In this round’s Feature Match, we have Walid Ben Abbes, playing the Dracotail Deck, facing off against Clifton Land, piloting his trusted Ryzeal Deck. These two Duelists each have an 8-2 record going into Round 11; they still have a chance to make it into the Top 8, but they’ll each need to win their remaining rounds and have solid tiebreakers in order to make it!

Duel 1

Land won the die roll and chose to go first! He opened with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Ice Ryzeal, Mulcharmy Fuwalos, and two copies of Seventh Tachyon. He started by Normal Summoning Ice Ryzeal, but when he activated its effect, Abbes activated the effect of Effect Veiler! Land then activated Seventh Tachyon, searching for Ext Ryzeal and returning Mulcharmy Fuwalos to the Deck. He Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal by sending Ryzeal Duo Drive to the Graveyard and searched for Sword Ryzeal. Land used Ext and Ice to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive, and attached Duo Drive from the Graveyard to it as a material.

Here, Abbes activated the effect of Dracotail Faimena from his hand! He used Nibiru, the Primal Being and Dracotail Pan to Fusion Summon Dracotail Arthalion. He activated Arthalion’s effect to add Effect Veiler and Nibiru, the Primal Being back to hand, as well as Pan’s effect to Set Ketu Dracotail from the Deck and destroy Land’s Duo Drive. Land chose to end his turn without being able to establish a board!

Abbes started by activating Ketu Dracotail, but Land Chained the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Abbes followed up by activating Rahu Dracotail. With no ways to interact with the opponent and defend his Life Points, Land conceded.

Duel 2

Land chose to go first again, opening with Ext Ryzeal, Anti-Spell Fragrance, Seventh Tachyon, Called by the Grave, and Star Ryzeal. During the Standby Phase, Abbes activated the effect of Mulcharmy Purulia, but Land responded with Called by the Grave, negating Purulia’s effect! Land activated Seventh Tachyon, searching for Ice Ryzeal and returning Star Ryzeal to the Deck. He Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal and Special Summoned Star Ryzeal, then activated Star’s effect to place Ryzeal Cross to the field. He used Star and Ice to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive, then Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal and searched for Sword Ryzeal by sending another Ryzeal Duo Drive from his Extra Deck to the Graveyard. Next, Land Special Summoned Sword Ryzeal and searched for another copy of Ice, then used Ext and Sword to Xyz Summon Infernal Flame Banshee! He activated Banshee’s effect, searching for Nemeses Flag, then activated Duo Drive’s effect, detaching a material from it and Banshee to search for Node Ryzeal and Ryzeal Plasma Hole

Land used the effect of Cross, returning Ice and Ext to the bottom of the Deck and drew Solemn Warning! He Special Summoned Ice from hand by discarding Flag, then used Ice and Banshee to Xyz Summon Eclipse Twins. From there, he Special Summoned Node Ryzeal and activated its effect, sending Twins to the Graveyard to Special Summon Sword Ryzeal. Finally, he used Node and Sword to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator and attached Eclipse Twins to it as material, Set 3 cards to his backrow, and ended his turn.

During Abbes’ Standby Phase, Land activated Anti-Spell Fragrance! Abbes began his turn by activating the effect of Dracotail Faimena; Land didn’t respond, but on resolution, chose to negate Faimena’s effect with Ryzeal Cross by detaching a material from Detonator. Abbes then Normal Summoned Dracotail Lukias and searched for another copy of Dracotail Faimena. He Set a card to his backrow and ended his turn.

Land drew Dodododo Warrior for turn. He started by activating the effect of Ryzeal Duo Drive, detaching two materials from Ryzeal Detonator to search for Ice Ryzeal and Ext Ryzeal. He Special Summoned Ext Ryzeal by sending Vallon, the Super Psy Skyblaster to the Graveyard, destroying Abbes’ face-down Ketu and searching for Sword Ryzeal. Land used Cross’ effect to return Node and Ice to the Deck and draw a copy of Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion! He Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal, Special Summoning Node Ryzeal from the Deck, then used Ice and Ext to Xyz Summon Number 60: Dugares the Timeless. He activated the effect of Dugares, Special Summoning Flag from the Graveyard, then activated Flag’s effect to search for Archnemeses Protos! He Special Summoned Protos by banishing Star, Banshee, and Vallon from his Graveyard. In response to the summon, Abbes activated the effect of Dracotail Faimena, but Land negated it with Solemn Warning! Unable to push through Land’s board, Abbes conceded, and we’re moving on to game 3.

Duel 3

Abbes chose to go first in game 3! He Special Summoned Kashtira Fenrir, activating its effect to search for another Kashtira Fenrir. He then activated Branded Fusion, sending Fallen of Albaz and Dracotail Phryxul from his Deck to the Graveyard to Fusion Summon Albion the Sanctifire Dragon! He activated Phryxul’s effect, Setting Rahu Dracotail from his Deck to the Field, then activated it, using Dracotail Lukias from the hand and Dracotail Urgula from the Deck to Fusion Summon Dracotail Arthalion! With their effects, he Set Ketu Dracotail and Dracotail Flame to his backrow and added Phryxul back to hand. He Normal Summoned Phryxul, Special Summoning Dracotail Lukias from the Graveyard and returning Phryxul to hand, then activated Lukias’ effect to search for Dracotail Pan. Abbes then activated the face-down Ketu, searching for Dracotail Mululu. He activated the effect of Dracotail Faimena, using Mululu and Lukias to Fusion Summon Dracotail Gulamel, then Set Dracotail Horn from the Deck to his backrow. Finally, he activated Urgula’s effect, returning it to the bottom of the Deck and adding Dracotail Faimena back to hand, then ended his turn.

Land opened with Sword Ryzeal, Nemeses Flag, Pot of Prosperity, Triple Tactics Talent, and Seventh Tachyon, and drew Node Ryzeal for turn! He began by activating Pot of Prosperity, banishing 6 cards from his Extra Deck, but Abbes Chained Dracotail Flame, negating Prosperity, returning Rahu to the bottom of his Deck, and drawing a card. Next, Land activated Seventh Tachyon, searching for Ext Ryzeal and returning Nemeses Flag to the top of the Deck. He Special Summoned Ext by sending Mereologic Aggregator to the Graveyard, negating Fenrir’s effect with Aggregator and searching for Sword Ryzeal, then Special Summoned Sword and searched for Ice Ryzeal. Here, Abbes activated the effect of Albion the Sanctifire Dragon, Special Summoning Dracotail Mululu to Land’s field and Fallen of Albaz to his own, then activated Albaz’s effect, discarding Kashtira Fenrir to fuse his Albaz and Land’s Mululu to Fusion Summon Khaos Starsource Dragon! He used Starsource Dragon’s effect to destroy Sword and Ext, as well as Mululu’s effect to Set Rahu Dracotail to his backrow.

From there, Land activated Triple Tactics Talent, choosing to look at his opponent’s hand, and chose to return Dracotail Faimena to the opponent’s Deck! He then Special Summoned Node Ryzeal, and discarded Sword Ryzeal to Special Summon back Sword from the Graveyard. Here, Abbes activated Dracotail Horn, returning his own Starsource Dragon to the Extra Deck, and Chained the effect of Gulamel to destroy Node Ryzeal

With the last card in his hand, Land Normal Summoned Ice Ryzeal! He activated its effect to Special Summoned Star Ryzeal and Set Ryzeal Cross from the Deck. However, on resolution, Abbes activated the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being, Tributing all monsters on the field, leaving Land with only a Primal Being Token. Land activated the face-down Cross, returned Node Ryzeal and Ext Ryzeal to the Deck, and drew.. Infinite Impermanence! He Set it to his backrow in the same column as Abbes’ Rahu and ended his turn.

Abbes started his turn by activating the Rahu, but Land Chained Infinite Impermanence, negating the effect of Abbes’ Nibiru, but more importantly the Rahu that was in its column. However, Abbes still had multiple cards in hand! He Normal Summoned Dracotail Lukias and activated its effect. With no ways to stop Abbes from establishing a board, Land conceded.

With that, Abbes moves on with a 9-2 record here at YCS Anaheim!
