Jesus Santos is running a Blackwing Deck with the new Cards for Black Feathers and Blackwing – Breeze the Zephyr in it, while his opponent, Francisco Vaca is running Quickdraw Dandywarrior. This Match could go either way.

Vaca Set a monster along with 3 back rows before passing back to Santos, who drew Bottomless Trap Hole on his next turn. He Set it before ending. During his End Phase, Vaca activated Dust Tornado to destroy the Bottomless Trap Hole Santos just Set.

Vaca flipped Ryko face-up next turn, destroying Santos’s Set Book of Moon and sending Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, Book of Moon, and Bottomless Trap Hole from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He attacked for 200 points of damage, Set a card, to his back row, and ended his turn.

Santos drew another Bottomless Trap Hole next turn. Then he activated Reinforcement of the Army and searched his Deck for a copy of Dark Grepher to add to his hand. He Summoned it to the field and activated its effect by discarding Necro Gardna from his hand. He sent Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor from his Deck to his Graveyard. Grepher attacked Ryko and Vaca flipped Book of Moon to Set Ryko face-down. Ryko flipped when it was attacked, and its effect destroyed Dark Grepher and sent the top 3 cards of Vaca’s Deck to his Graveyard. Santos Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Vaca Set a card to each zone next turn before passing to Santos, who drew Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn and Summoned it. Vaca flipped Bottomless Trap Hole to remove it from play.

Vaca Summoned Debris Dragon next turn and tried to activate its effect, but Santos flipped Royal Oppression and paid 800 Life Points to negate and destroy Debris Dragon.

When Light and Darkness Dragon was destroyed and tried to Special Summon a monster from Vaca’s Graveyard, Santos paid 800 Life Points to negate its effect.

He Set Ryko in Main Phase 2 and ended his turn.

Vaca Summoned Card Trooper next turn, pumped it to 1900 ATK by sending the top 3 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard, and then attacked Ryko. Santos flipped Book of Moon to turn Ryko face-down and used Ryko to destroy Vaca’s Set Call of the Haunted when it was flipped.

Post-Event Analysis!

Michael Kohanim (2009 World Championship Competitor)
In both Duels, Santos was able to use Royal Oppression to shut down Vaca’s options and seal his victory. Royal Oppression is still one of the best cards a Blackwing Duelist has at his disposal because of how effectively he can play around it. It was a cool idea for Santos to run Cards for Black Feathers to draw out his best cards, like Royal Oppression and Black Whirlwind.
