Timothy Huckey and Raffee Cordero are both YCS first-timers, and now they’re pitted against one another in their first ever Feature Match! Timothy Huckey is from Prescott, Arizona, and entered the tournament with an innovative Gadget Deck using 3 copies of Drastic Drop Off and a bunch of other Counter Traps that restrict his opponent’s plays. Raffee Cordero, from San Jose, California, is using Six Samurais. An early Shi En for Cordero in this Match could spell doom for Huckey, who relies on his many Spell and Trap Cards.

Cordero started off the Match by Setting 4 cards to his back row.

Huckey opened up with Mirror Force, Widespread Ruin, Dimensional Prison, Smashing Ground, Green Gadget, and Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo. He tried to Summon Green Gadget to the field, but Cordero flipped Solemn Warning and gave up 2000 Life Points to negate the Summon. Next, he Set all 3 of his Trap Cards and ended his turn.

Cordero Set a fourth card to his back row and Set a monster.

Huckey drew Compulsory Evacuation Device next turn. He Normal Summoned Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo and Cordero activated another copy of Solemn Warning and gave up another 2000 Life Points to negate the Summon! Huckey Set Compulsory Evacuation Device in Main Phase 2 and ended his turn.

Cordero Set another card to his back row and ended his turn.

Huckey drew Drastic Drop Off next turn. He Set it and passed.

Cordero drew a card for his turn and Huckey activated Drastic Drop Off to make him discard it. Next, Cordero Normal Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan. He attacked with Kizan, and Cordero flipped Dimensional Prison to remove Kizan from the Duel.

Huckey drew Torrential Tribute and Set it.

Cordero activated Upstart Goblin, granting Huckey 1000 Life Points and allowing Cordero to draw a card from his Deck. He promptly passed back to Huckey.

Huckey drew another Compulsory Evacuation Device and Set it.

Cordero passed without making a play.

Huckey drew Pot of Avarice and ended his turn.

Cordero Set a monster and a 5th card to his back row.

Huckey drew Dimensional Prison. With 5 cards in his back row already, he couldn’t Set it, and ended his turn instead.

Cordero activated Giant Trunade next turn! Huckey Chained 2 copies of Compulsory Evacuation Device to try to bounce Cordero’s 2 face-down monsters, but Cordero flipped Solemn Judgment and paid half of his Life Points to negate the second Evacuation Device! All Spell and Trap Cards were returned to their owners’ hands. Next, Cordero Set 4 cards to his back row and activated Reinforcement of the Army to search his Deck for Kagemusha of the Six Samurai. He Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki from his hand next, and activated its effect to Special Summon Kagemusha. He Tuned Kagemusha with Kageki to Synchro Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En, and then Flip Summoned Morphing Jar! Huckey discarded Widespread Ruin, Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute, Dimensional Prison, Pot of Avarice, and Smashing Ground from his hand, and Cordero didn’t discard anything! Each Duelist drew 5 cards. Huckey drew 2 Fossil Dynas, a Red Gadget, a Dimensional Prison, and a Compulsory Evacuation Device. Cordero attacked directly with Shi En and Morphing Jar, dropping Huckey down to 5800 Life Points. Cordero Set a 5th card to his back row in Main Phase 2 and ended his turn.

Huckey Set Fossil Dyna and 3 cards to his back row next turn.

Cordero activated Mystical Space Typhoon on the following turn, targeting Huckey’s face-down Compulsory Evacuation Device. Huckey Chained it to try to return Shi En to the Extra Deck, but Cordero negated it with the effect of his Shi En. Next, Cordero Normal Summoned Kageki and activated its effect to Special Summon Kagemusha from his hand in Defense Position. Kageki attacked Huckey’s face-down Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo, destroying it in battle and allowing Fossil Dyna to take down Cordero’s Kagemusha and Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En with it. Morphing Jar attacked directly, dropping Huckey down to 5100 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Cordero activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En back from his Graveyard.

Huckey drew Mind Crush next turn. He Set it along with Fossil Dyna and ended his turn.

Cordero activated Shien’s Smoke Signal next turn! He searched his Deck for a copy of Hand of the Six Samurai to add to his hand, and when it got there, Huckey activated Mind Crush naming Hand of the Six Samurai to force Cordero to discard it. Cordero Set a card and then attacked the face-down Fossil Dyna with Shi En. Fossil Dyna and Shi En were destroyed, and then Kageki and Morphing Jar attacked directly. Cordero Special Summoned Grandmaster of the Six Samurai in Main Phase 2 and ended his turn.

Huckey drew Green Gadget next turn. He Set Red Gadget and ended his turn.

Cordero attacked Huckey’s face-down Gadget with Kageki, destroying it in battle. Grandmaster attacked next, but Huckey flipped Dimensional Prison to stop the attack and remove Grandmaster of the Six Samurai from the Duel. Morphing Jar attacked next, dropping Huckey down to 3500 Life Points. Still in his Battle Phase, Cordero flipped Double-Edged Sword Technique to Special Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En and Hand of the Six Samurai from his Graveyard. Direct attacks from both of them finished Huckey off!

Huckey opened up Duel 2 with Dark Bribe, Gozen Match, Banisher of the Radiance, Drastic Drop Off, and 2 copies of Yellow Gadget. He Summoned Banisher of the Radiance and then Set his 3 Trap Cards.

Cordero activated Upstart Goblin, granting Huckey 1000 Life Points and allowing Cordero to draw a card. Next, he Set 5 cards to his back row and ended his turn.

Huckey drew Smashing Ground next turn. He attacked directly with Banisher of the Radiance and Cordero dropped down to 6400 Life Points. Huckey ended his turn without Summoning a Gadget.

Cordero passed his next turn without making a play.

Huckey drew another Drastic Drop Off next turn. He attacked directly with Banisher of the Radiance to drop Cordero down to 4800 Life Points, then Set the Drastic Drop Off and ended his turn.

Cordero drew Six Samurai United next turn but discarded it when Huckey flipped Drastic Drop Off. Cordero passed right back to Huckey.

Huckey drew another Banisher of the Radiance next turn. He attacked directly with his on-field Banisher to drop Cordero down to 3200 Life Points before passing.

Cordero drew Double-Edged Sword Technique next turn, but discarded it when Huckey flipped his second Drastic Drop Off. Cordero activated his face-down Mystical Space Typhoon next to destroy Huckey’s face-down Gozen Match, and then activated Six Samurai United. He Normal Summoned Kagemusha of the Six Samurai and then Special Summoned Grandmaster of the Six Samurai to put a total of 2 Bushido Counters on his Six Samurai United. Grandmaster of the Six Samurai attacked and destroyed Banisher, and then Kagemusha attacked Huckey directly, dropping him down to 9100 Life Points. Cordero sent Six Samurai United to the Graveyard next to draw 2 cards, and then Special Summoned Kizan from his hand in Main Phase 2. He Tuned Kizan with Kagemusha to Synchro Summon Naturia Barkion and then ended his turn.

Huckey drew Dimensional Prison next turn. He tried to Summon Banisher of the Radiance to the field, but Cordero flipped Solemn Judgment and gave up 1600 Life Points to negate it. Next, Cordero activated Smashing Ground to destroy Barkion, and Set Dimensional Prison to his back row.

Cordero attacked with his Grandmaster next turn, but lost it to Dimensional Prison. Grandmaster was removed, and Cordero ended his turn without making any other plays.

Huckey drew another Banisher of the Radiance next turn. He Summoned it to the field and attacked directly, threatening Cordero’s remaining 1600 Life Points. Cordero revealed his face-down Dark Hole, Royal Oppression, and Upstart Goblin, along with his in-hand Cyber Dragon, and conceded!

Some strong pressure from Banisher of the Radiance allows Timothy Huckey to pin down Raffee Cordero and win Duel 2! Raffee Cordero will be going first in Duel 3!

Cordero started off Duel 3 by Setting 4 cards to his back row and ending his turn.

Huckey opened up with Torrential Tribute, Gozen Match, Smashing Ground, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Dark Bribe, and Yellow Gadget. He Set his 4 Trap Cards and ended his turn. In his End Phase, Cordero flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Huckey’s Gozen Match.

Cordero Set a card to each zone and passed.

Huckey drew Dimensional Prison next turn. He Summoned Yellow Gadget to the field, and when Cordero tried to negate its Summon with Solemn Warning, Huckey flipped Dark Bribe to negate the Solemn Warning and allow Cordero to draw a card. Huckey searched his Deck for a Green Gadget with the effect of his Yellow Gadget. Next, Huckey attacked Cordero’s face-down Kagemusha of the Six Samurai with his Yellow Gadget, and lost 600 Life Points as a result. Huckey activated Smashing Ground in Main Phase 2 in order to destroy Kagemusha and Set Dimensional Prison before ending his turn.

Cordero activated Giant Trunade next turn! All Spell and Trap Cards were returned to their owners’ hands. Cordero followed up by Special Summoning Cyber Dragon from his hand and fusing it with Huckey’s Gadget to Summon a 2000 ATK Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. Chimeratech Fortress Dragon attacked directly to drop Huckey down to 5400 Life Points, and Cordero Set 4 cards to his back row before passing.

Huckey drew Mind Crush. He Summoned Green Gadget from his hand and searched for a Red Gadget with its effect, then Set 4 cards to his back row. Play passed back to Cordero.

Cordero tried to attack with Chimeratech Fortress Dragon on his next turn, but Huckey flipped Compulsory Evacuation Device to return the Fortress Dragon to Huckey’s Extra Deck. Cordero Set a 5th card to his back row and ended his turn.

Huckey drew Red Gadget. He attacked Cordero directly with Green Gadget, dropping him down to 4600 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Huckey Summoned a Red Gadget and activated its effect to add a Yellow Gadget from his Deck to his hand.

Cordero activated Dark Hole next turn, destroying both of Huckey’s Gadgets. Next, he flipped his face-down Upstart Goblin, granting Huckey 1000 Life Points and allowing Cordero to draw a card. Cordero Set a monster and passed to Huckey.

Huckey drew Pot of Avarice next turn. He Summoned Yellow Gadget to the field and activated its effect, allowing him to add a Green Gadget from his Deck to his hand. Huckey ended his turn without attacking.

Cordero activated Reinforcement of the Army next turn. As he was searching his Deck for a monster, time was called! Huckey had 6400 Life Points remaining, and Cordero was left with just 4600 Life Points. The Match will be over in less than 6 turns, and the Duelist with the highest Life Points will win. Cordero added Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Reinforcement of the Army, and when it got there, Huckey named it with Mind Crush to force Cordero to discard it. Next, Cordero flipped Six Samurai United. He followed up by flipping Double-Edged Sword Technique, allowing him to Special Summon Kageki and Kagemusha from his Graveyard. When they hit the field, Huckey activated Torrential Tribute, destroying both of those Samurais along with a face-down Kagemusha and Huckey’s own Yellow Gadget. Cordero sent Six Samurai United to the Graveyard next, allowing him to draw 1 card thanks to the Bushido Counter it gained after Double-Edged Sword Technique resolved. He drew Shien’s Smoke Signal and activated it to search his Deck for Kageki. Cordero Set a monster before ending his turn.

Huckey drew Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo next turn. This was the first of his final 3 turns. He Summoned Fossil Dyna and passed.

Cordero Set a monster and passed.

Huckey drew Smashing Ground next turn. He switched his Fossil Dyna to Defense Position and then Set a Red Gadget.

Cordero drew a card, beginning his final turn of the Match. He needed to deal at least 1800 points of damage to stay in the Duel. He Flip Summoned Morphing Jar, discarding Cyber Dragon and forcing Huckey to discard his hand. Each player drew 5 new cards. Huckey drew 4 Trap Cards and a Kinetic Soldier. The Trap Cards would be irrelevant, since Huckey only had 1 turn left in the Match. Cordero activated Gateway of the Six and then Flip Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki. He Normal Summoned Kizan next, adding 2 Bushido Counters to his Gateway. Kageki attacked Fossil Dyna, but Huckey flipped Dimensional Prison to remove the Kageki from the Duel. Kizan destroyed Fossil Dyna next, and Cordero Set a card to his back row, knowing it was over.

Huckey drew Royal Oppression next turn. He Normal Summoned Kinetic Soldier and attacked Kizan with it, and Cordero flipped Mirror Force to destroy the Soldier. But it didn’t matter! Huckey was up 6400 Life Points to 4600 Life Points, and when Huckey ended his turn, he was declared the victor!
