Deck Profile: Marc Hahn’s Fairy Deck

June 19th, 2011

Marc Hahn’s Dimensional Fairy Deck Summons big monsters with ease! Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen allows him to Special Summon them from his hand, and cards like Miraculous Descent allow him to Special Summon Fairies that have been banished. These cards give Hahn’s Deck more power than most of the other Fairy Decks entered into this weekend’s tournament. Check out his list!

Hahn’s Deck can banish big Fairies like Archlord Kristya, Master Hyperion, and Tethys, Goddess of Light by activating Cards from the Sky, or using the effects of Dimensional Alchemist or Master Hyperion. Once banished, Hahn’s monsters are exactly where he wants them.

He can return them to the field with the flip of a card thanks to Miraculous Descent, D.D.R. – Different Dimension Reincarnation, and Return from the Different Dimension, and from there, he can proceed to dominate the Duel. He even uses 2 copies of Sanctuary in the Sky in his Deck. While it’s on the field, he can also use the effect of The Agent of Miracles – Jupiter to Special Summon his banished monsters.

Although Hahn’s Deck isn’t dependent on Sanctuary to win, he can also put it to use when he draws it by creating the option of searching for Master Hyperion with the effect of The Agent of Mystery – Earth, and by allowing his Master Hyperion to use its effect twice in one turn.

Even when he’s unable to Special Summon his banished monsters, Hahn can sometimes return them to his hand with the effect of his Dimensional Alchemist. If Hahn banishes an Honest from his hand in order to use Cards from the Sky, for example, he can bring it back to his hand later on when his Alchemist is destroyed.

But even when Hahn doesn’t have any big Fairies that were banished, he can still Special Summon huge monsters to the field. Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen allows Hahn to Special Summon any Fairy he draws.

“I like that Valhalla can’t be hit by Solemn Warning,” Hahn told me. “It gets around a power card.” Hahn likes to Special Summon Kristya with his Valhalla, to pin down his opponent’s plays without resistance.

Hahn can also use Valhalla to Special Summon Tethys from his hand. With 19 Fairy-Type monster in his Deck, every time Hahn draws a card, whether it’s the first card he draws for the turn or a card he picks up with Cards from the Sky, Hahn has nearly a 50% chance of being able to reveal it and draw another card with the effect of Tethys. Hahn can even draw a new card every time he draws a Fairy from the effect of Tethys, allowing him to draw lots of cards in a single turn when Tethys is on the field!

Special Summoning Master Hyperion with Valhalla is also a strong play, since it gives Hahn instant access to a means of destroying his opponents’ cards. Hyperion can destroy an opponent’s card each turn by banishing a Fairy from the Graveyard, and can often be tough to take down due to its 2700 ATK.

Hahn’s Deck is packed with big threats that force his opponent to act immediately, and Hahn has tons of easy ways to Summon them. In future tournaments, we may see a lot more Duelists using the strategies Hahn used this weekend, and sneaking their Fairy monsters into play with card effects.
