All the Dracotails have been eliminated, except for one – Jesse Kotton fights on as the final Dracotail Duelist! Kotton’s got too many titles to list, but the one that matters today is YCS Champion of Vancouver 2023. He’s looking to repeat that victory today, but he’s got to go through Jason Yuan and his Yummy Deck! Kotton actually defeated Yuan at the last YCS Vancouver, so this is Yuan’s chance to get him back!

Duel 1

Yuan won the dice roll and played first. Kotton had a hand of Dracotail Lukias, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, and two copies of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

Yuan Normal Summoned Cupsy☆Yummy, activating its effect. Kotton responded with Ash Blossom. On the resolution of the Chain, Kotton also activated Fuwalos’s effect. Yuan Link Summoned Yummy★Snatchy, letting Kotton draw another Ghost Ogre. Yuan used Snatchy’s effect, and Kotton used Ghost Ogre to destroy it in response. Snatchy put Yummyusment☆Mignon on the field. He played Yummy☆Surprise to Special Summon Snatchy from the Graveyard, then used Mignon to Special Summon Cupsy from the Graveyard in Defense Position. He Set the remaining three cards in his back row to finish.

Kotton drew Dracotail Mululu. He Normal Summoned Lukias, and Yuan responded with Infinite Impermanence. He then Chained Snatchy’s effect, and Kotton responded with Ghost Ogre to destroy Snatchy. Lukias attacked Cupsy. In the Damage Step, Yuan used Forbidden Droplet, sending Dominus Purge to the Graveyard to weaken Lukias and keep Cupsy on the field.

Yuan used Cupsy to Link Summon a new Snatchy. He used Mignon’s effect to bring Cupsy back to the field once more, and Cupsy’s effect was negated by Kotton’s Ash Blossom. Yuan used his monsters to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way. Its effect put Cooky☆Yummy and Lollipo☆Yummy in his hand, and he discarded Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!. He Special Summoned Cooky, using its effect to reduce Lukias’s ATK. Then he used Cupsy★Yummy Way to Link Summon his third Snatchy, and tuned that to Cooky for Lollipo★Yummy Way. Its effect brought Cooky and Snatchy back to the field with their effects negated. He Special Summoned Lollipo from his hand, and it shuffled an Ash Blossom back into Kotton’s Deck. He moved to the Battle Phase, sending his Mignon powered Yummys to attack and end the first Duel!

Duel 2

Kotton started the second Duel, beginning with a hand of Dracotail Flame, Dracotail Horn, Rahu Dracotail, Dracotail Lukias, and Dracotail Faimena.

He Normal Summoned Lukias and activated its effect, and Yuan negated it with Infinite Impermanence. Kotton played Rahu, and Yuan had two copies of Mulcharmy Fuwalos! Rahu fused Faimena from the hand with Dracotail Urgula from the Deck, into Dracotail Arthalion. He had Arthalion return Lukias from his field to the hand, and Faimena and Urgula each Set a copy of Ketu Dracotail. He then used Urgula’s effect, returning it to the Deck to put Faimena in his hand. He flipped up a Ketu, adding Dracotail Pan to his hand. He Set his Trap Cards and passed the turn.

Yuan Normal Summoned Lollipo, declining to use its effect yet. He Link Summoned Snatchy, and activated its effect. Kotton responded with Dracotail Horn, returning Snatchy to the Extra Deck, then putting Ketu on the bottom of his Deck to draw Nibiru the Primal Being! Snatchy’s effect resolved, placing Yummyusment☆Mignon on the field. Yuan played Yummy☆Surprise next, and Kotton responded with Faimena’s effect. He fused Arthalion and Pan into Dracotail Gulamel, and then Surprise brought Lollipo to the field. In a new Chain, Lollipo targeted Arthalion in the Graveyard, and Pan activated as Chain Link 2, with Gulamel targeting Mignon as Chain Link 3. The Field Spell was destroyed, Kotton Set a copy of Rahu Dracotail and destroyed Lollipo, and Arthalion was returned from the Graveyard to the Extra Deck. Yuan played another Surprise, returning Mignon from the Graveyard to his hand. He played Obedience Schooled, and Kotton flipped up Dracotail Flame to negate it – Yuan conceded, with every play shut down!

Duel 3

Yuan played first in the final Duel. Kotton had a hand of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, Rahu Dracotail, and two copies of Kashtira Fenrir.

Yuan played Obedience Schooled, bringing Cupsy☆Yummy, Lollipo☆Yummy, and Cooky☆Yummy to the field with their effects negated. He used Cupsy to Link Summon Snatchy, and used its effect to put Yummyusment☆Mignon on the field. He used Mignon to Special Summon Cupsy, and Chained Snatchy’s effect to Synchro Summon, tuning it to Lollipo for Cupsy★Yummy Way. He activated Cupsy’s and Cupsy★Yummy Way’s effects. He added Lollipo and Cupsy to his hand, discarded Lollipo, and then added Yummy☆Surprise to his hand. He used Cooky to Link Summon Snatchy, tuning it to Cupsy for Lollipo★Yummy Way. It brought Cupsy and Lollipo back again, negated. He used Cupsy and Lollipo★Yummy Way to Synchro Summon THE Star Ham, discarding Cooky to revive Cupsy and treat it as a Tuner. He used Lollipo to Link Summon his third copy of Snatchy, and Set two cards in his back row to finish.

Kotton drew Nibiru the Primal Being… a turn late. He Special Summoned Fenrir, and Yuan activated Snatchy’s effect. Kotton Chained Ghost Ogre, and Yuan Chained Cupsy★Yummy Way, but Kotton Chained Ghost Belle! Yuan played Yummy☆Surprise as Chain Link 5! Surprise brought a new Snatchy to the field. Ghost Belle negated Cupsy★Yummy Way, and Ghost Ogre destroyed the first Snatchy. Finally, the original Snatchy’s effect let Yuan tune his Cupsy to THE Star Ham for Herald of the Arc Light (since Cupsy was treated as a Tuner due to THE Star Ham’s effect). Kotton moved to the Battle Phase, sending Fenrir to attack and destroy the Herald. In Main Phase 2, Kotton played Rahu, fusing the second Fenrir in his hand with Dracotail Urgula from his Deck, into Dracotail Arthalion. He had Arthalion return his Ghost Belle to his hand, and Urgula Set Ketu Dracotail on the field while destroying Yuan’s Set Dominus Purge. Kotton played the new Ketu, adding Dracotail Lukias to his hand, then fusing it with Arthalion for Dracotail Gulamel. Lukias’s effect Set Dracotail Flame, and Gulamel’s effect destroyed Snatchy. Urgula’s effect put Lukias back in his hand, and he Normal Summoned it to add Faimena to his hand.

Yuan Normal Summoned Cupsy and activated its effect to put Surprise in his hand. Kotton activated Fenrir’s effect, banishing Cupsy face-down. Yuan played Triple Tactics Talent to look at Kotton’s hand, but Kotton responded with Dracotail Flame, negating the spell while putting Rahu on the bottom of his Deck and drawing Fuwalos. Yuan played Triple Tactics Thrust next, getting Obedience Schooled! He activated it to Special Summon Cupsy, Lollipo, and Cooky with their effects negated. He played Surprise next, trying to Special Summon, and Kotton used Ghost Belle – Yuan revealed his last card in hand, Called by the Grave to negate Ghost Belle! Surprise brought Snatchy back to the field! He used Snatchy’s effect to find a Field Spell, and Kotton responded with Nibiru the Primal Being!

The field was cleared, and Yuan was given a 9200/8200 Primal Being Token in Defense Position. Snatchy’s effect resolved, putting Yummyusment★Acroquey on the field. In a new Chain, Arthalion returned to the field. Yuan used the Graveyard effect of Mignon, putting itself, Cupsy, and Snatchy back in the Deck and Extra Deck.

Kotton drew Dracotail Pan. He Normal Summoned Fuwalos, using it and Nibiru to Link Summon Cross-Sheep. Gulamel returned to the field, triggering Cross-Sheep’s effect to Special Summon Lukias. He activated Lukias’s effect, then Chained Gulamel’s effect to destroy the Primal Being Token! Kotton had a clear field to attack and end the Match!
