With 2 Gravekeeper’s Decks facing off at the other Top 4 table, a victory here for Smith would guarantee a YCS victory for Gravekeepers.

Wigley opened up with Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, X-Saber Airbellum, XX-Saber Fulhelmknight, Bottomless Trap Hole, and 2 copies of XX-Saber Emmersblade. He Set Emmersblade and Bottomless Trap Hole, ending his turn.

Smith activated Pot of Duality, revealing Bottomless Trap Hole, Dimensional Prison, and Necrovalley from the top of his Deck. He added Necrovalley to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He activated Necrovalley and then Set 3 cards in his back row. He activated Royal Tribute and Wigley lost his entire hand! Smith revealed Dark Hole.

Wigley drew Book of Moon and Set it. He flipped XX-Saber Emmersblade face-up, but lost it to Smith’s Solemn Warning.

Smith drew a card and passed back to Wigley.

Wigley drew XX-Saber Darksoul, Set it, and ended his turn.

Smith drew a card and passed again.

Wigley drew Gottoms’ Emergency Call, Set it, and passed.

Smith ended his turn without making a play.

Wigley drew Giant Trunade and passed.

Smith Set a monster and a card to his back row, ending his turn.

Wigley drew Trap Stun. He Set Trap Stun and then ended his turn.

Smith flipped Gravekeeper’s Spy and activated its effect to Special Summon Gravekeeper’s Descendant from his Deck. He activated its effect to Tribute Gravekeeper’s Spy and destroy Wigley’s Gottoms’ Emergency Call. Wigley Chained Bottomless Trap Hole to try to remove the Descendant from the game, but Smith used Book of Moon to save it.

Wigley drew Monster Reborn next turn. He activated Giant Trunade, then flipped Darksoul. He revived XX-Saber Fulhelmknight with Monster Reborn, then attacked over Descendant with Fulhelmknight. Fulhelmknight’s effect activated, Special Summoning X-Saber Airbellum from the Graveyard in Attack Position. Airbellum attacked directly, knocking a copy of Royal Tribute out of Smith’s hand. Then Darksoul attacked for 100 points of damage. In Main Phase 2, Wigley Tuned X-Saber Airbellum with XX-Saber Darksoul to Synchro Summon Goyo Guardian. He Set Trap Stun and Book of Moon before searching his Deck for XX-Saber Emmersblade to add to his hand in the End Phase with the effect of his XX-Saber Darksoul. The score stood with Smith at 4300 Life Points and Wigley at 8000 Life Points.

Smith activated Necrovalley again next turn. Then he used Pot of Duality, revealing Book of Moon, Gravekeeper’s Spy, and Solemn Warning from the top of his Deck. He added the Spy to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Next, Smith activated Dark Hole to wipe out Goyo Guardian and Fulhelmknight. He Set 4 cards to his back row and a monster in Defense Position, emptying his hand.

Wigley drew Darksoul and Set XX-Saber Emmersblade next turn.

Smith flipped Gravekeeper’s Spy and Special Summoned Gravekeeper’s Descendant from his Deck in Attack Position with its effect. He used the Descendant’s effect to Tribute the Spy and destroy Wigley’s face-down Emmersblade. Then he attacked directly for 2000 points of damage.

Wigley drew Fulhelmknight next turn and Summoned it before passing.

Smith activated Pot of Duality next turn, revealing Gravekeeper’s Recruiter, Gravekeeper’s Descendant, and Allure of Darkness from the top of his Deck. He added the Recruiter to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He Summoned the Recruiter to the field and then Tributed it with his Descendant’s effect to destroy Fulhelmknight. Smith searched his Deck for a Recruiter. He attacked for 2000 points of damage and passed.

Wigley drew Book of Moon next turn. He Set Book of Moon and Darksoul, ending his turn.

Smith Summoned Gravekeeper’s Recruiter next turn and Tributed it to destroy Darksoul with his Descendant’s effect. Then he attacked with Gravekeeper’s Descendant, but it went face-down due to the effect of Wigley’s Book of Moon. Smith Set a back row and ended. Wigley searched his Deck for Boggart Knight with the effect of Darksoul in his End Phase.

Wigley drew another Boggart Knight next turn. He Summoned it to the field and activated its effect. Smith activated Bottomless Trap Hole, and Wigley Chained Trap Stun to negate it. Wigley Special Summoned another copy of Boggart Knight from his hand with Boggart Knight’s effect. The first Boggart Knight attacked and destroyed Smith’s face-down Descendant, and the other attacked directly.

Smith Summoned Gravekeeper’s Commandant next turn. He attacked Boggart Knight, but his monster was put face-down by Book of Moon. Smith Set a card to his back row and passed.

Wigley Special Summoned XX-Saber Faultroll next turn, but lost it to Smith’s Bottomless Trap Hole.

Smith activated Allure of Darkness to draw 2 cards and remove a Recruiter from his hand. Then he attacked over Boggart Knight with Commandant.

Wigley drew Solemn Warning next turn. He Set it and switched his Boggart Knight to Defense Position.

Smith activated Gravekeeper’s Stele to return 2 copies of Gravekeeper’s Spy to his hand. He Set 1 of them and attacked Wigley’s Defense Position Boggart Knight with his Commandant.

When Wigley drew Solemn Warning next turn, he conceded, knowing he wouldn’t be able to survive another turn with only 3800 Life Points left.

Smith activated Pot of Duality, revealing Dark Hole, Pot of Duality, and Gravekeeper’s Spy from the top of his Deck. He added the Spy to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck.  He activated Allure of Darkness next, drawing 2 cards and removing Gravekeeper’s Assailant from his hand. He Set a monster, activated Necrovalley, Set a back row, and ended his turn.

Wigley activated Cold Wave next turn. He Normal Summoned Boggart Knight, activated its effect to Special Summon Pashuul, and Tuned Pashuul with Boggart Knight to Synchro Summon XX-Saber Hyunlei. Hyunlei destroyed Necrovalley and a face-down Solemn Warning. Hyunlei attacked Smith’s face-down Gravekeeper’s Spy next, destroying it in battle and allowing Smith to Special Summon another Spy in Defense Position, to block Airbellum’s attack.

Smith Summoned Effect Veiler next turn. He Tuned it with Gravekeeper’s Spy to Synchro Summon Ally of Justice Catastor, then attacked XX-Saber Hyunlei and destroyed it with Catastor’s effect. He couldn’t activate Necrovalley since he was still under the effect of Cold Wave.

Wigley Summoned XX-Saber Emmersblade next turn and Tuned it with Airbellum to Synchro Summon Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. He pitched Cyber Dragon to return Ally of Justice Catastor to the Extra Deck with Brionac’s effect, then attacked directly with Brionac.

Smith activated Necrovalley and Set a monster next turn.

Wigley activated Mind Control, gaining control of Smith’s face-down Gravekeeper’s Commandant. He attacked with Brionac and gave the Commandant back to Smith in the End Phase.

Smith Summoned Descendant and launched his Commandant with its effect to destroy Brionac. Then he attacked with Descendant, but lost his monster to Mirror Force.

Wigley drew a card and Set Solemn Warning before passing.

Smith Summoned Commandant and lost it to Wigley’s Solemn Warning.

Wigley Special Summoned Cyber Dragon next turn. He tried to attack Gravekeeper’s Descendant with it, but lost his monster to Smith’s Dimensional Prison. Wigley used Dark Hole next, but Smith saved his Commandant with Compulsory Evacuation Device by returning it to his hand.

Smith activated Stele to return 2 Spies to his hand next turn. He Set 1 of them and passed.

Wigley activated Nobleman of Crossout to remove Smith’s face-down Spy from the game. Then he Summoned Emmersblade and attacked directly with it, dropping Smith to 2100 Life Points.

Smith activated Gravekeeper’s Stele to return Gravekeeper’s Commandant and Gravekeeper’s Descendant to his hand. He Set a monster before ending his turn.

Wigley drew a card and had Nobleman of Crossout and XX-Saber Faultroll in his hand, with only an Emmersblade on the field. He activated Nobleman of Crossout to remove Smith’s Set Spy, then attacked directly with Emmersblade to drop Smith down to 800 Life Points.

Smith Set a monster and ended his turn.

Wigley drew Doomcaliber Knight next turn. He Summoned it to the field and attacked Smith’s face-down Recruiter. Recruiter’s 2000 DEF was too high for Doomcaliber Knight, and Wigley lost 100 Life Points. He switched Emmersblade to Defense Position and ended his turn.

Smith Summoned Gravekeeper’s Descendant next turn. He used it to attack and destroy Doomcaliber Knight, then Tributed his Recruiter to destroy Emmersblade. Wigley conceded, seeing no way out of the Duel.
