QQ: How to Stop Six Samurai?
QQ stands for Quick Questions! Now that the Legendary Six Samurai have warped forward through time to show us all how it’s done, there’s one goal on every Duelist’s mind here this weekend: How to withstand the onslaught of the new Six Samurai Deck.
It’s still early in the day, but with many experienced Duelists and Champions playing Samurai variants, it’s clearly going to be one of the Decks to beat. With that fact in mind we turned our inquiry to the tournament floor, as we asked the Quick Question: “What cards will let you survive Samurais!?”
“Mind Control! It makes my opponent waste their negation with Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En, and since I play Samurai, I can take an opposing Samurai and destroy it to keep one of my Samurai, like Zanji, from being destroyed.” – Jonathan Moore
“Super Polymerization! I use it to go into Elemental Hero Gaia, because every important monster in Samurais is EARTH. That and of course Puppet Plant!” – Fabian Cantu
“To beat Samurais? Spell-Shattering Arrow, and Thunder King Rai-Oh. Arrow can destroy all their Continuous Spells, and they even take Damage. Thunder King stops them from searching. You go aggro, and hope they don’t kill it.” – Daniel Polito
“I’m running Gladiator Beasts. I think it’s good, bcause if they go Shi En turn 1, you have that Chariot. I playtested it alot, and Chariot’s too good.” -Juan Rivera
“Karakuri Sazank! Its effect doesn’t destroy, it “sends”, so they can’t get their Grandmaster effect, and it’ll take out Shi En.” -Joaquin Bigornia
“I play 3 Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo and 3 Gozen Match. You set Dyna and they get wrecked.” -Roy St. Clair
“Maxx “C”! They have to stop their Special Summoning, or else I’ll draw a card every time they do. If they bring out Shi En, they can negate my Spell or Trap card, but I just drew 3 cards. It doesn’t matter if they negate 1 of them. It Chains to Kageki, Chains to Reborn – simple stuff like that.” -Jason Holloway
“Tytannial, actually. I’m running Plants, and here high ATK is really useful. Plus every Samurai effect requires a target, so Tytannial can negate it. I’m also playing Black Garden. The Rose Tokens work with Tytannial’s effect.” -Alexandra Meyer
