Jared Centamore is 12 years old and came here from Manahawkin, New Jersey. He’s using a Jinzo Returner Deck with Machinas in it and was 1-0 after round 1 by beating Gladiator Beasts. “This tournament is exciting!” he told me. “It’s also a lot bigger than I expected, too. I was only expecting about 1500 people.”

Danny Rambo is 12 years old and came here from Long Island. He’s running Machina Gadgets in the main event and is really excited about the Side Events. “I like the Dragon Duels and ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARDS!! Side Events, but my favorite part of being here is getting foreign language cards from players around the world.” When I asked Rambo if he was surprised by the large attendance, he answered, “I was expecting even more people! Between 2900 and 3000!” Yikes. Danny Rambo is tough to impress.

Darren Gutierrez is 14 years old and came here from Linden, New Jersey. He’s running a Macrocosmos Deck with D.D. Survivor in it in today’s tournament. I asked him if he was surprised by the turnout, and he answered, “Yeah, it’s way more people than I was expecting.” But that’s not his favorite part. “My favorite part is that I get to Duel the day before my birthday. If I’m still in the tournament tomorrow, I’ll be Dueling on my birthday!” It looks like Darren Gutierrez is having a great birthday weekend.
