We’ve got another Genesys Qualifier final, with a Starlight Rare on the line! These two Genesys Duelists have already earned their spot in the Genesys Invitational tomorrow. We’ve got Siming Yang, from Santa Clara, CA, playing Exosisters! He’s facing Darren Li, from Los Angeles, CA, using Artmages! These two strategies require no points for the primary themes, leaving plenty of room for personal touches off the points list.

Duel 1

Yang won the dice roll and began with Ichiki Sayore-Hime, Exosister Vadis, Droll & Lock Bird, and two copies of Seventh Tachyon.

Yang played Seventh Tachyon, revealing Number 104: Masquerade to put Exosister Martha in his hand and putting the second Tachyon on top of his Deck. He used Martha’s effect, Special Summoning it and Exosister Elis. He used the effect of Ichiki Sayore-Hime, Normal Summoning it and adding Thunder King Rai-Oh to his hand. He stacked Elis with Ichiki for Exosister Kaspitell, adding another Elis to his hand. He Special Summoned Elis, then Xyz Summoned Exosister Mikailis. Its effect put Exosister Carpedivem in his hand. He then Xyz Summoned Exosisters Magnifica, Set Vadis, activated Carpedivem, and Normal Summoned Rai-Oh.

Li activated Artmage Vandalism -Assault-. He then activated Artmage Graflare’s effect, Special Summoning it and Setting Artmage Varnish -Alteration-. Yang used Magnifica to banish Graflare, and Li conceded! The Rai-Oh was just too much for him to overcome.

Duel 2

Yang started this time with Dark Hole, Carpedivem, Exosister Returnia, Exosister Pax, and Elis.

Li started with Fusion Deployment, revealing Artmage Diactorus to Special Summon Medius the Pure from his Deck. Medius’s effect Special Summoned Artmage Power Patron. He used its effect to fuse both monsters into Diactorus. Power Patron’s effect put Artmage Pact -Awakening- in his hand. He played Artmage Academic Arcane Arts Acropolis, then used its effect, discarding Awakening to add Artmage Litera to his hand. He Special Summoned Litera and returning Awakening to his hand. He then used Acropolis’s effect again, discarding Awakening to add Artmage Finmel to his hand. He Special Summoned it to draw a card. He used Acropolis yet again, discarding Called by the Grave to add Graflare to his hand, and he Special Summoned that and Set Artmage Masterwork -Succession- with its effect.

Yang drew Exosister Irene. He played Pax, adding Martha to his hand. He played Carpedivem, then activated Dark Hole, forcing Diactorus to negate it. Yang activated Martha’s effect, Special Summoning it and Elis. He Xyz Summoned Mikailis, then used Carpedivem’s effect naming Artmage Masterwork -Succession-. Li Chained Graflare to destroy Carpedivem. Then Li used Finmel’s effect to negate Mikailis, and Yang responded with Mikailis to banish Li’s Set Super Polymerization. Li Chained it, discarding a Power Patron to fuse Graflare with Mikailis into Mudragon of the Swamp. He then used Power Patron’s effect, adding another Acropolis to his hand. Yang Normal Summoned Irene, and Li banished Awakening from the Graveyard to destroy Irene. With no other plays, Yang conceded the second Duel!

Duel 3

Yang began the final Duel with Seventh Tachyon, Martha, Elis, and two copies of Droll & Lock Bird.

He played Seventh Tachyon, revealing Masquerade again to add Ichiki to his hand, putting the second Droll on top of his Deck. He Special Summoned Martha, which brought Elis from the Deck. He used Ichiki’s effect to Normal Summon it, then added Thunder King Rai-Oh to his hand. He stacked Ichiki with Elis for Kaspitell, activating its effect to add another Martha to his hand. He Special Summoned Elis from his hand, then Xyz Summoned Mikailis. Its effect put Vadis in his hand. He used both his monsters to play Magnifica, then Set Vadis. Finally, he Normal Summoned Rai-Oh to finish.

Li played Ultimate Slayer! He sent Mereologic Aggregator to the Graveyard to send Magnifica back to the Extra Deck! Aggregator then negated Rai-Oh! He played Fusion Deployment, revealing Diactorus to Special Summon Medius the Pure. Medius brought Artmage Power Patron to the field. He used Power Patron’s effect, fusing both monsters into Diactorus, and Power Patron’s effect put Artmage Vandalism -Assault- in his hand. Yang activated Droll & Lock Bird. Li used Litera’s effect, and Yang responded with Vadis to Special Summon Irene and Sophia. Litera’s effect resolved, Special Summoning it and returning Power Patron to his hand. Yang tried using his Exosister effect, since a card left Li’s Graveyard, and Li responded with Super Polymerization to fuse the Exosisters into Garura, Wings of Resonant Life! He sent Diactorus and Garura to attack directly, dropping Yang to 3300 Life Points. Then, he Normal Summoned Power Patron.

Yang drew Carpedivem, with Martha as his only other card. He played Carpedivem, and Diactorus negated it. Yang used Martha’s effect, bringing an Elis to the field. Li responded with Power Patron’s effect, fusing Diactorus and Litera into Nerva the Power Patron of Creation! With its effect, he destroyed Yang’s Exosisters and ended the Match!
