QQ: What Will Win?

July 11th, 2010

QQ stands for Quick Questions! And the biggest question on everybody’s mind in Day 2 of a big tournament like this one is always inevitable: “What will win?” X-Sabers, Infernities, Gladiator Beasts, Heralds, and other popular Decks are still in contention here this morning, while plenty of Decks like Gravekeepers and Gadgets are still in it as well. We hit the tournament floor to ask a random sampling of Duelists, what do you think will win the US World Championship Qualifier?!

“Frog Monarchs. Because they just have such good cards, they get rid of all your cards and you can’t do anything.” -Nathan Fitzgerald, Rochester, MN

“X-Sabers. Just because they have Rescue Cat and Faultroll.” -Nick Anderbery, Harrisburg, PA

“My guess would be either Infernities or X-Sabers. Probably Infernities if I had to guess.” -Evan Stutman, Denver, CO

“Infernities. Right now they’re better than X-Sabers.” -Harris Josey, Birmingham, AL

“I think the main event is going to be won by X-Sabers. It’s very consistent, and it gets over a lot of the popular Decks going around today like Infernities and Frog FTK.” -Jesus Santos, Buffalo, NY

“X-Sabers. The Deck is really aggressive, and if you explode at the right moment, there aren’t really any Decks that can hold in.” -Igor Martin, Bridgeport, CT

“I think Sabers are going to take it. Because they Synchro Summon like crazy, and they have a lot of good hands they can draw.” -Nolan Benson, Milwaukee, WI

“I’m hoping my buddy’s Imperial Gadget Deck! It plays Imperial Custom.” -Richard Richey, Kansas City, MO

“X-Sabers. Because Ryan Spicer’s running them, and he’s a really good Duelist.” -Will Priesling, Orlando, FL

“Corn Glads! Gladiator Beasts! Adam Corn specifically! The Dimensional Fissure + Spirit Reaper Side Deck can’t lose to anything.” -Jeremy Renda, Burnsville, MN

“I would probably have to say, to be honest, I have a feeling Infernities are going to take it. Not necessarily because of recent tournament results, but I just feel like it’s too explosive. Sabers, if they can’t set up in time, they just get stopped. Beyond that, the only bad matchup it has is anything with Battle Fader.” -Aaron Thompson, Fargo, ND

“I think Frogs! They need to get banned. That’s how good they are.” -Joe Horth, Taylor, MI

“I think it’s probably going to be X-Sabers. I see a lot of really good players playing them, and there are a lot at the top tables.” -Jay Horning, Ames, IA

“I think X-Sabers will win. It’s probably the best swarm Deck I’ve ever seen.” -John Richey, Kansas City, MO

“X-Sabers. They’re the most consistent Deck, and if you draw Cold Wave and Rescue Cat you win.” -Cesar Gonzalez, Des Moines, IA

X-Sabers are the crowd favorite, but with big victories from Infernities and Frogs in recent WCQ events, it’s really tough to guess what Deck will take home top honors. As we get ready for the Top 64 playoff round, it’s anybody’s game here in Minneapolis!
