Ricardo Lora Zavala wins WCQ – Central America
The final rounds have finished in Guadalajara, and Ricardo Lora Zavala of Mexico has won the World Championship Qualifier – Central America. He will head to Long Beach, California later this Summer to compete against other qualified Duelists from around the world.

Zavala, running his Flamvell Cat Deck, defeated Erick Sanchez Huezca, also from Mexico, who was running Blackwings.

Mexico dominated this tournament, held on their home turf, with players from Mexico claiming most of the spots in the Top 16. The highest-finishing Duelist from outside Mexico was Mariano Angel from Guatemala, who made it to the Top 4 with his Hamstersworn Deck, before losing to Huezca’s Blackwings in the semi-finals. Mariano said it was a great experience to be able to play against such strong opponents. When asked about advice for aspiring Duelists, he said it’s important “To be strong, to persevere, and to have fun!” Thanks Mariano for traveling so far to attend this event!
