Round 7: Johnathan “Nevermore” Harrison VS Matt “Entropy” Williamson
Johnathan Harrison is 5-1 in this tournament with Blackwings, traveling here this weekend from Washington D.C. to secure one of the best records for a Blackwing Duelist so far this weekend. His opponent is Orlando native Matthew Williamson, piloting a Chaos Plant Synchro Deck.
Williamson started things off with Pot of Duality, revealing Dimensional Prison, Pot of Avarice, and Card Trooper from the top of his Deck: he added Prison to his hand, then Set a monster, and Set a Spell or Trap.
Harrison had a hand of Monster Reborn; Blackwing – Kalut the Moonshadow; Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind; Allure of Darkness; Effect Veiler; and Doomcaliber Knight. He Summoned Doomcaliber and ended without attacking.

Harrison drew Cards for Black Feathers, and then activated Allure of Darkness to draw Blackwing – Blizzard the far North and Dark Armed Dragon. He removed Kalut to complete Allure’s effect. He removed Blizzard next, drawing Black Whirlwind and Royal Oppression with Cards for Black Feathers. Harrison Set Oppression.
Williamson attacked with Mystic Tomato again, and Set a monster.
Harrison drew Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor and Set it.
Williamson Flip Summoned Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, targeting Harrison’s face-down Oppression with Ryko’s effect, but Harrison Chained Effect Veiler’s ability to negate the destruction. Mystic Tomato attacked to destroy Vayu, and Ryko attacked for 200 Battle Damage.
Harrison drew Dark Armed Dragon. He Normal Sumoned Gale and used its effect to halve Mystic Tomato’s ATK. He ended his turn without attacking.

Harrison drew and activated Mystical Space Typhoon, dstroying Williamson’s Dimensional Prison. He attacked with Gale to destroy Ryko, then Set Black Whirlwind.
Williamson Set a monster.
Harrison drew another Doomcaliber Knight. He Summoned it, then attacked into Mirror Force, losing Doomcaliber and Gale!
Williamson Flip Summoned Dandylion for a quick 300 Battle Damage. He Set a Spell or Trap.
Harrison drew Card Trooper, Summoning it and activating its effect to send Vayu, Book of Moon, and Gorz the Emissary of Darkness to his Graveyard. Card Trooper went to 1900 ATK and ran over Dandylion, letting Williamson Special Summon 2 Fluff Tokens.
Williamson removed Ryko and Catastor from the game, Special Summoning Chaos Sorcerer: when Harrison responded with Royal Oppression’s effect, Williamson Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Oppression. He then used the Sorcerer’s effect to remove Card Trooper from the game. He Normal Summoned Effect Veiler to Tune it to a Fluff Token, drawing a card with Formula Synchron. He Tuned Synchron to Sorcerer and the second Fluff Token, unleashing Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier: Harrison negated its effect with Veiler. Trishula made a direct attack though, still dropping Harrison down to 400 Life Points.
Harrison drew to 3 cards in hand, holding Monster Reborn; Dark Armed Dragon; and Dimensional Prison. He activated Reborn, Special Summoning Chaos Sorcerer: when he tried to use it to remove Trishula, Williamson countered with Effect Veiler. Harrison Set Dimensional Prison, but lost it to Mystical Space Typhoon, and Card Trooper sealed the Duel next turn.
Matthew Williamson takes a grueling first Duel, fighting through Royal Oppression to cut loose with Chaos Sorcerer and Trishula! Johnathan Harrison had his work cut out for him if he was to pull this one out of the fire.
Harrison opened up Duel 2 with a hand of Dust Tornado; Icarus Attack; Monster Reborn; Mystical Space Typhoon; Book of Moon; and Skill Drain. He Set 4 cards to his back row.
Williamson activated Pot of Duality, revealing Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, Card Trooper, and Dimensional Prison: he took Trooper, shuffling the rest back. He Summoned Trooper, then sent Mirror Force, Dust Tornado, and Mystical Space Typhoon to his Graveyard to boost its ATK. Another Typhoon was activated from his hand, and when it targeted Harrison’s Book of Moon, Harrison Chained it to turn Trooper face-down. Williamson Set Torrential Tribute, and lost it to Dust Tornado.
Harrison drew and Summoned Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn, and attacked to destroy Card Trooper. Williamson drew a card for Trooper’s effect.
Williamson Set a monster.
Harrison drew Blackwing – Blizzard the far North, and activated Skill Drain. Sirocco attacked, destroying Mystic Tomato. Its effect activated in the Graveyard, and Williamson Special Summoned Sangan. Harrison Summoned Blizzard and ended, threatening the Icarus Attack.

Williamson activated Pot of Avarice, returning Sangan, 2 Card Troopers, and 2 Lonefire Blossoms to his Deck. He drew 2 cards, then Summoned Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress to attack Harrison’s Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo. He Set Solemn Warning, but lost it to Mystical Space Typhoon in the End Phase.
Harrison drew Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, and Flip Summoned Kalut. Kalut attacked a Fluff Token, and Thunder King attacked Lyla, destroying her.
Williamson Summoned Lonefire Blossom, and Tributed it to Special Summon another. He Tributed that Lonefire to Special Summon Glow-Up Bulb in Defense Position, then removed Mystic Tomato and Lyla from his Graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Sorcerer. It attacked Thunder King, and Harrison responded by activating with Icarus Attack, Tributing Kalut to destroy Glow-Up Bulb and the Sorcerer.
Harrison’s next draw was Mystical Space Typhoon, holding Gorz and Monster Reborn. He still had Thunder King and Skill Drain on the field, while Williamson controlled a single Fluff Token with a hand full of cards. The Duel stood at 7800 Life Points to 7000, with Williamson leading. Harrison attacked the Fluff Token with Thunder King and Set Typhoon.
Williamson activated Monster Reborn, Special Summoning back his Sorcerer to attack over Thunder King!
Harrison drew Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame, then brought back Glow-Up Bulb with Monster Reborn. He Summoned Shura, Tuned it to the Bulb to Synchro Summon Magical Android, and attacked over Chaos Sorcerer.

Williamson Set a single Spell or Trap.
Harrison drew Solemn Judgment. He Normal Summoned Thunder King, then attacked with it to destroy Gale. He Set Judgment, and turned Gorz to Defense. In the End Phase, Williamson brought back Chaos Sorcerer with Call of the Haunted!
Williamson used Sorcerer to remove Thunder King from the game, then removed Glow-Up Bulb to Special Summon Spore. He Tuned the Level 2 Spore to Sorcerer for Scrap Dragon, but lost out to Solemn Judgment! Williamson still had 5 cards in hand, though, and Normal Summoned Debris Dragon. Harrison knew it was time to pack it in, and offered the handshake.
Matthew Williamson takes a 2-0 victory, and moves on to the last round of Day 1 with a 6-1 record!
