Round 11 Feature Match: Kylar Price vs. Jamie Hunter
The Top 8 approaches, and we’ve got two contenders for this Feature Match! From Missouri, we have Kylar Price playing an innovative Lunalight Dracotail Deck. He’s found a way to blend the two Fusion strategies into a cohesive Deck. His opponent is Jamie Hunter, playing from Sheffield, England, with a Vanquish Soul K9 Deck! The winner here will have an excellent shot at the Top 8.
Duel 1
Price won the dice roll, and began by Normal Summoning Dracotail Lukias. Its effect put Dracotail Faimena in his hand, and he followed up with Ketu Dracotail to also add Dracotail Mululu to his hand. He activated Faimena’s effect, and Hunter responded with Mulcharmy Fuwalos. Price fused Lukias with Mululu and his own Fuwalos, into Dracotail Arthalion. Hunter drew thanks to his Mulcharmy. Arthalion targeted the two Dracotails in Price’s Graveyard, and Lukias and Mululu also activated. Hunter responded with Bystial Druiswurm, banishing Mululu. Price’s effects Set Rahu Dracotail and Dracotail Flame on the field, and he added Faimena from his Graveyard to his hand.
Hunter now used Vanquish Soul Hollie Sue’s Quick Effect, revealing Vanquish Soul Dr. Mad Love to Special Summon the Hollie Sue. He then used Hollie Sue’s effect to revealing Dr. Mad Love and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, letting him Special Summon Vanquish Soul Razen. Razen put Vanquish Soul Caesar Valius in his hand. Razen’s effect destroyed Arthalion. He Special Summoned Caesar by returning Mad Love. Then, he used Caesar Valius’s effect to destroy Price’s Set Rahu Dracotail! Price had been totally cut off from his intended line of play, and knew he would be picked apart on Hunter’s turn – he conceded here.

Duel 2
Price started with Ketu Dracotail, prompting Hunter to use Ash Blossom. Price responded with Called by the Grave to negate Ash Blossom, letting his Ketu put Lukias in his hand. He Normal Summoned Lukias, adding Faimena to his hand. He used Faimena’s effect next, fusing Lukias and Droll & Lock Bird into Arthalion. Lukias Set Rahu, and Arthalion returned Faimena to his hand. He activated Rahu, fusing Faimena with Dracotail Urgula from his Deck into Dracotail Gulamel. Faimena and Urgula Set Dracotail Flame and Dracotail Horn. He used Urgula’s effect to get Faimena back in his hand. Next, he activated Lunalight Masquerade!
Hunter exclaimed his surprise, before activating K9-17 Izuna. He Special Summoned it, and sent K9-ØØ Lupis to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Lupis from the Graveyard, using it and Izuna to Link Summon K9-17 “Ripper” in Defense Position (safe from Dracotail Horn). Price continued, using Masquerade’s effect to send Lunalight Yellow Marten to the Graveyard. Hunter negated Yellow Marten’s effect with Ripper. Price finished the turn by Special Summoning Yellow Marten, returning Masquerade to his hand.
Hunter Normal Summoned Dr. Mad Love, which put Vanquish Soul, Start! in his hand. He used Ripper’s last material to add K9-66a Jokul to his hand. He activated K9-X Forced Release targeting Ripper, and Price responded with Horn targeting his own Arthalion. He could have targeted Mad Love, but probably wanted the card draw and didn’t want to risk his target getting returned with a Vanquish Soul from the hand. Hunter Chained to Horn with Mad Love, revealing another Mad Love to Chain block the Gulamel. Price now Chained Flame to negate Forced Release. Forced Release was negated and Price drew a card, Mad Love reduced Gulamel’s ATK, and finally Arthalion was returned to the Extra Deck and Price drew again.
Hunter continued his turn, activating Jokul’s effect revealing Vanquish Soul Jiaolong. Price Chained Faimena, then Chained Gulamel to destroy Dr. Mad Love. Price fused Gulamel with Lunalight Gold Leo for a new Arthalion, then Jokul and Jiaolong hit the field. In a new Chain, Arthalion returned Jiaolong to the hand. Hunter Special Summoned Lupis from his Graveyard, then used Jokul’s effect to find K9-66b Lantern. He stacked Lupis and Jokul for K9-66X “Jacks”, detaching a material to destroy Yellow Marten. He used Lantern’s effect to Special Summon itself and Izuna, and Izuna sent K9-04 Noroi to the Graveyard. Lantern put “A Case for K9” in his hand. He played that to add a new Izuna to his hand. He switched Ripper to Attack Position, and finally moved to the Battle Phase with a 900 ATK boost for his team thanks to Case. He sent Jacks to attack over Arthalion. Ripper, Lantern, and Izuna attacked directly to end the Match!

Jamie Hunter takes this one with Vanquish Soul K9!
