Amanda LaPalme and Christopher Burrows are both 7-2 in the tournament, with the hope of a Top 32 finish riding on the outcome of this Match. LaPalme is back with her signature Dragon Deck, and Burrows is using a Dimensional Tengu Deck that takes advantage of effects that work when his monsters are removed from the Duel. If Burrows manages to keep his Dimensional Fissure on the field, this will be a difficult Match for LaPalme, who relies on Special Summoning Dragons from her Graveyard.

LaPalme opened up Duel 1 with Dodger Dragon, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Mind Crush, Seven Tools of the Bandit, Masked Dragon, and Book of Moon. She Set Mind Crush, Book of Moon, Seven Tools of the Bandit, and Masked Dragon before ending her turn.

Burrows activated Giant Trunade to return all 3 of LaPalme’s back rows to her hand, and then activated Dimensional Fissure. He used Dark Hole to remove Masked Dragon from the Duel and then Normal Summoned D.D. Survivor. He attacked directly with it before Setting a card to his back row.

LaPalme drew Light and Darkness Dragon and then Summoned Dodger Dragon. She attacked over D.D. Survivor with her Dragon, removing it from the Duel. She Set 3 cards back to her back row before ending her turn. Burrows Special Summoned his Survivor back to the field in the End Phase.

Burrows Set a card to his back row and passed.

LaPalme drew Totem Dragon and then Normal Summoned it to the field. She removed it from the Duel to Special Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from her hand, and when Burrows flipped Solemn Judgment, LaPalme flipped Seven Tools of the Bandit and paid 1000 Life Points to negate it! Burrows fell down to 3950 Life Points. Dodger Dragon attacked over D.D. Survivor, and then Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon attacked directly, dropping Burrows down to 1050 Life Points. Burrows Special Summoned D.D. Survivor in the End Phase and then Set a monster. He switched D.D. Survivor to Defense Position and passed to LaPalme.

LaPalme drew Pot of Duality next turn and activated it. She revealed Delta Flyer, Dimensional Prison, and Prime Material Dragon from the top of her Deck and added the Delta Flyer to her hand. Next, she Tributed Dodger Dragon and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon for Light and Darkness Dragon and attacked D.D. Survivor with her Dragon. Light and Darkness Dragon negated the Survivor’s effect so that it couldn’t come back in the End Phase.

Burrows activated Mystical Space Typhoon next turn, targeting LaPalme’s face-down Book of Moon, and when Light and Darkness Dragon tried to negate it, Burrows Chained Return from the Different Dimension and paid half of his Life Points to try to Special Summon D.D. Survivor. LaPalme Chained Book of Moon to the Return from the Different Dimension and put her Light and Darkness Dragon face-down to reset its ATK and DEF before the Survivor hit the field! LaPalme flipped Mind Crush naming Caius the Shadow Monarch after D.D. Survivor was Summoned, and Burrows revealed D.D. Survivor from his hand; LaPalme discarded Delta Flyer from her hand due to the effect of Mind Crush, and Burrows quickly conceded. He only had 525 Life Points remaining and was unable to mount a comeback.

Burrows started off Duel 2 by activating Pot of Duality, revealing Pot of Duality, Spirit Reaper, and D.D. Survivor from the top of his Deck. He added the Pot to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He Set a monster along with 4 Spell or Trap Cards and ended his turn.

LaPalme opened up with Effect Veiler, Masked Dragon, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Red-Eyes Wyvern, Dodger Dragon, and Gold Sarcophagus. She activated Gold Sarcophagus to grab Giant Trunade from her Deck and remove it from the Duel so that she could reclaim it 2 turns later. Then she Normal Summoned Dodger Dragon, but lost out to Bottomless Trap Hole. She ended her turn without any cards on the field.

Burrows activated Pot of Duality next turn, revealing Monster Reborn, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Mirror Force from the top of his Deck. He added Bottomless Trap Hole to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Next, he Flip Summoned Spirit Reaper and attacked LaPalme directly, forcing her to discard her Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. Burrows Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

LaPalme drew Solemn Judgment next turn. She Set it along with a Masked Dragon and then passed.

Burrows switched Reaper to Defense Position and ended his turn.

LaPalme drew Delta Flyer next turn. She Set her Wyvern and then passed to Burrows.

Burrows Tributed Spirit Reaper to Summon Caius the Shadow Monarch next turn, and LaPalme flipped Solemn Judgment and paid 3850 Life Points to negate its Summon.

LaPalme drew Future Fusion! She activated Giant Trunade to return all 5 of Burrows’s back rows to his hand, then used Future Fusion to send, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Red-Eyes Wyvern, Prime Material Dragon, Koa’ki Meiru Drago, and Totem Dragon from her Deck to her Graveyard so that she’d be able to Summon Five-Headed Dragon 2 turns later. Next, she flipped up her Wyvern and Normal Summoned Delta Flyer. She raised Delta Flyer’s Level by 1 with its effect and Tuned it with the Wyvern to Synchro Summon Stardust Dragon. Then she flipped Masked Dragon and attacked directly with her 2 Dragons to drop Burrows down to 4100 Life Points.

Burrows activated Monster Reborn next turn to Special Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from LaPalme’s Graveyard. He attacked her Stardust Dragon to destroy it and drop LaPalme down to 3550 Life Points, and then Set 5 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

LaPalme drew Seven Tools of the Bandit and Set it. She switched Masked Dragon to Defense Position and then entered her End Phase. When she tried to remove a Wyvern from her Graveyard to Special Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Burrows flipped Royal Oppression and paid 800 Life Points to negate the Wyvern’s effect.

Burrows Summoned D.D. Survivor next turn and attacked Masked Dragon. He tried to negate the Dragon’s effect with Solemn Warning, but LaPalme flipped Seven Tools of the Bandit. Masked Dragon Special Summoned another copy of itself from her Deck in Defense Position, and when Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon destroyed the new Dragon in battle, there were no more monsters that LaPalme could Special Summon with its effect.

LaPalme drew Koa’ki Meiru Drago next turn and conceded, unable to defeat her own Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. A huge play with Monster Reborn allows Burrows to take the lead in Duel 2 and push the Match to a final Duel! Amanda LaPalme will be going fist in Duel 3!

LaPalme opened up with Monster Reborn, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Giant Trunade, Seven Tools of the Bandit, Torrential Tribute, and Masked Dragon. She Set Masked Dragon along with Seven Tools and Torrential Tribute, ending her turn.

Burrows started off his first turn of the Match by activating Pot of Duality and revealing D.D. Warrior Lady, Dimensional Prison, and Prohibition from the top of his Deck. He added the Dimensional Prison to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He activated Dimensional Fissure and then Normal Summoned D.D. Survivor. He attacked Masked Dragon with his Survivor next, removing it from the Duel and preventing its effect from activating. Burrows Set 2 cards to his back row before passing to LaPalme.

LaPalme drew Solemn Warning and Set it.

Burrows Normal Summoned Spirit Reaper and LaPalme cleared the field with Torrential Tribute! When Burrows tried to Special Summon D.D. Survivor in the End Phase, LaPalme flipped Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to prevent it from coming back.

LaPalme drew Future Fusion next turn! She activated Giant Trunade to clear Burrows’s field for the turn and then used Future Fusion to send Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Koa’ki Meiru Drago, Prime Material Dragon, and 2 copies of Red-Eyes Wyvern from her Deck to her Graveyard. Next, she activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from her Graveyard. Then she Normal Summoned a Wyvern and removed it from the Duel to Special Summon a Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from her hand. Finally, she activated the effect of one of her Dragons to Special Summon Prime Material Dragon from her Graveyard. Direct attacks from Prime Material Dragon and both Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragons wiped out all 8000 of Burrows’s Life Points in a single Battle Phase!
