QQ: Trap Stun, Seven Tools, or Decree?
QQ stands for Quick Questions! Now that Heavy Storm and Cold Wave are both Forbidden, Duelists everywhere are looking for new ways to shut down their opponents’ Trap Cards. Trap Stun, Seven Tools of the Bandit, and Royal Decree have all emerged as the top ways to shut down opposing Trap Cards, and each of these cards has its unique advantages. I asked several of this weekend’s competitors which of these 3 cards they prefer, and why. See what they had to say!
“Seven Tools of the Bandit. It negates Solemn Warning and Solemn Judgment.” – Arik Bibicoff
“I use both Trap Stun and Seven Tools of the Bandit. Trap Stun is good if they have Oppression face-up on the field already, and Seven Tools is good if they have Solemn Warning, Solemn Judgment, or Musakani Magatama.” – Daniel LaMartina
“Trap Stun. If your opponent has 5 face-downs, Trap Stun will guaranteed negate all of the Solemn Warnings, Oppressions, and anything like that.” –Dylan Houghtling
“Seven Tools of the Bandit. The other ones can’t be Chained to other Counter Traps.” – Brendan Jines
“Trap Stun. You can Chain it to something for a one for one.” – Eric Granados
“Seven Tools of the Bandit. It says no to Solemn Judgment.” – Conner Morgan
“Royal Decree. Trap Stun is only temporary. Decree is a permanent counter to heavy Trap Decks, and right now the format is pretty slow. Seven Tools only stops 1, and on top of that, you have to pay 1000.” – Ricardo Rangel
“Seven Tools of the Bandit. It’s the only one that negates Warning and Judgment.” – Bob Hwang
“Royal Decree. There are situations where Royal Decree can shut down a full back row, where the other ones can’t do that.” – Nake Dhillon
“Trap Stun, because Trap Stun can be used on one turn, then you can get rid of their whole field and still have your back row. You don’t have to pay 1000 Life Points, and it can’t hurt you like Decree.” – David Hernandez
“Royal Decree. It gives me more options. I like playing more Spells than I do Traps.” – Mike Witt
Duelists gave a wide spread of answers in this QQ, with different players preferring different methods of negating Traps. Stay with the coverage to see which of the 3 cards that these Duelists were asked about has the biggest impact on bringing competitors into the Top 32!
Here’s what our expert(s) had to say:

It’s interesting to see that no one who picked Seven Tools of the Bandit talked about how it can’t be negated by Spell Speed 2 effects. That’s a really big deal because it lets Seven Tools get around Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En’s incredible special ability.
