Jesus Santos from Buffalo, New York is facing off against Ricardo Escobar from Puerto Rico in the Top 4 of our point playoffs this weekend! These 2 Duelists racked up some of the most points by playing in Public Events all weekend, and now they’re both 2 wins away from a set of Darklord Prize Cards. Jesus Santos is counting on his X-Saber Deck to take him to the top, while Ricardo Escobar is trusting in his Samurais.

Escobar started off the Match by activating Dimensional Fissure and Setting 2 cards to his back row.

Santos opened up with Pot of Duality, XX-Saber Emmersblade, 2 copies of X-Saber Pashuul, and 2 copies of Gottoms’ Emergency Call. He activated Pot of Duality, revealing Torrential Tribute and 2 copies of XX-Saber Darksoul from the top of his Deck. He added the Torrential to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Santos Set Pashuul before ending his turn.

Escobar activated Gateway of the Six on his next turn and then Normal Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki, adding 2 Bushido Counters to his Gateway. Next, he Special Summoned Grandmaster of the Six Samurai from his hand, allowing him to add 2 more Counters to his Gateway. He removed 4 Bushido Counters from his Gateway in order to search his Deck for Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan and add it to his hand. Kageki attacked Santos’s face-down Pashuul, flipping it face-up, and then Escobar ended his turn.

Santos drew XX-Saber Fulhelmknight. He Set Gottoms’ Emergency Call and Torrential Tribute and then ended his turn.

Escobar drew a card for his turn and then Santos lost 1000 Life Points in his Standby Phase due to the effect of Pashuul. Escobar Normal Summoned Hand of the Six Samurai next, activating its effect to Tribute Kageki and destroy Pashuul. Santos activated Torrential Tribute to try to clear the field, but Escobar negated it with Solemn Judgment! Escobar added 2 Counters to his Gateway due to the Summon of Hand and then Special Summoned Kizan to the field, gaining another 2 Counters on his Gateway. He removed 4 Counters from his Gateway to search his Deck for another Kizan and Santos immediately conceded, knowing that Hand of the Six Samurai, Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, and 2 copies of Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan would take him down that turn!

Ricardo Escobar swarms the field with Samurais thanks to Gateway of the Six in order to take a speedy victory in the first Duel! Jesus Santos will be going first in Duel 2!

Santos opened up Duel 2 with Solemn Warning, Effect Veiler, Mirror Force, Puppet Plant, Pot of Duality, and Gozen Match. He activated Pot of Duality first, revealing Solemn Warning, Seven Tools of the Bandit, and XX-Saber Darksoul from the top of his Deck. He added Darksoul to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He Set Darksoul face-down along with Solemn Warning and Gozen Match in his back row before ending his turn.

Escobar Set a card to each zone and passed.

Santos drew XX-Saber Faultroll and then Set Mirror Force face-down.

Escobar Set a card to his back row and passed.

Santos drew Solemn Warning next turn and passed.

Escobar passed without making a play.

Santos drew XX-Saber Boggart Knight next turn and play passed to Escobar.

Escobar Flip Summoned Kinetic Soldier and then attacked Santos’s face-down Darksoul; but Santos flipped Mirror Force to destroy the attacking Kinetic Soldier! Escobar Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Santos drew another copy of Gozen Match and then Set Solemn Warning.

Escobar activated Six Samurai United and then tried to Normal Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan; but Santos flipped Solemn Warning and paid 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon!

Santos drew Solemn Judgment next turn and Set it.

Escobar Normal Summoned Kageki and then activated its effect to Special Summon Hand of the Six Samurai from his hand. Santos flipped Gozen Match when Hand hit the field, and Escobar Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to try to destroy it; but Santos flipped Solemn Judgment to negate the Mystical Space Typhoon, and Escobar sent Hand of the Six Samurai to the Graveyard due to the effect of Gozen Match! Six Samurai United gained 2 Bushido Counters from the Summons of Kageki and Hand, so Escobar sent it to the Graveyard to draw 2 cards. Next, Escobar flipped his face-down Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Gozen Match. He followed up by Special Summoning Grandmaster of the Six Samurai. Escobar attacked Santos’s face-down Darksoul with Grandmaster, sending it to the Graveyard, and then Kageki attacked directly, dropping Santos down to 1300 Life Points. Escobar Set 2 cards to his back row before entering his End Phase. In the End Phase, Santos added X-Saber Pashuul from his Deck to his hand with the effect of Darksoul.

Santos drew Imperial Iron Wall next turn. He Normal Summoned Boggart Knight and then activated its effect to Special Summon X-Saber Pashuul from his hand in Defense Position. Next, he Special Summoned XX-Saber Faultroll in Attack Position. Santos discarded Puppet Plant from his hand next, in order to gain control of Escobar’s Grandmaster of the Six Samurai. After Santos took control of it, Escobar flipped Book of Moon to put X-Saber Pashuul face-down. Santos attacked Kageki with Grandmaster next, and Escobar flipped Mirror Force to destroy Santos’s Attack Position Grandmaster, Faultroll, and Boggart Knight. In Main Phase 2, Santos Set Gozen Match and Imperial Iron Wall.

Escobar flipped his face-down Shien’s Smoke Signal next turn, using its effect to search his Deck for a copy of Kageki to add to his hand. When Escobar added it to his hand, Santos flipped Gozen Match. Escobar attacked Santos’s face-down Pashuul to flip it face-up, then Set a card to his back row and ended his turn.

Santos drew and Summoned XX-Saber Emmersblade next turn. He Tuned it with Pashuul to Synchro Summon Naturia Beast and then attacked Kageki. Escobar flipped Malevolent Catastrophe to destroy Santos’s face-up Gozen Match and face-down Imperial Iron Wall and Solemn Warning, then Kageki was destroyed by the Beast’s attack, and Escobar dropped down to 6000 Life Points.

Escobar Normal Summoned Kageki next turn and activated its effect, but its effect was negated when Santos discarded Effect Veiler from his hand!

Santos drew Torrential Tribute next turn. He attacked Kageki with Naturia Beast to drop Escobar down to 4000 Life Points, and then Set Torrential Tribute in his Spell and Trap Card Zone.

Escobar Set a card to his back row and passed.

Santos drew XX-Saber Faultroll next turn. He attacked directly with Naturia Beast to drop Escobar to 1800 Life Points and then ended his turn.

Escobar Set a card to each zone and passed.

Santos drew Imperial Iron Wall next turn. He attacked and destroyed Escobar’s face-down Effect Veiler, then Set his Iron Wall in Main Phase 2.

Escobar Set a monster and passed.

Santos drew Saber Slash next turn. He attacked and destroyed Escobar’s face-down Hand of the Six Samurai with Naturia Beast before play passed back to Escobar.

Escobar tried activating 2 copies of Shien’s Smoke Signal, a Reinforcement of the Army, and a Monster Reborn on his next turn, but Santos negated all 4 of his Spell Cards with Naturia Beast by sending the top 8 cards of his Deck to his Graveyard!

It was all over 1 turn later, when Santos attacked directly with Naturia Beast to wipe out the rest of Escobar’s Life Points!

Jesus Santos defeats Ricardo Escobar with Naturia Beast by scoring several successful attacks with it and using it to negate 4 of Escobar’s Spells! Ricardo Escobar will be going first in Duel 3!

Escobar started off Duel 3 by Setting 1 card to each zone.

Santos opened up with Smashing Ground, Pot of Duality, XX-Saber Boggart Knight, X-Saber Pashuul, XX-Saber Faultroll, and Monster Reborn. He started off his turn by activating Pot of Duality, revealing Gottoms’ Emergency Call, Gozen Match, and Dark Hole from the top of his Deck. He added Gozen Match to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Santos Set Gozen Match and Pashuul before ending his turn.

Escobar Flip Summoned Kinetic Soldier next turn and attacked Santos’s face-down Pashuul with it, flipping it face-up. Escobar Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Santos drew Mirror Force next turn. Then he activated Smashing Ground to destroy Kinetic Soldier. Next, he Normal Summoned XX-Saber Boggart Knight. Santos tried to Special Summon XX-Saber Faultroll next, but Escobar flipped Royal Oppression and paid 800 Life Points to negate its Summon. Boggart Knight attacked directly, dropping Escobar down to 5300 Life Points. Santos Set Mirror Force in Main Phase 2, but lost it to Escobar’s Mystical Space Typhoon in his End Phase.

Escobar drew a card for his turn and then Santos lost 1000 Life Points in Escobar’s Standby Phase due to the effect of Pashuul. In Main Phase 1, Escobar activated Six Samurai United and Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan to add a Bushido Counter to his Six Samurai United. Escobar sent Six Samurai United to the Graveyard to draw a card and then Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Santos drew Torrential Tribute next turn. He attacked and destroyed Kizan with Boggart Knight, then Set Torrential Tribute in Main Phase 2.

Escobar drew a card and Santos lost another 1000 Life Points due to the effect of Pashuul in his Standby Phase. Escobar Set a monster before passing to Santos.

Santos drew Solemn Judgment next turn. He attacked Escobar’s face-down Kageki with Boggart Knight, costing him 100 Life Points, then switched Pashuul to Attack Position so that he wouldn’t keep losing 1000 Life Points from Pashuul’s effect. He Set Solemn Judgment before ending his turn.

Escobar switched Kageki into Attack Position and attacked Pashuul, dealing 100 points of damage to Santos.

Santos drew Giant Trunade next turn! He activated it to return all Spell and Trap Cards on the field to their owners’ hands, then activated Monster Reborn to revive Escobar’s Kinetic Soldier! Kinetic Soldier attacked and destroyed Kageki while dealing 3150 points of damage to Escobar’s Life Points. Then Pashuul and Boggart Knight attacked directly, dropping Escobar down to 150 Life Points. Santos Tuned Kinetic Soldier with Pashuul in Main Phase 2 to Summon Naturia Beast. Next, he Set Solemn Judgment, Gozen Match, and Torrential Tribute.

Escobar Set a monster and Set 5 cards to his back row on his next turn.

Santos drew Solemn Warning next turn. He attacked Escobar’s face-down Kinetic Soldier with Naturia Beast, then attacked directly with Boggart Knight to wipe out the rest of Escobar’s Life Points!

Jesus Santos wins Duel 3 thanks to a huge play with Giant Trunade, and advances to the Finals of the point playoffs with his X-Saber Deck!
