Dana Schultz from Cleaveland, Ohio and Anthony Pinto, from Toronto, Canada have never made it into Day 2 of a YCS before, but they’re looking to change that this weekend. Now, these two Duelists with 4-2 records are facing off in our Round 7 Feature Match! Schultz is using an Onomat Ryzeal Deck. Although Onomat Ryzeal strategies have fallen out of favor with many Duelists ever since Archnemeses Protos was added to the Forbidden List, Schultz is hoping to show players that the Rank 4 strategy is still viable. Pinto is using a Branded Dracotail Deck, which is one of the favored strategies in this weekend’s tournament. He included 2 copies of The Fallen & The Virtuous in his Main Deck, which was recently made available in THE CHRONICLES DECK: The Fallen & The Virtuous (All-Foil Edition). It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Pinto started off Duel 1 by Normal Summoning Dracotail Lukias and activated its effect, but lost out to Schultz’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, he activated Ketu Dracotail to add Dracotail Faimena from his Deck to his hand, prompting Schultz to activate the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. He activated Faimena’s effect in his hand next, fusing the Ash Blossom in his hand with the Lukias on his field. He Fusion Summoned Dracotail Arthalion and then used the effects of Arthalion and Lukias. He returned Ash Blossom to his hand with Arthalion and Set Rahu Dracotail from his Deck with Lukias’s effect. Next, he flipped Rahu and fused Urgula from his Deck with Fallen of Albaz from his hand to Summon Dracotail Gulamel. He used Urgula’s effect to Set Dracotail Flame from his Deck to his field and then used the effect of Urgula in his Graveyard to return it to his Deck and add Faimena from his Graveyard to his hand. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Schultz drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and added it to his hand of Dodododo Warrior and 2 copies of Ice Ryzeal. He Special Summoned Dodododo Warrior from his hand by sending Onomatokage from his Deck to his Graveyard, prompting Pinto to flip The Fallen & The Virtuous. He sent Albion the Branded Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to target the Warrior and destroy it. Next, Pinto Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal and activated its effect, but lost out to the effect of Pinto’s Ash Blossom. Schultz Special Summoned an Ice from his hand by sending Ash Blossom from his hand to his Graveyard next, and then combined his two copies of Ice Ryzeal to Summon Infernal Flame Banshee. On its Summon, Pinto activated Faimena’s effect in his hand and Chained Gulamel’s effect to destroy the Banshee. Pinto fused Gulamel and Arthalion to Summon Secreterion Dragon. In the End Phase, he Set The Fallen & The Virtuous from his Deck with the effect of the Albion he sent to the Graveyard earlier in the turn.

Pinto activated the effect of his Secreterion Dragon to Special Summon Lukias from his Graveyard and return Arthalion from his Graveyard to his Extra Deck. He used Lukias’s effect to add a Faimena from his Deck to his hand and then used Faimena’s effect to fuse Mululu in his hand with Lukias in his Graveyard and Summon Arthalion. He used the effect of Arthalion, plus the effects of Mululu, Lukias, and Gulamel in his Graveyard. With no cards in his hand or on his field, Schultz conceded as soon as he saw the Gulamel Special Summoned back to Pinto’s field.

Duel Two

Schultz opened up Duel 2 with Nemeses Flag, Crossout Designator, Dodododwarf Gogogoglove, and 2 copies of Ice Ryzeal.

He Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal and activated its effect to Special Summon Star Ryzeal from his Deck. He activated Star’s effect to Set Ryzeal Cross from his Deck to his Field Spell Zone and then flipped it face-up. He Special Summoned another Ice from his hand by sending the Dodododwarf Gogogoglove to the Graveyard and then combined his 3 monsters to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive. He activated its effect to detach 2 Xyz Materials from it and add Ext Ryzeal and Sword Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Ext from his hand by sending Vallon, the Super Psy Skyblaster from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard, and used Ext’s effect to add Node Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned Sword from his hand next and then Special Summoned Node Ryzeal from his hand. He used the effect of Node to send Ext to the Graveyard and Special Summon Star Ryzeal, then combined Star with Node to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator. He used Detonator’s effect to attach Vallon from his Graveyard to his Detonator as an Xyz Material. Next, he used Duo Drive and Sword as Xyz Materials to Summon Eclipse Twins. He activated the effect of Cross to return 2 Ryzeal cards from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw Dodododo Warrior and then Special Summoned the Warrior by sending Onomatokage from his Deck to his Graveyard. He used Onomatokage’s effect to Special Summon it from his Graveyard and then combined it with Dodododo Warrior to Summon Infernal Flame Banshee. He detached an Xyz Material from the Banshee to activate its effect and add Ext Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand and then Set Crossout Designator before ending his turn.

Pinto Normal Summoned Lukias and used its effect to add Dracotail Faimena from his Deck to his hand. He activated Faimena’s effect to fuse Mululu and Droll & Lock Bird from his hand with Lukias on his field. He Summoned Arthalion and activated the effects of Arthalion (targeting Faimena in the Graveyard and Detonator on the field) as Chain Link 1, Lukias as Chain Link 2, and Mululu as Chain Link 3. Schultz Chained Detonator’s effect to destroy Arthalion. Mululu’s effect resolved to Set Rahu Dracotail from Pinto’s Deck and negate Detonator’s effect, then Lukias’s effect resolved to Set Dracotail Flame from the Deck. Arthalion’s effect tried to resolve next, but Schultz negated it with Ryzeal Cross by detaching an Xyz Material from his Detonator. Next, Schultz activated Branded Fusion. He fused Fallen of Albaz with Dracotail Phryxul to Summon Albion the Branded Dragon. He activated the effects of Albion and Phryxul in Chain, Setting Dracotail Sting from his Deck with Phryxul and using Albion’s effect to banish Mululu and Lukias from his Graveyard and Special Summon Secreterion Dragon. He used Secreterion Dragon’s effect to put Albaz on the bottom of his Deck and Special Summon Phryxul and then used Phryxul’s effect to Special Summon Faimena from his Graveyard and return the Faimena to his hand. Next, he activated Rahu Dracotail to fuse Urgula from his Deck with Faimena from his hand and Special Summon Gulamel. He activated the effects of Faimena, Urgula, and Gulamel. He destroyed Ryzeal Cross with Gulamel, Set Ketu Dracotail with Urgula’s effect before destroying a face-down Crossout Designator, and Set Rahu Dracotail with Faimena’s effect. Next, he flipped Ketu Dracotail to add Dracotail Pan from his Deck to his hand and fused it with Albion to Summon Filia Regis. He used Pan’s effect to Set Ketu Dracotail from his Deck and destroy Eclipse Twins. Next, he attacked the Banshee with Gulamel to destroy it and attacked Detonator with Secreterion Dragon, not realizing that his Dragon was weakened by 200 ATK due to the banished Mululu and Lukias. The Secreterion Dragon was destroyed in battle, and Pinto lost 200 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Pinto activated Filia Regis’s effect to banish Detonator and return the Filia Regis to the Extra Deck. Schultz used the Vallon’s effect after it was sent to the Graveyard to destroy a face-down Dracotail Sting. Next, he activated the effect of Urgula in his Graveyard to return Urgula to his Deck and add a Faimena from his Graveyard to his hand. In the End Phase, he used the effect of the Albion in his Graveyard to Set The Fallen & The Virtuous from his Deck to his field.

Schultz drew Onomatopaira and then banished Onomatokage from his Graveyard to return Vallon and Duo Drive from his Graveyard to his Extra Deck. He Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal from his hand next by sending Vallon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard. He used Vallon’s effect to destroy Dracotail Flame and used Ext’s effect to add Sword Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned the Sword and used its effect to add Ice Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Onomatopaira by discarding Ice from his hand and he added Dodododo Warrior and Gagaga Ganbara Knight from his Deck to his hand. He Special Summoned the Warrior from his hand by sending Onomatokage from his Deck to his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Onomatokage from his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Dodododwarf Gogogoglove from his Graveyard next and then combined his Warrior with Gogogoglove to Xyz Summon Gagagaga Girl. Pinto activated The Fallen & The Virtuous by targeting the Gagagaga Girl and sending Titaniklad the Ash Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard, destroying Gagagaga Girl. Next, Schultz returned his banished Detonator to the Extra Deck to Special Summon Nemeses Flag from his hand and used the Flag’s effect to add Archnemeses Eschatos from his Deck to his hand.  He combined Sword with Ext to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator next. He activated its effect to attach Eclipse Twins to it as an Xyz Material, and Pinto conceded.

The Match is going to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Pinto started off Duel 3 by Normal Summoning Dracotail Lukias and using its effect to add Dracotail Faimena from his Deck to his hand.

He activated Faimena’s effect to fuse Lukias and Droll & Lock Bird from his hand. He Summoned Arthalion and then used the effects of Arthalion and Lukias. He returned Faimena and Droll to his hand with Arthalion and Set Ketu from his Deck to his field with the effect of Lukias. Next, he sent Lukias to the Graveyard to Link Summon Spirit with Eyes of Blue. He sent Spirit and Arthalion to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres and then activating Rahu Dracotail; but Schultz Chained the effect of Retaliating “C” from his hand and Special Summoned it! Pinto fused Mululu from his Deck with Faimena from his hand to Special Summon Gulamel from his Extra Deck, and both Fusion Materials were banished due to the effect of Retaliating “C”. Next, he flipped Ketu Dracotail to add Phryxul from his Deck to his hand. He Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Schultz drew Called by the Grave and added it to his hand of Nemeses Flag, Ext Ryzeal, Super Polymerization, and Seventh Tachyon. He activated Seventh Tachyon by revealing Number 104: Masquerade from his Extra Deck and added Ice Ryzeal from his Deck to his hand before placing Ext on the top of his Deck. He Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal and used its effect to Special Summon Star Ryzeal. He activated Star’s effect to Set Ryzeal Cross from his Deck and then flipped it face-up. Next, he combined Star, Ice, and Retaliating “C” to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive. Pinto flipped The Fallen & The Virtuous to target Cross and send Albion from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard in order to destroy Cross. He Tributed Seals to activate its effect next, but Schultz Chained Called by the Grave to banish the Seals and negate its effect. Schultz used Duo Drive’s effect to add Ext and Sword from his Deck to his hand, prompting Pinto to use the effect of Droll & Lock Bird. Schultz Special Summoned Ext from his hand by sending Vallon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Nemeses Flag from his hand by returning Seventh Tachyon from banishment to his Deck. He Set Super Polymerization and then ended his turn.

Pinto Normal Summoned Phryxul and used its effect to Special Summon Lukias from his Graveyard and return Phyrxul to his hand. He used Lukias’s effect to add Faimena from his Deck to his hand and then used Faimena’s effect. Schultz activated Super Polymerization by discarding Sword from his hand. He quickly realized there was no way to fuse Pinto’s monsters together, and was instead forced to fuse his own Nemeses Flag with Duo Drive to Summon Mudragon of the Swamp. Faimena’s effect resolved to fuse Pan with Phryxul and Summon Arthalion.  Pinto resolved the effects of Pan, Phryxul, and Arthalion, then activated Rahu Dracotail to Summon another Arthalion. Moments later, direct attacks from Gulamel, Lukias, and both copies of Arthalion wiped out all of Schultz’s Life Points!
