Michael M. from Washington, D.C. and Luis H. from Texas were the winners of this weekend’s Dragon Duel tournaments for young Duelists. Michael won today’s tournament, and Luis won yesterday’s event. As a result, they earned the honor of facing off against one another today in a Match that will determine the ultimate Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend. Michael is using a Mitsurugi Yummy Deck and Luis is using a Yummy Deck without the Mitsurugi cards. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Michael started off Duel 1 by activating Mitsurugi Prayers in the Draw Phase by Tributing Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji from his hand.

Luis Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring’s effect and Luis Chained Crossout Designator to negate the Ash Blossom’s effect by banishing an Ash Blossom from his own Deck. Michael added Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Prayers and the used his Tributed Saji’s effect to add Mitsurugi Ritual from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Mitsurugi Ritual to Summon a monster from his hand and Luis Chained the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Michael Special Summoned Habakiri from his hand by Tributing Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi from his Deck and then activated the effect of Murakumo, but lost out to Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion. Michael sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon S:P Little Knight, allowing Luis to draw a card with Fuwalos’s effect, and then ended his turn.

Luis drew Cooky☆Yummy on his first turn and added it to his hand of Triple Tactics Talent, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones. He activated the Hornet Drones in his Standby Phase to Summon a Sky Striker Ace Token and then used the Token as a Link Material to Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari. He used Kagari’s effect to return Hornet Drones to his hand and then activated it to Summon another Token. He Special Summoned Cooky☆Yummy from his hand and activated its effect to try to lower Little Knight’s ATK by 1000, but Michael Chained his Little Knight’s effect to banish Cooky and Little Knight until the End Phase. Luis activated Triple Tactics Talent next, sending the last card in Michael’s hand – Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring – back to Michael’s Deck. Michael immediately conceded, realizing he was defeated.

Luis takes the first victory of the Match with his Yummy Deck!

Duel Two

Michael started off the second Duel by activating Sales Ban declaring Droll & Lock Bird. He then activated the effect of Habakiri by revealing it from his hand. He Special Summoned Saji from his Deck and Tributed it. He activated the effect of his Tributed Saji but lost out to Luis’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, Michael activated Mitsurugi Prayers by Tributing Habakiri from his hand. He added Murakumo from his Deck to his hand and then used the effect of the Tributed Habakiri to add Mitsurugi Mirror from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated the Mirror to Special Summon Habakiri from his Graveyard by Tributing Murakumo from his field, then used Murakumo’s effect to add Mitsurugi Great Purification from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Cupsy☆Yummy next and used its effect to add Yummy☆Surprise from his Deck to his hand. He sent Cupsy to the Graveyard to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy and then used Snatchy’s effect to place Yummyusment☆Mignon in his Field Spell Zone. He used the effect of Yummyusment☆Mignon to Special Summon Cupsy from the Graveyard and then Tuned Cupsy with Snatchy to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way. He used the effect of Cupsy★Yummy Way to add Cooky☆Yummy and Marshmao☆Yummy from his Deck to his hand and discard the Marshmao. He activated Surprise to Special Summon Marshmao from his Graveyard and used Marshmao’s effect to return Surprise from his Graveyard to his hand. He sent Cupsy★Yummy Way to the Graveyard to Link Summon Snatchy and Tuned Snatchy with Marshmao to Synchro Summon Lollipo★Yummy Way. He used Lollipo★Yummy Way’s effect to Special Summon Marshmao and Cupsy from his Graveyard and then Tuned Marshmao with Lollipo★Yummy Way to Synchro Summon Martial Metal Marcher and used its effect to Special Summon Lollipo★Yummy Way from his Graveyard. Next, he Summoned Cooky☆Yummy from his hand and Tuned it with the Marcher to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light. Next, he sent Lollipo★Yummy Way to the Graveyard to Link Summon Snatchy and Set 2 cards to his back row.

Luis drew Nibiru, the Primal Being and added it to his hand of Triple Tactics Talent, Cooky☆Yummy, and Yummy☆Surprise. He Summoned the Droll & Lock Bird and Michael used Snatchy’s effect to Tune Snatchy with Cupsy and Synchro Summon Cooky★Yummy Way. He used Cooky’s effect to put Droll & Lock Bird face-down. Next, Luis activated Triple Tactics Talent, but Michael negated its activation by Tributing Herald of the Arc Light. He used the Herald’s effect to add Habakiri from his Deck to his hand. Luis Set a card to his back row and then entered his End Phase. In the End Phase, Michael flipped Yummy☆Surprise to Special Summon Cupsy☆Yummy from his Graveyard and used Cupsy’s effect to add Marshmao from his Deck to his hand.

Michael Normal Summoned Marshmao and used its effect to return Surprise from his Graveyard to his hand. He then entered his Battle Phase. Cupsy attacked and destroyed the face-down Droll & Lock Bird, and then Marshmao, Habakiri, and Cooky★Yummy Way attacked directly to drop Luis down to 200 Life Points. He activated Surprise to Special Summon Lollipo★Yummy Way from his Graveyard next, but it couldn’t attack directly due to Surprise’s effect! In Main Phase 2, he Link Summoned Salamangreat Almiraj. Then he used Almiraj and Cupsy as Link Materials to Summon S:P Little Knight. He targeted Luis’s face-down Surprise to banish it with Little Knight’s effect, and when Luis Chained it, Michael negated its effect with Mitsurugi Great Purification by Tributing Habakiri. Next, Michael activated the effects of the Habakiri and the Mirror in his Graveyard. He returned Mirror to his Deck, then added it to his hand with Habakiri’s effect and Special Summoned the Habakiri. He activated the Mirror to Summon Murakumo from his Graveyard by Tributing Habakiri. He Set a card to his back row and then tried to leave his Main Phase, but Luis activated the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being! Michael Chained Little Knight’s effect to banish Little Knight and Cupsy★Yummy Way until the End Phase and then Nibiru hit the field along with a Primal Being Token, Tributing all face-up monsters! The Tributed Murakumo’s effect activated and it Special Summoned itself back to the field and Michael added Prayers to his hand. Michael used the Primal Being Token as a Link Material to Summon Link Spider and then Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Luis drew Bystial Baldrake next turn, but it wasn’t enough! He made a couple of plays and then conceded, realizing he couldn’t win.

The Match is going to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Luis opened up Duel 3 with Yummyusment★Acroquey, Yummy☆Surprise, Anti-Spell Fragrance, and 2 copies of Cooky☆Yummy.

He Normal Summoned Cooky and Michael activated the effect of Mulcharmy Fuwalos from his hand. Luis Link Summoned Snatchy and used its effect to place Yummyusment☆Mignon from his Deck into his Field Spell Zone. He used Yummyusment☆Mignon’s effect to Special Summon Cooky from his Graveyard and then Michael activated the effect of a second Fuwalos. Luis Set 2 cards to his back row and then ended his turn.

Michael drew a card and Luis flipped Anti-Spell Fragrance. Luis Normal Summoned Cupsy and activated its effect. Luis Chained Snatchy’s effect and Tuned his monsters together to Synchro Summon Cooky★Yummy Way. Michael added Marshmao to his hand with Cupsy’s effect and then Cooky★Yummy Way’s effect activated to put Cupsy face-down. Michael activated the effect of Habakiri in his hand next, and Luis Chained his Synchro Monster’s effect to return it to the Extra Deck and Special Summon Snatchy and Cooky. Michael resolved Habakiri’s effect to Special Summon Saji and Tribute the face-down Cupsy. Michael activated Saji’s effect as Chain Link 1 and Luis Chained Snatchy’s effect as Chain Link 2 to place Yummyusment★Acroquey from his hand into his Field Spell Zone. Michael added Mitsurugi Ritual to his hand with Saji’s effect. He entered his Battle Phase and tried to attack, but Luis used Snatchy’s effect to Synchro Summon Cupsy★Yummy Way. He used its effect to add Marshmao☆Yummy and Cupsy☆Yummy from his Deck to his hand and discard the Marshmao. Michael Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Luis drew Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! and then Special Summoned Cupsy☆Yummy from his hand. He used its effect to add Lollipo☆Yummy from his Deck to his hand and then returned Yummyusment☆Mignon from his Graveyard to his Deck along with Cooky and Marshmao by using Mignon’s effect. He sent Cupsy to the Graveyard to Link Summon Snatchy and then Special Summoned Lollipo☆Yummy from his hand. He used its effect to return a Fuwalos in Michael’s Graveyard to his Deck and then Tuned Snatchy with Lollipo☆Yummy to Synchro Summon Lollipo★Yummy Way. He used its effect to Special Summon Cupsy and Lollipo☆Yummy from his Graveyard and then sent Cupsy to the Graveyard to Link Summon Yummy★Snatchy. He used Snatchy’s effect to place Yummyusment☆Mignon from his Deck into his Field Spell Zone and then entered his Battle Phase. He flipped his face-down Yummy☆Surprise that he had Set on his previous turn. He Special Summoned a Snatchy from his Graveyard, and used that Snatchy to attack Saji and destroy it in battle. Finally, Luis’s remaining 4 monsters – each boosted by 2500 ATK due to the effect of Yummyusment☆Mignon – wiped out all of Michael’s Life Points!

Luis H. is the Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend here at YCS Pittsburgh! He’s taking home a trophy as well as a Super Rare Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon prize card!
