Juan Morales is currently 5-0 with his Deck built around Reborn Tengu and Genex Ally Birdman, and now he’s facing off against Anthony Alvarado, who is undefeated with a Plant Synchro Deck! Morales is taking full advantage of the new cards by packing his Main Deck with a full set of Tengus and Birdmans, and Alvarado is using 3 copies of Tour Guide From the Underworld, just to grab Sangan and other Tour Guides from his Deck.

Alvarado started off the Match by Normal Summoning Lonefire Blossom and Tributing it to Special Summon another copy from his Deck. Then he Tributed that second copy to Special Summon Dandylion in Defense Position. Alvarado ended his turn without a back row.

Morales opened up with Monster Reborn, Mystical Space Typhoon, Genex Ally Birdman, Gravekeeper’s Spy, Reborn Tengu, and Gravekeeper’s Descendant. He Set Gravekeeper’s Spy and Mystical Space Typhoon before ending his turn.

Alvarado Set 2 cards to his back row and then Set a monster.

Morales drew Debris Dragon and tried to Flip Summon Gravekeeper’s Spy; but Alvarado flipped Solemn Warning to negate its Summon at the cost of 2000 Life Points. Next, Morales Normal Summoned Reborn Tengu and used it to attack and destroy Alvarado’s Dandylion. Alvarado Special Summoned 2 Fluff Tokens and play passed to him.

Alvarado Flip Summoned Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter targeting Morales’s face-down Mystical Space Typhoon, and Morales Chained it to destroy Alvarado’s face-down Solemn Judgment. Alvarado sent Limit Reverse, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Monster Reborn from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard with the effect of Ryko. He Set 1 card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Morales drew another Mystical Space Typhoon next turn. He activated it to destroy Alvarado’s face-down Pot of Avarice, then Special Summoned Genex Ally Birdman by returning Reborn Tengu from his field to his hand. Birdman hit the field with 1900 ATK and Morales Special Summoned another Tengu from his Deck. Then he Normal Summoned the Tengu that he returned to his hand. Birdman attacked and destroyed Alvarado’s Attack Position Ryko, dropping Alvarado down to 4300 Life Points, and then Morales’s 2 Tengus wiped out Alvarado’s Fluff Tokens.

Alvarado Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld next turn and activated her effect to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck in Defense Position. He ended his turn with no other play.

Morales drew Pot of Avarice next turn, but couldn’t yet activate it. He used Monster Reborn to revive Ryko from Alvarado’s Graveyard, and then Tuned it with Birdman and Reborn Tengu to Synchro Summon Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! Trishula removed Sangan from the field, Dandylion from Alvarado’s Graveyard, and D.D. Crow from Alvarado’s hand. Morales Special Summoned another copy of Tengu from his Deck thanks to the ability of Reborn Tengu. Trishula attacked and destroyed Tour Guide, and then direct attacks from the 2 copies of Reborn Tengu wiped out Alvarado’s last 2600 Life Points!

Juan Morales makes effective use of his Reborn Tengus to overcome Alvarado’s Plants in the first Duel, and makes a strong finish with Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! Anthony Alvarado will be going first in Duel 2!

Alvarado started off Duel 2 by Summoning Tour Guide From the Underworld and activating her effect to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck in Defense Position. Then he Set 2 cards to his back row and passed.

Morales opened up the second Duel with Reborn Tengu, Solemn Warning, Gravekeeper’s Spy, Mystical Space Typhoon, and 2 copies of D.D. Warrior Lady. He activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Alvarado’s face-down Debunk and then Summoned D.D. Warrior Lady to the field and attacked Alvarado’s Tour Guide with it. Alvarado lost 500 Life Points and his Tour Guide was destroyed. Morales Set Solemn Warning before ending his turn.

Alvarado Summoned Spore next turn, forgetting that the Sangan on his field couldn’t be used in a Synchro Summon due to Tour Guide’s effect. He Set a card to his back row and passed.

Morales drew another Mystical Space Typhoon next turn. He attacked Spore with D.D. Warrior Lady and removed it from the Duel with her effect while dropping Alvarado down to 6400 Life Points. Morales Set Gravekeeper’s Spy and Mystical Space Typhoon in Main Phase 2.

Alvarado Set a monster and ended his turn.

Morales drew Gorz the Emissary of Darkness on his next turn. He activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Alvarado’s face-down Call of the Haunted, then Flip Summoned Gravekeeper’s Spy. He activated the Spy’s effect, but Alvarado discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate it. Morales Summoned D.D. Warrior Lady next, and attacked Sangan with it, removing the Warrior Lady and Sangan from the Duel with her effect.

Alvarado passed his next turn after drawing.

Morales drew Banisher of the Radiance and then Normal Summoned Reborn Tengu. Spy attacked Alvarado’s face-down Ryko, and Ryko destroyed Morales’s face-down Solemn Warning with its effect while sending Debunk, Effect Veiler, and Chaos Hunter from the top of Alvarado’s Deck to his Graveyard. Tengu attacked directly and Morales ended his turn.

Alvarado removed Chaos Hunter and Effect Veiler from his Graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Sorcerer, and then attacked Gravekeeper’s Spy with his Sorcerer to drop Morales down to 6900 Life Points and destroy the Spy.

Morales drew Solemn Warning next turn and switched his Tengu to Defense Position before passing.

Alvarado activated his Sorcerer’s effect to remove Tengu from the Duel, and Morales Special Summoned another copy from his Deck with its effect.

Morales drew Gravekeeper’s Spy next turn. He switched Tengu to Defense Position and Set his Spy along with a Solemn Warning, ending his turn.

Alvarado removed Reborn Tengu from the Duel with his Sorcerer again on his next turn, and Morales Special Summoned another copy from his Deck. Alvarado Set a monster and passed.

Morales drew Book of Moon and then Flip Summoned his Gravekeeper’s Spy. He used its effect to Special Summon Gravekeeper’s Descendant from his Deck, and then activated the Descendant’s effect to Tribute Gravekeeper’s Spy and destroy Alvarado’s Chaos Sorcerer. Gravekeeper’s Descendant attacked and destroyed Alvarado’s face-down Dandylion, and then Reborn Tengu destroyed one of the 2 newly Summoned Fluff Tokens. Morales Set Book of Moon and ended his turn.

Alvarado activated Giant Trunade next turn to return all Spell and Trap Cards to their owners’ hands. Then he removed Chaos Sorcerer and Effect Veiler from his Graveyard to Special Summon another Chaos Sorcerer, and attacked Gravekeeper’s Descendant with the Sorcerer, dropping Morales down to 6100 Life Points. Alvarado Set 2 cards to his back row and ended his turn.

Morales drew a second copy of Banisher of the Radiance next turn. He attacked Alvarado’s Fluff Token with Reborn Tengu and then ended his turn without Setting a card to his back row.

Alvarado removed Morales’s last Tengu from the Duel on his next turn with the effect of Chaos Sorcerer and then Set a third card to his back row before passing.

Morales drew and Summoned Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress next turn. He activated her effect to destroy Alvarado’s face-down Mystical Space Typhoon and then sent Chaos Sorcerer, Gravekeeper’s Spy, and Genex Ally Birdman from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard with Lyla’s effect in the End Phase.

Alvarado removed Lyla from the Duel with his Sorcerer and then Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld. He activated her effect to Special Summon another copy from his Deck and then attacked directly with a Tour Guide. Morales took 1000 points of damage and then Special Summoned Gorz the Emissary of Darkness from his hand in Defense Position, with a 1000 DEF Emissary of Darkness Token in Defense Position! Alvarado ended his turn.

Morales drew Card Trooper next turn. He Normal Summoned Banisher of the Radiance and then switched his Gorz into Attack Position. Gorz attacked Chaos Sorcerer, and Alvarado flipped Book of Moon to put the Gorz face-down and protect his Sorcerer. Then Banisher of the Radiance attacked and removed the Tour Guide that Alvarado had Normal Summoned. He Set Book of Moon and Solemn Warning before ending his turn.

Alvarado attacked the face-down Gorz with his Tour Guide on the following turn, bringing himself down to 2600 Life Points, and then activated his Sorcerer’s effect to try to remove Gorz from the Duel; but Morales flipped Book of Moon and put the Gorz face-down to protect it! Alvarado Normal Summoned Glow-Up Bulb in Main Phase 2 and Tuned it with Chaos Sorcerer to try to Synchro Summon Arcanite Magician; but Morales flipped Solemn Warning and gave up 2000 Life Points to negate the Summon! Morales was down to 3100 Life Points. Alvarado activated Dark Hole in Main Phase 2, clearing the field to finally get rid of Gorz and Banisher of the Radiance!

Morales drew Junk Synchron next turn. He Summoned Banisher of the Radiance and attacked Alvarado directly, dropping him down to only 1000 Life Points.

Alvarado drew a card and Set it.

Morales drew Dark Hole and then attacked directly with Banisher of the Radiance, winning the Duel 2-0!
