Team Ares consists of Kevin Rodrigues, Matthieu Bricard, and Pierre Burgals. They’re playing Artmage K9, Mitsurugi, and @Ignister Maliss, respectively.

Team Chasing Dreams consists of Lorenzo Muselli, Tom Kleinegriber, and Philip Weidinger. They’re running K9 Vanquish Soul, Lunalight, and Azamina Mitsurugi.

Both teams exchanged pleasantries as they took their seats and started shuffling up. 

Duel One

Burgals won the dice roll and chose to start the Duel. He started with Backup @Ignister, Bystial Druiswurm, Bystial Baldrake, Wizard @Ignister, and Gold Sarcophagus.

Burgals activated Gold Sarcophagus and banished Maliss <P> Dormouse from his Deck. He activated its effect. After Special Summoning Dormouse, Burgals activated its effect and banished Maliss <P> White Rabbit. He activated White Rabbit and Weidinger Chained Mulcharmy Fuwalos! Burgals Special Summoned White Rabbit, activated its effect, and Set Maliss <C> MTP-07 from his Deck.

Burgals Normal Summoned Backup @Ignister and used its effect to add a Maliss <P> March Hare, and he discarded Wizard from his hand. Burgals then used Backup, White Rabbit, and Dormouse to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Red Ransom! He activated Red Ransom’s effect and added Maliss in the Mirror to his hand.

Burgals activated Maliss <C> MTP-07 by banishing his Red Ransom, he added a Maliss <P> March Hare to his hand, and then activated Red Ransom’s effect. He Special Summoned Red Ransom and banished a Maliss <P> Chessy Cat from his Deck! Burgals activated Chessy Cat and Special Summoned it. Then, he used Chessy Cat’s effect and banished the March Hare from his hand to draw Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion and a Backup @Ignister. He activated and added back March Hare, then Special Summoned it by banishing his MTP-07. 

Burgals then used all his monsters to Link Summon Maliss <Q> Hearts Crypter. He Set Maliss in the Mirror and then ended his turn.

Weidinger drew to start his turn and activated WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils in the Draw Phase. He added Diabellstar the Black Witch to his hand and then activated Radiant Typhoon Vision, drew 2 cards, and discarded Super Polymerization. 

Weidinger looked over his field and then moved to his Main Phase and Special Summoned Diabellstar the Black Witch by sending Mitsurugi Great Purification to the Graveyard. He activated Diabellstar’s effect, and Burgals Chained Maliss in the Mirror to try and negate Diabellstar. Weidinger Chained Super Polymerization and used Diabellstar and Hearts Crypter to Fusion Summon Mudragon of the Swamp. Burgals banished his March Hare and Weidinger Set Deception of the Sinful Spoils to the field. Burgals then activated and added back his March Hare.

Burgals activated his March Hare to try and Special Summon it to the field! He banished Maliss in the Mirror, which he then activated to Special Summon back his Hearts Crypter and added Chessy Cat to his hand.

Weidinger activated Deception’s effect and sent his Mudragon to the Graveyard, Burgals Chained his Hearts Crypter effect, and Weidinger Chained Forbidden Droplet! He sent a WANTED to the Graveyard to negate the Hearts Crypter and added The Hallowed Azamina to his hand.

Weidinger activated Hallowed Azamina and Special Summoned Azamina Ilia Silvia. He then activated the effect of WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils in his Graveyard and tried to put Diabellstar on the bottom of the Deck, Burgals Chained Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion! Weidinger paused for a moment and then activated Azamina Ilia Silvia to negate the Belle! He drew from the WANTED effect, but didn’t draw anything he could use, and conceded!

Burgals wins the first Duel in our Top 4 match!

Duel Two

Weidinger chose to start the second Duel. He Normal Summoned Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Aramasa, and used its effect to add Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi. After the search, Burgals activated Droll & Lock Bird!

Weidinger looked over his hand for a moment and then activated Mitsurugi Ritual to Ritual Summon from his Deck, Burgals Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it Ritual Spell. Weidinger activated Habakiri and Special Summoned Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi, then Tributed it and added back his Mitsurugi Ritual He activated it again and Burgals Chained Retaliating “C”!

Weidinger Tributed Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi from his Deck and Ritual Summoned Habakiri. Then, he Link Summoned S:P Little Knight with Aramasa and Habakiri. He Set a card and ended his turn.

Burgals drew Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion and looked at the other two cards in his hand: Maliss <C> MTP-07 and Nibiru, the Primal Being. 

He Set MTP-07 and ended his turn.

Weidinger drew to start his turn and went into the Battle Phase, and had S:P Little Knight attack and destroy Retaliating “C”.

In his Main Phase 2, Weidinger Special Summoned Diabellstar the Black Witch by getting rid of his own Forbidden Droplet. He activated Diabellstar and grabbed Deception of the Sinful Spoils, then immediately activated the card.

Weidinger banished Diabellstar to Special Summon Dark Magician of Destruction! He activated its effect and added Magicians’ Souls to his hand. Weidinger then used Deception’s effect and traded his Dark Magician of Destruction for The Hallowed Azamina. He then activated and Special Summoned Magicians’ Souls by sending his other Diabellstar from the Deck to the Graveyard. Weidinger activated The Hallowed Azamina, Burgals Chained his Maliss <C> MTP-07, but Weidinger Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring!

Weidinger Special Summon Azamina Mu Rcielago and activated its effect to add WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils. He then activated The Hallowed Azamina’s effect and shuffled back his Mu Rcielago to add back his Hallowed. Weidinger activated The Hallowed Azamina again, he tried to Chain WANTED, but Burgals Chained Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion!

He activated the effect of WANTED in his Graveyard and drew a card, then ended his turn.

Burgals drew Maliss <P> March Hare, he looked over his hand and then ended his turn.

Weidinger drew to start his turn and activated Radiant Typhoon Vision. He drew two cards and discarded Called by the Grave. In the Main Phase, Weidinger Normal Summoned Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Aramasa, and activated its effect to add Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi. 

Going into the Battle Phase, Weidinger attacked directly with both Aramasa and S:P, then ended his turn.

Burgals drew Bystial Baldrake and Normal Summoned March Hare. He Link Summoned Link Disciple. Burgals activated Baldrake and tried to banish his March Hare. Weidinger Chained his S:P Little Knight and banished Disciple. Burgals’ Baldrake hit the field, and Burgals added back his March Hare.

In the Battle Phase, Burgals sent Baldrake into the Souls, then went to his End Phase and got his Disciple back to the field.

Weidinger went straight into his Battle Phase and sent his Little Knight into Link Disciple. He Set a card and ended his turn.

Burgals drew Maliss in Underground and activated it! He banished Maliss <P> Dormouse and activated its effect. Weidinger Chained his S:P Little Knight and banished the Baldrake. Dormouse hit the field, and then Burgals used its effect to banish a Maliss <P> Chessy Cat. He activated Chessy Cat and Special Summoned it to the field. When Chessy Cat hit the field, Weidinger activated Super Polymerization! He Fusion Summoned Garura, Wings of Resonant Life!

At the end of Burgals’ turn, Baldrake and S:P came back to the field.

Weidinger activated Mitsurugi Prayers in his Draw Phase. He Special Summoned Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi, and added back the Mitsurugi Ritual from his banishment with Kusanagi.

In the Main Phase, Weidinger activated Mitsurugi Ritual, and Burgals activated Maliss <P> March Hare and Special Summoned it by banishing his Maliss <P> Dormouse. Weidinger Tributed his Aramasa and Kusanagi to Ritual Summon Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi! He activated Murakumo’s effect, Burgals Chained Baldrake, then Dormouse, Weidinger Chained Forbidden Droplet!

Before the Chain could resolve, Burgals conceded the second duel!

Before they could finish siding for their third and final Duel, both of Burgals’ teammates won their match!

With that, Team Ares is moving on to the finals here at TEAM YCS Las Vegas!
