere Mode to Tribute Summon Hollie Sue, and Link Summoned a new Rock of the Vanquisher. Its effect put Hollie Sue back in his hand. In the End Phase, Slone used Lacrima’s effect to revive Requiem once more.

Slone Tributed Requiem to Special Summon Engraver from his hand. Cloe used Rock’s effect to put Jiaolong in his hand. Then he Special Summoned Hollie Sue by revealing Jiaolong, and Special Summoned Jiaolong afterward. Slone continued, equipping Requiem to Engraver. Engraver sent both Requiem and Jiaolong to the Graveyard. He used Engraver and Necroquip to Link Summon Fiendsmith’s Sequence, and its effect brought forth Fiendsmith’s Desirae. He used Sequence and Desirae to Link Summon Agnumday, and Desirae’s effect sent Hollie Sue to the Graveyard. He attacked with Agnumday, destroying Rock. Then he used Agnumday’s effect, bringing Desirae to the field and equipping to it. Desirae attacked to drop Cloe to 1400 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, he used Desirae to Link Summon Requiem, then that to bring Lacrima to the field. He Special Summoned Radiant Typhoon Meghala, and Link Summoned Wynn the Wind Charmer, Verdant! Wynn let him Special Summon Droll & Lock Bird from Cloe’s Graveyard, and he used both monsters to Link Summon S:P Little Knight.

Cloe drew and passed. In the End Phase, Lacrima’s Graveyard effect brought Agnumday back to the field. Slone sent Agnumday to attack directly and end the Match!
