Top 4: Honorable Vincent Cassello VS Ally Juan Morales
Juan Morales just defeated a Six Samurai Deck in his Top 8 Feature Match, and now he’ll have to do it again with his Birdman Tengu Deck if he wants to move on to the Finals. But like the Six Samurai opponents before him, Vincent Cassello will be doing everything he can to defeat Juan Morales and advance in the tournament instead of him.
Morales started off the Match by activating Pot of Duality, revealing Pot of Avarice, Unknown Synchron, and Monster Reborn from the top of his Deck. He added the Monster Reborn to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He Set a card to each zone and passed.
Cassello opened up with Monster Reborn, Giant Trunade, Dust Tornado, Six Samurai United, Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan, and Double-Edged Sword Technique. He Set Dust Tornado and Double-Edged Sword Technique before ending his turn. In his End Phase, Morales flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the Double-Edged Sword Technique.
Morales Flip Summoned Card Trooper next turn and activated its effect by sending Effect Veiler, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, and Pot of Duality from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Trooper struck Cassello directly, and Cassello dropped down to 6100 Life Points. Morales Set a monster before ending his turn without a back row.
Cassello drew another Double-Edged Sword Technique next turn and Set it.
Morales Flip Summoned Gravekeeper’s Spy and activated its effect to Special Summon a Spy from his Deck in Defense Position. Then he returned that Gravekeeper’s Spy to his hand in order to Special Summon Genex Ally Birdman, and Tuned Birdman with the other Spy to Synchro Summon Arcanite Magician in Defense Position! Morales removed both Spell Counters for Arcanite Magician to destroy Cassello’s face-down Dust Tornado and Double-Edged Sword Technique. Next, Morales sent Reborn Tengu, Effect Veiler, and Dandylion from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard to boost Card Trooper to 1900 ATK. Dandylion’s effect activated, allowing Morales to Special Summon 2 Fluff Tokens to the field in Defense Position. Morales activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Effect Veiler from his Graveyard and then Tuned Effect Veiler with Arcanite Magician and a Fluff Token to Synchro Summon Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Trishula removed Six Samurai United from Cassello’s hand and then Morales attacked directly with Card Trooper and Trishula to drop Cassello down to 1500 Life Points. Morales Set a monster before ending his turn.
Cassello drew Reinforcement of the Army next turn. He activated it to search his Deck for Hand of the Six Samurai and add it to his hand. He Normal Summoned Hand and then Special Summoned Kizan. Kizan attacked and destroyed Card Trooper, dropping Morales down to 6600 Life Points and allowing Morales to draw a card with Card Trooper’s effect. Then Hand of the Six Samurai attacked and destroyed a Fluff Token. In Main Phase 2, Cassello Tributed Kizan with the effect of his Hand in order to destroy Trishula.
Morales Flip Summoned Gravekeeper’s Spy next turn and activated its effect to Special Summon another Spy from his Deck. Then he Normal Summoned Gravekeeper’s Descendant and Tributed a Spy to destroy Hand. A direct attack from Gravekeeper’s Descendant wiped out the last 1500 of Cassello’s Life Points!
Juan Morales applies constant pressure against Vincent Cassello’s weak opening, and rides his Synchro Monsters to a victory in Duel 1! Cassello will be going first in Duel 2!
Cassello opened up Duel 2 with Book of Moon, Shien’s Smoke Signal, Musakani Magatama, Rivalry of Warlords, Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan, and Dimensional Fissure. He activated the Smoke Signal to add a Kagemusha to his hand and then Normal Summoned it to the field. He Special Summoned Kizan next, and then activated Dimensional Fissure. He Set Book of Moon, Magatama, and Rivalry before ending his turn.
Morales activated Pot of Duality on his first turn, revealing D.D. Warrior Lady, Effect Veiler, and Gorz the Emissary of Darkness from the top of his Deck. He added Gorz to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He Set a monster before passing to Cassello.
Cassello drew Royal Oppression and then attacked Morales’s face-down Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo with Kizan. Since Kizan was Special Summoned, Fossil Dyna threatened to destroy it. Cassello flipped Musakani Magatama to negate the Fossil Dyna’s effect, and then ended his turn without attacking with Kagemusha since he knew Morales had Gorz.
Morales activated another Pot of Duality next turn, this time revealing Book of Moon, Fossil Dyna, and Reborn Tengu from the top of his Deck. He added the Fossil Dyna to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He Set a monster and ended his turn.
Cassello drew and Set Solemn Judgment. He switched his Kagemusha to Defense Position and then ended his turn without attacking Morales’s face-down monster.
Morales Set a second monster to the field on his next turn and then passed.
Cassello drew Mystical Space Typhoon next turn before passing.
Morales Flip Summoned Fossil Dyna and Cassello paid 4000 Life Points and flipped Solemn Judgment to negate its Summon. Morales Set a monster before concluding his turn.
Cassello drew Nobleman of Crossout next turn. He activated it to remove Morales’s face-down Gravekeeper’s Spy from the Duel, along with 2 more copies from his Deck. Cassello attacked Morales’s face-down D.D. Warrior Lady with Kizan, and both monsters were removed from the Duel by the Warrior Lady’s effect. Cassello Set Mystical Space Typhoon in Main Phase 2.
Morales drew a card and passed with no cards on the field.
Cassello drew Monster Reborn and passed.
Morales Set a monster and ended his turn.
Cassello drew Gateway of the Six and passed.
Morales Set a Mystical Space Typhoon to his back row and lost it in the End Phase to Cassello’s Mystical Space Typhoon.
Cassello drew Mirror Force and ended his turn.
Morales Flip Summoned Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter to destroy Kagemusha and get rid of Solemn Judgment, Dimensional Prison, and Glow-Up Bulb from his Deck. Glow-Up Bulb was removed from the Duel by Dimensional Fissure. Morales Summoned Reborn Tengu next, and declared an attack with Ryko. Cassello flipped Rivalry of Warlords, and Morales sent Ryko to the Graveyard in order to keep his Tengu on the field. Tengu attacked directly, costing Cassello 1700 Life Points. Morales finally Set 3 cards to his back row and passed.
Cassello drew Kagemusha of the Six Samurai next turn. He activated Gateway of the Six and then tried to Normal Summon Kagemusha; but Morales flipped Solemn Warning and negated the Summon! Cassello ended his turn with no monsters on the field, but 5 cards in his Spell and Trap Card Zone.
Morales Normal Summoned a second copy of Reborn Tengu next turn, and attacked directly with 1 Tengu, dropping Cassello down to 600 Life Points. When Morales attacked with his other Tengu, Cassello flipped Book of Moon to put it face-down and stay in the Duel.
Cassello drew Giant Trunade next turn. He Set Mirror Force and passed.
Morales Flip Summoned Reborn Tengu on his next turn and then attacked with the first of his 2 Tengus. Cassello flipped Mirror Force to destroy both Tengus, but it was all over moments later! Morales Special Summoned the third Tengu from his Deck, and 1 direct attack later, Vincent Cassello was out of the tournament!
