Silva opened up with Icarus Attack; Trap Stun; Dragunity Aklys; Dragunity Dux; Dragunity Legionnaire; and Giant Trunade. He Summoned Aklys to the field and attacked with it, but Mera flipped Dimensional Prison to remove Aklys from the Duel. Silva Set Icarus Attack and Trap Stun, ending his turn.

Mera Summoned Blackwing – Bora the Spear next turn and attacked Silva directly, dropping him down to 6300 Life Points.

Silva drew another copy of Dragunity Aklys on the following turn. He Normal Summoned it to the field and activated its effect to Special Summon Dragunity Legionnaire from his hand and equip Akyls to the Legionnaire. Then he used his Legionnaire’s effect to send Aklys to the Graveyard and destroy Bora. Akyls’s effect triggered and Silva destroyed Mera’s face-down Forbidden Lance. Silva entered his Battle Phase and attacked directly with Dragunity Legionnaire before play passed to Mera.

Mera Normal Summoned Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn next turn. He tried attacking Silva’s Dragunity Legionnaire, but Silva used Icarus Attack and Tributed the Legionnaire to try to destroy Mera’s Sirocco and face-down Trap Card. But Mera Chained the Trap Card! It was Solemn Judgment! He paid half of his Life Points to negate the Icarus Attack, and Sirocco made a direct attack. Mera Set a card to his back row and ended his turn.

Silva drew Effect Veiler next turn. He Set Giant Trunade and ended his turn.

Mera attacked with Sirocco next turn, dropping Silva down to 2300 Life Points.

Silva drew Dragunity Phalanx on the following turn. He Set it and passed.

Mera Special Summoned Blackwing – Bora the Spear from his hand. He switched Sirocco to Defense Position and then activated Sirocco’s effect to boost Bora up to 3700 ATK. When Mera tried to enter his Battle Phase, Silva dropped Effect Veiler from his hand to negate Bora’s effect so that he’d survive the turn. Bora destroyed Silva’s face-down Dragunity Phalanx in battle, and Mera Set a card to his back row in Main Phase 2.

Silva drew Icarus Attack next turn. He flipped his face-down Giant Trunade to return all Spell and Trap Cards on the field to their owners’ hands, and then Normal Summoned Dragunity Dux from his hand. He activated its effect to equip it with the Dragunity Phalanx he had in the Graveyard and then attacked Sirocco with Dux. He Set Icarus Attack and Trap Stun in Main Phase 2 before ending his turn.

Mera activated Smashing Ground to try to destroy Dux, so Silva flipped Icarus Attack and Tributed Dux to destroy Bora and the face-up Smashing Ground that Mera had just activated. Mera Summoned Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor next, and attacked directly, dropping Silva down to 1500 Life Points.

Silva drew Cards of Consonance next turn and Set it.

Mera attacked with Vayu on the following turn and then boosted it by 1400 ATK by dropping Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow from his hand during Damage Calculation. Its 2200 ATK was more than enough to wipe out the rest of Silva’s Life Points!

Kevin Silva just can’t get his Deck going in Duel 1, and Ramon Mera manages to overwhelm him with his Blackwings. Silva will be going first in Duel 2!

Silva opened up Duel 2 with Cyber Dragon, Terraforming, Dragon Ravine, Pot of Duality, and 2 copies of Mystical Space Typhoon. He activated Pot of Duality to reveal D.D. Crow, Pot of Avarice, and Mirror Force from the top of his Deck, and added the Mirror Force to his hand. He shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Next, he activated Dragon Ravine and discarded Terraforming from his hand to grab a Dragunity Phalanx from his Deck with its effect. He Set both copies of Mystical Space Typhoon along with his Mirror Force before ending his turn.

Mera activated Pot of Duality next turn, revealing Bora, Dark Hole, and Dimensional Fissure from the top of his Deck. He added Bora to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Mera Normal Summoned Blackwing – Bora the Spear and then declared an attack with it. Silva flipped Mirror Force to destroy it. Mera Set 4 cards to his back row in Main Phase 2, and Silva flipped both copies of Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy a newly Set Smashing Ground and Chain Disappearance.

Silva drew Solemn Warning and then pitched Phalanx from his hand to grab a Dux from his Deck. He Summoned Dux to the field and activated its effect, but Mera flipped Pulling the Rug to negate its effect and destroy the Dux. Silva Set Solemn Warning and ended his turn.

Silva pitched Cyber Dragon from his hand to activate the effect of his Dragon Ravine, but Mera Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the Field Spell Card and deprive Silva of its effect. Next, Silva Summoned Dragunity Legionnaire and activated its effect, but Mera flipped Pulling the Rug to negate the effect and destroy the Legionnaire.

Mera tried to Normal Summon Blackwing – Bora the Spear next turn, but Silva flipped Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to negate Bora’s Summon.

Silva drew Dragunity Phalanx next turn. He Set it and passed.

Mera activated Black Whirlwind next turn and then Normal Summoned Sirocco from his hand. The effect of Whirlwind activated and Mera grabbed a copy of Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame from his Deck to add to his hand. Next, Mera attacked Silva’s face-down Phalanx with Sirocco. Silva flipped Catastrophe, destroying Mera’s Solemn Warning and Black Whirlwind. Sirocco destroyed Phalanx in battle.

Silva drew Dragunity Dux next turn! He Summoned it and used its effect to equip it with a Dragunity Phalanx in his Graveyard, then Special Summoned the Phalanx to the field. Next, he Tuned the Phalanx with the Dux to Synchro Summon Dragunity Knight – Vajrayana, and activated Vajrayana’s effect to equip it with the Phalanx in the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Phalanx back to the field and Tuned it with Vajrayana to Synchro Summon Colossal Fighter! Colossal Fighter attacked and destroyed Sirocco, dropping Mera down to 7200 Life Points.

Mera activated Dark Hole next turn, then Summoned Shura. Shura attacked Silva directly, dropping him down to 4200 Life Points.

Silva drew Monster Reborn next turn! He used it to revive Colossal Fighter, then attacked Shura and destroyed it in battle, dropping Mera down to 6200 Life Points.

Silva drew Solemn Warning and attacked directly with Colossal Fighter, dropping Mera down to 3400 Life Points. Silva Set the Solemn Warning and ended his turn.

Mera flipped his face-down Mystical Space Typhoon next turn to destroy Silva’s Solemn Warning and then Summoned Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North. He tried to Special Summon Shura from his Graveyard with its effect, but Silva pitched D.D. Crow from his hand to prevent Shura from hitting the field! Silva drew Pot of Avarice next turn! He activated it to send 5 monsters in his Graveyard back to his Deck and draw Dragunity Legionnaire and Terraforming. He Summoned the Legionnaire and used its effect to equip it with the Phalanx in his Graveyard. Then he Special Summoned the Phalanx to the field and Tuned it with Legionnaire to Synchro Summon Vortex the Whirlwind. Colossal Fighter attacked over Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North and then Vortex struck Mera directly, wiping out the rest of his Life Points!

Mera Flip Summoned Spirit Reaper next turn and attacked Silva directly, dropping a Dragunity Dux from his hand. Mera activated Allure of Darkness in Main Phase 2, allowing him to draw 2 cards and remove Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn from his hand. He activated Dimensional Fissure and ended his turn.

Silva drew Effect Veiler next turn. He flipped his face-down Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Dimensional Fissure and then activated Terraforming to grab Dragon Ravine from his Deck. He activated it and used its effect to pitch Dragunity Phalanx from his hand and send Dragunity Aklys from his Deck to his Graveyard. Then he tried to Normal Summon Dragunity Legionnaire, but Mera flipped another Solemn Warning and paid another 2000 Life Points to negate the Summon.

Mera Summoned Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind next turn and attacked directly with Spirit Reaper and Gale. Silva used his last in-hand card, Effect Veiler, to negate Spirit Reaper’s effect at the End of Main Phase 1, since he was going to lose the card to Spirit Reaper anyway. Mera Set 1 card to his back row and ended his turn.

Silva drew Icarus Attack next turn and pitched it from his hand to search his Deck for Dragunity Legionnaire with the effect of his Dragon Ravine. He Summoned the Legionnaire, but Mera flipped Icarus Attack and Tributed Gale to destroy Legionnaire and Dragon Ravine when Silva activated his Legionnaire’s effect.

Mera Summoned Shura next turn and attacked directly with Shura and Spirit Reaper.

Silva drew Dragunity Phalanx next turn and passed, with no field. The Phalanx was the only card in his possession.

Mera Summoned Blackwing – Blizzard the Far North on the following turn and activated its effect to Special Summon Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind from his Graveyard. He Tuned Shura with Gale to Synchro Summon Blackwing Armor Master and then attacked directly with Spirit Reaper, Blizzard, and Armor Master, wiping out Silva’s last 4000 Life Points!

Ramon Mera commands Duel 3 with Spirit Reaper, allowing him to defeat Kevin Silva’s Dragunity Deck and keep his Top 32 hopes alive!
