Steven Santoli from Hamilton, Ontorio and Aries Alejandre from Tacoma, Washington are both currently 4-0 at YCS Vancouver, and now they’re Dueling against one another in this Round 5 Feature Match! Santoli is an accomplished Duelists who competed in the 2023 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship and has won 2 YCS tournaments, and now he’s using his K9 Vanquish Soul Deck in the hopes that it will secure him his next YCS victory. Alejandre is a YCS first-timer and he’s competing with a Yummy Deck! Despite his lack of experience in YCS tournaments, he’s on a winning streak and hopes to extend that streak into the next round. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Santoli opened up Duel 1 with K9-ØØ Lupis, Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, K9-17 Izuna, and Vanquish Soul Razen.

He Normal Summoned Razen and activated its effect, but lost out to Alejandre’s Dominus Purge. Next, he Link Summoned Rock of the Vanquisher and used its effect to return Razen to his hand. He ended his turn with no other play.

Alejandre activated Yummyusment★Acroquey and then Normal Summoned Cooky☆Yummy. He sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy and used its effect to replace his Yummyusment★Acroquey with a Yummyusment☆Mignon from his Deck. Santoli activated his Rock’s effect to Special Summon a monster and Chained Hollie Sue’s effect to Special Summon the Hollie Sue. Rock Special Summoned Razen from his hand with its effect and Santoli added Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger from his Deck to his hand with Razen’s effect in a new Chain. Santoli used Holly Sue’s effect by revealing an EARTH and DARK monster from his hand and took control of Snatchy. Alejandre activated Triple Tactics Talent to draw 2 cards next and then conceded, unable to build a field with his Snatchy no longer on his side.

Duel Two

Alejandre started Duel 2 off by activating Obedience Schooled to Special Summon Lollipo☆Yummy, Cooky☆Yummy, and Cupsy☆Yummy from his Deck.

Santoli then Special Summoned Hollie Sue from his hand by revealing Razen and used Hollie Sue’s effect by revealing Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay and Vanquish Soul Razen from his hand. He Special Summoned a Razen from his Deck. He then used Razen’s effect to add Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius from his Deck to his hand. He used Razen’s effect to destroy Lollipo and then Special Summoned Caesar Valius by returning Hollie Sue to his hand. Alejandre sent Cupsy to the Graveyard to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy next and used its effect to place Yummyusment★Acroquey from his Deck into his Field Spell Zone. Santoli used his Caesar Valius’s effect by revealing a FIRE, DARK, and EARTH monster from his hand and destroyed the Yummyusment★Acroquey. Next, Alejandre used his 2 monsters to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way and used its effect to add Cupsy☆Yummy and Cooky☆Yummy from his Deck to his hand and discard Obedience Schooled. He Special Summoned Cupsy from his hand next and used its effect to add Yummy☆Surprise from his Deck to his hand. He sent Cupsy★Yummy Way to the Graveyard to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy next and then sent Yummy★Snatchy and Cupsy to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Lollipo★Yummy Way. He used its effect to Special Summon Cooky☆Yummy and Cupsy★Yummy Way from his Graveyard and then Tuned Cupsy★Yummy Way and Cooky☆Yummy together to Synchro Summon THE Star Ham. He used THE Star Ham’s effect to Special Summon Cooky☆Yummy from his Graveyard by discarding Called by the Grave. He used Cooky’s effect to destroy Caesar Valius and then Set 2 cards to his back row. He used the effect of Yummyusment★Acroquey in his Graveyard and returned it to his Deck by returning a Snatchy and Cupsy from his Graveyard to his Deck along with it. He ended his turn.

Santoli drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and added it to his hand of Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, 2 copies of Razen, and 2 copies of Hollie Sue. He sent Razen to the Graveyard to try to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher and Alejandre paid 4000 Life Points to flip Solemn Judgment and negate its Summon. Next, Santoli revealed Razen from his hand to Special Summon Hollie Sue with its effect, and Alejandre Chained Lollipo★Yummy Way’s effect to return it to the Extra Deck and Special Summon Snatchy and Cupsy from his Graveyard. Santoli activated his Phantazmay’s effect in his hand, and then Chained Hollie Sue’s effect by revealing Phantazmay and Razen. Alejandre Chained his Snatchy’s effect to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way. Santoli Special Summoned Phantazmay from his hand and drew a card, then Special Summoned Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love from his Deck with Hollie Sue’s effect. In a new Chain, Mad Love’s effect activated and Alejandre Chained Cooky★Yummy Way’s effect to try to put Hollie Sue and Mad Love face-down, and Santoli Chained Phantazmay’s effect by discarding Ash Blossom to negate the effect of Cooky★Yummy Way. Alejandre Chained the effect of Cooky★Yummy Way to return it to the Extra Deck and Special Summon Snatchy and Cupsy. The Chain resolved, so after Alejandre Special Summoned Cupsy and Snatchy, Santoli added Vanquish Soul, Start! from his Deck to his hand. In a new Chain, Alejandre used the effects of Cupsy and Snatch to draw a card and place Yummyusment★Acroquey from his Deck into his Field Spell Zone. Next, Alejandre paid 100 Life Points to use Snatchy’s effect to Synchro Summon, and Santoli Chained Mad Love’s effect to return Cooky to Alejandre’s hand. Alejandre sent Cupsy and Snatchy to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way and then used the effects of Cupsy and Yummyusment★Acroquey. He destroyed Mad Love thanks to Yummyusment★Acroquey and added Cupsy and Lollipo to his hand before discarding The Black Goat Laughs with Cupsy★Yummy Way. Next, Santoli activated Vanquish Soul, Start! and Normal Summoned Razen. He activated its effect, but Alejandre activated Dominus Purge from his hand to negate its effect and destroy it. Santoli entered his Battle Phase and attacked Cupsy★Yummy Way with Phantazmay. Alejandre flipped Yummy☆Surprise to Special Summon Cooky and used Cooky’s effect to lower Phantazmay’s ATK by 1000. Santoli stopped the attack, and attacked Cooky to destroy it with Mad Love instead. In Main Phase 2, Santoli sent Mad Love to the Graveyard to Link Summon Rock of the Vanquisher and used its effect to Special Summon from his hand. Alejandre Chained Cupsy★Yummy Way’s effect to Special Summon Snatchy and Lollipo from his Graveyard. Santoli Special Summoned Hollie Sue with Rock’s effect and Alejandre used Lollipo’s effect to banish the Caesar Valius in Santoli’s Graveyard. Next, Santoli used the effect of his Vanquish Soul, Start! targeting Hollie Sue and added Vanquish Soul Heavy Borger from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Heavy Borger by returning Hollie Sue to his hand and used its effect to inflict 1500 points of damage to Alejandre’s Life Points. Next, Santoli Xyz Summoned Vanquish Soul Rocks by using Rock of the Vanquisher as an Xyz Material. Alejandre banished The Black Goat Laughs from his Graveyard declaring S:P Little Knight with its effect and Santoli Set Vanquish Soul Snow Devil from his Deck with the effect of Vanquish Soul, Start! in the End Phase.

Alejandre drew a card and Santoli activated Heavy Borger’s effect by revealing Hollie Sue and Razen from his hand to inflict 1500 more points of damage to Alejandre’s Life Points, dropping him down to 800 Life Points. Then, Santoli flipped Vanquish Soul Snow Devil revealing Mad Love, Razen, and Hollie Sue from his hand. He destroyed all monsters on the field and inflicted 1800 more points of damage, wiping Alejandre out of the Duel!

Aries Alejandre halves his own Life Points with Solemn Judgment in the second Duel, allowing Steven Santoli to win by inflicting damage with card effects! Santoli advances with a 5-0 record at YCS Vancouver using his K9 Vanquish Soul Deck!
