Fur-Flinging Fortress

“Super-Nimble Mega Hamster” is a defensive wall in two different ways. First, its 1800 DEF will stop attacks from popular monsters like “Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame,” “Dimensional Alchemist,” “Elemental Hero Stratos,” and more. Second, once it blocks an attack and is flipped in battle, its Special Summon effect lets you bring out another monster from your Deck to block another attack. Many of the Beasts that Mega Hamster can Summon happen to be especially good on defense, too.

Bring out “Moja” and your opponent will have to make a tough choice. If they attack “Moja” you’ve blocked a strike that would have hit your Life Points, and “Moja’s” effect will let you return any Level 4 Beast-Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand. That’ll let you reuse useful Beasts like “Rescue Cat” or “Giant Rat.” If Mega Hamster was destroyed, you can even return the Hamster to your hand and do it all over again.

If your opponent controls several attackers, or you’re low on Life Points, try using Mega Hamster to Summon “Nimble Momonga” instead. The Hamster will take the first attack, you’ll Summon Momonga, and if your opponent attacks Momonga, you’ll get to Special Summon 2 more. You can block up to 4 attacks and gain as many as 3000 Life Points.

Since Mega Hamster Summons your Beast face-down, it can also set you up with some great Flip Effect Monsters. If your opponent has lots of cards in hand, “Des Koala’s” Flip Effect can deal 400 damage for each. You could also Summon “Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter,” letting you destroy any one of your opponent’s cards when Ryko’s flipped.

Super-Nimble Synchros

“Super-Nimble Mega Hamster” offers more than just defense – it also helps you put together some strong aggressive plays. Since it’s Level 4 and can Special Summon monsters from your Deck, it’s great to use as Synchro Material. But unlike cards like “Gravekeeper’s Spy,” Mega Hamster can Special Summon its own Tuner, making Synchro Summons really easy.

If you’re going to go on the attack with your Mega Hamster, you’ll have a perfect combo with “X-Saber Airbellum.” You can Special Summon Airbellum with the Hamster’s ability, and since Airbellum is a Tuner, you can Tune it to the Hamster to make a Level 7 Synchro Summon. “X-Saber Urbellum” and “Psychic Lifetrancer” are solid Level 7 attackers, or you can destroy everything on the field by Summoning “Black Rose Dragon.” Since you’ll be Flip Summoning Airbellum, you can still use your Normal Summon to throw down another attacker. If you cleared the way first with “Black Rose Dragon,” that’ll mean at least one direct attack.

Turning a lonesome “Super-Nimble Mega Hamster” into a Level 7 Synchro Monster without using any other cards from your hand is pretty cool, but the tricks don’t end there. If your opponent controls just 1 monster and has blundered into your Hamster, you can Special Summon “X-Saber Airbellum,” then Flip Summon Airbellum and Tribute Mega Hamster for “Enemy Controller” on your next turn. That will let you take control of your opponent’s monster and let you make at least two direct attacks, forcing your opponent to discard a card with Aribellum’s effect. Nasty stuff, especially if you then Tune Airbellum to the monster you took control of, to do a Synchro Summon.

Since “Moja” is Level 1, you could throw it into the mix to make a Level 8 Synchro Monster like “Stardust Dragon” or “Colossal Fighter.” If you used your Mega Hamster to unleash a swarm of “Nimble Momongas,” you can Tune it and a Momonga to “X-Saber Airbellum” for a Level 9 Synchro Summon. Since all of these Synchro Materials are EARTH Attribute monsters, you could bring out “XX-Saber Gottoms,” or you can send your opponent’s cards back to their hand with “Mist Wurm.”

Bolstering Beasts

Between Synchro Summons with “X-Saber Airbellum,” the effects of “Nimble Momonga” and “Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter,” and using “Moja” to Special Summon “King of the Beasts,” you’re going to end up with a lot of monsters in your Graveyard.

Loading your Graveyard with Beasts courtesy of Mega Hamster’s effect makes it way easier to use the Spell Card “Pot of Avarice,” because you’ll get the necessary Beast monsters into your Graveyard much faster. That speeds up the whole strategy and makes it more consistent.

“Super-Nimble Mega Hamster” is a great addition to Beast Decks, and we’re just scratching the surface. There are a lot of other cool Beasts the Mega Hamster can Summon: “Gyaku-Gire Panda,” “Sea Koala,” “A Cat of Ill Omen,” “Test Tiger,” and “Gladiator Beast Samnite” are all examples. This card can be played in a lot of different ways, and it’s going to be a top pick for any Beast Duelist.
