Krocsko’s Blackwing Deck strives to achieve a perfect balance of powerful monsters and strong Spell and Trap Cards. Many of this Deck’s plays are familiar to Blackwing players, are are examples of why this Deck is so popular.

His 3 copies of “Black Whirlwind” allow Krocsko to pull the Blackwings he needs out of his Deck as he needs them. He can quickly do damage to his opponent by Special Summoning his Blackwings to do battle, and send “Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow” from his hand to his Graveyard to boost their ATK if needed.

“Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor” showed its strength at the SHONEN JUMP Championship in Orlando, where Decks using Vayu placed first and second at the event. Krocsko can remove his “Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor” from his Graveyard to swarm the field with Blackwing Synchros like “Blackwing Armor Master” and “Blackwing Armed Wing” to attack for fast and furious damage. Even his Level 8 “Blackwing – Silverwind the Ascendant” can be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck with Vayu’s effect, by removing “Blackwing Armor Master” and Vayu from the game.

Silverwind can also be Synchro Summoned the standard way by Tuning together “Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North” and two copies of “Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow.” If Krocsko has two copies of Kalut in his hand and a “Black Whirlwind” on the field, he can Summon a Kalut and search his Deck for Blizzard with the effect of “Black Whirlwind.” During his opponent’s next turn, he can protect his Kalut by dropping his second one from his hand when his opponent attacks. Then, by Summoning Blizzard on his following turn and Special Summoning the Kalut he pitched, Krocsko will be able to Tune together both copies of Kalut with his one copy of Blizzard to Synchro Summon “Blackwing – Silverwind the Ascendant.” Quite a combo!

Once Silverwind the Ascendant is on the field, he gives Krocsko 3 important advantages:
1. A 2800 ATK monster.
2. The next time a Blackwing would be destroyed by battle, Silverwind protects it from being destroyed.
3. If Silverwind is Synchro Summoned properly, it can destroy 2 opponent’s monsters with less than 2800 ATK – although Silverwind can’t attack that turn if this ability is used.

As you can see, Silverwind is a very powerful addition to the Blackwings’ Synchro arsenal and should make a big splash here today.

Krocsko also plays 1 copy of “My Body as a Shield” to protect his Blackwings. If he Summons a Blackwing with “Black Whirlwind” on the field and his opponent flips “Bottomless Trap Hole,” normally Krocsko wouldn’t get to search with Black Whirlwind since his monster is removed destroyed first. But if Krocsko activates “My Body as a Shield” to protect his Blackwing, the monster will stay on the field and he will be able to get his search with “Black Whirlwind’s” effect.

Krocsko’s 3 copies of “Icarus Attack” allow him to Tribute Blackwings to get rid of any threats his opponent may present, or clear the way for quick direct attacks with his Blackwing monsters. With 17 Blackwings in his Deck, Krocsko has no trouble activating any of copies of “Icarus Attack” he may draw.

The release of Hidden Arsenal also gives Krocsko’s Deck a huge boost. Blackwing Decks like Krocsko’s can Synchro Summon with ease. When Krocsko Summons Blizzard to the field, he can Special Summon a Kalut with its effect, then Synchro Summon “Ally of Justice Catastor,” or he can Special Summon a Level 4 Blackwing to Synchro Summon “Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier.” “Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame” can also Special Summon Vayu from the Deck when it destroys a monster in battle, letting Krocsko Summon a Level 5 Synchro Monster like Catastor. Catastor can be difficult for Lightsworn and Gladiator Beast Duelists to deal with since both decks run very few DARK monsters, so easy access to Catastor will give Krocsko an edge in those Duels. With Brionac in play, Krocsko can discard cards to get all of his opponent’s Synchro monsters off of the field, making Brionac a powerful weapon against Decks heavily dependent on their own Synchro monsters, like other Blackwing Decks and Zombie Decks.

While Krocsko’s Main Deck looks very familiar to those who have been following Blackwings, the new Synchro Monsters “Blackwing – Silverwind the Ascendant,” “Ally of Justice Catastor,” and “Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier” will cause Krocsko to play his Deck unlike any previous competitor.
