Round 7 Feature Match: Scrapper Cebrahil Guler-Carrasquillo vs. Squirmin’ Mark Lundin
Mark Lundin and Cebrahil Guler-Carrasquillo are both currently 5-1 in the tournament. Lundin made it here with a Chaos Worm Deck, and his opponent, Guler-Carrasquillo, is using a Scrap Deck. Lundin will be aiming to defeat Guler-Carrasquillo before Guler-Carrasquillo can Summon Scrap Dragon. Once a Scrap Deck Summons Scrap Dragon, it becomes a difficult Match for the opponent to win.
Lundin opened up with Sangan, Solemn Judgment, Monster Reborn, W Nebula Meteorite, and 2 copies of Worm Cartaros. He Set Solemn Judgment and W Nebula Meteorite along with Worm Cartaros before ending his turn.
Guler-Carrasquillo Set a card to each zone and passed. In his End Phase, Lundin activated W Nebula Meteorite! His Worm Cartaros and Guler-Carrasquillo’s Sangan flipped face-up, and Lundin used his Cartaros’s effect to grab Worm Xex from his Deck. Next, Worm Cartaros was turned back face-down and Lundin drew Pot of Duality from his Deck. Then, Lundin Special Summoned Worm King from his Deck in Attack Position, all thanks to W Nebula Meteorite.
Lundin drew Solemn Warning next turn. He Flip Summoned Worm Cartaros to add another Xex from his Deck to his hand and then Tributed Worm Cartaros with the effect of his Worm King. Guler-Carrasquillo discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate the King’s effect and protect the card in his back row! Lundin Normal Summoned Worm Xex next and activated its effect to send Worm Yagan from his Deck to his Graveyard. Then he attacked Sangan with his Xex, destroying it in battle and allowing Guler-Carrasquillo to search his Deck for a copy of Scrap Goblin to add to his hand. Next, Worm King attacked directly, and Guler-Carrasquillo dropped down to 5300 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Lundin activated Pot of Duality, revealing Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, Worm Cartaros, and Offering to the Snake Deity from the top of his Deck. He added the Offering to the Snake Deity to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Then he Set Solemn Warning and Offering to the Snake Deity before ending his turn. In Lundin’s End Phase, Guler-Carrasquillo flipped Royal Decree, and Lundin gave up 4000 Life Points to negate and destroy it!
Guler-Carrasquillo activated Scrapyard next turn to search his Deck for Scrap Orthros and add it to his hand. He Normal Summoned Scrap Goblin and Lundin flipped Solemn Warning, paying 2000 Life Points to negate the Goblin’s Summon. Guler-Carrasquillo ended his turn with no cards on the field.
Lundin drew Spirit Reaper next turn. He Summoned another copy of Xex to the field and activated its effect to send Worm Yagan from his Deck to his Graveyard. Then both copies of Xex and the Worm King attacked directly, wiping out Guler-Carrasquillo’s remaining 5300 Life Points!
An early W Nebula Meteorite allows Mark Lundin to dominate the first Duel and defeat Cebrahil Guler-Carrassquillo with Worm King! Guler-Carrasquillo will be going first in Duel 2!
Guler-Carrasquillo started off Duel 2 by Setting 2 cards to his back row and Setting a monster.
Lundin opened up with Cyber Dragon, Mirror Force, Pot of Duality, Effect Veiler, Spirit Reaper, and Worm Cartaros. He activated Pot of Duality to reveal Gorz, Torrential Tribute, and Worm Cartaros from the top of his Deck. He chose to add Gorz to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards that he revealed back into his Deck. He Set Worm Cartaros and Mirror Force before ending his turn. In his End Phase, Guler-Carrasquillo flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Lundin’s face-down Mirror Force.
Guler-Carrasquillo Flip Summoned Scrap Goblin and then activated Scrapstorm, selecting Scrap Goblin. He sent Scrap Beast from his Deck to his Graveyard, then drew a card, and then destroyed Scrap Goblin. He chose not to use the Goblin’s effect to return Scrap Beast to his hand. Next, Guler-Carrasquillo Special Summoned Cyber Dragon from his hand. He Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera next, and when he tried to activate its effect, Lundin discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate its effect! Cyber Dragon attacked the Cartaros, flipping it up and allowing Lundin to grab a Worm Xex from his Deck to add to his hand. Guler-Carrasquillo Set a second card to his back row in Main Phase 2 and then ended his turn.
Lundin drew Worm King next turn. He Special Summoned Cyber Dragon and fused it with Guler-Carrasquillo’s Cyber Dragon to Special Summon Chimeratech Fortress Dragon from his Extra Deck with 2000 ATK! Next, he attacked Scrap Chimera with his Fortress Dragon, destroying it in battle and dealing 300 points of damage to Guler-Carrasquillo. In Main Phase 2, Lundin Set Spirit Reaper.
Guler-Carrasquillo Set a card to his back row and then Normal Summoned Reborn Tengu. He attacked Lundin’s face-down Spirit Reaper and the Reaper survived the battle.
Lundin drew Worm Yagan next turn. He Normal Summoned Worm Xex and activated its effect to send Worm Yagan from his Deck to his Graveyard. He attacked Tengu with his Xex, destroying the Tengu and allowing Guler-Carrasquillo to Special Summon another copy from his Deck in Defense Position. Chimeratech Fortress Dragon destroyed that one, and Guler-Carrasquillo Special Summoned another copy from his Deck. In Lundin’s End Phase, Guler-Carrasquillo used Call of the Haunted to revive Scrap Beast.
Guler-Carrasquillo drew a card and Set it. Then he Tuned Scrap Beast with Reborn Tengu to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon, and used its effect to destroy his face-up Call of the Haunted and Lundin’s Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. Scrap Dragon attacked and destroyed Worm Xex next, destroying it in battle and dropping Lundin down to 7000 Life Points.
Lundin drew Mystical Space Typhoon next turn. He Set it along with Worm Yagan and then passed. In his End Phase, Guler-Carrasquillo flipped Dust Tornado to destroy Lundin’s newly Set Mystical Space Typhoon.
Guler-Carrasquillo used his Scrap Dragon’s effect to destroy his own face-down Scrapstorm and Lundin’s face-down Yagan. He declined to attack, knowing Lundin had Gorz.
Lundin drew Worm Xex and passed.
Guler-Carrasquillo activated Scrapyard to search his Deck for Scrap Goblin. He Set it and then destroyed it along with Lundin’s Reaper by using Scrap Dragon’s effect. Guler-Carrasquillo returned Scrap Chimera to his hand with the effect of his Goblin.
Lundin drew Worm Xex next turn and Summoned it. Then he Special Summoned Yagan from his Graveyard, face-down on the field.
Guler-Carrasquillo Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera next turn and activated its effect to Special Summon Scrap Goblin in Defense Position. Then he used Scrap Dragon’s effect to destroy his own Chimera and Lundin’s face-down Yagan. Scrap Dragon attacked and destroyed Xex next. Guler-Carrasquillo Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.
Lundin drew Cyber Dragon next turn. With only Xex, Gorz, Worm King, and Cyber Dragon in his hand, he didn’t have a lot of plays against a Scrap Dragon. Lundin ended his turn without making a play.
Guler-Carrasquillo Special Summoned Scrap Orthros next turn, using its effect to destroy Scrap Goblin. Then he used the Goblin’s effect to return Scrap Chimera to his hand. He Summoned the Chimera and activated its effect to Special Summon Scrap Goblin from his Graveyard in Defense Position. Chimera attacked Lundin directly, and Lundin Special Summoned Gorz from his hand in Defense Position, along with an Emissary of Darkness Token in Defense Position. Scrap Dragon attacked and destroyed Gorz, and then in Main Phase 2, Guler-Carrasquillo Tuned Orthros with Chimera to Synchro Summon a second Scrap Dragon! Then he used his Dragon’s effect to destroy his own Scrap Goblin along with Lundin’s Emissary of Darkness Token. Scrap Goblin’s effect allowed Guler-Carrasquillo to add a Chimera from his Graveyard to his hand.
Lundin drew D.D. Crow next turn and then Summoned Xex to the field, choosing not to activate its effect. Next, he Special Summoned Yagan from his Graveyard face-down.
Guler-Carrasquillo drew a card and Set it. Then he Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera and used its effect to try to Special Summon Scrap Goblin; but Lundin discarded D.D. Crow to banish the Goblin from the Duel. Guler-Carrasquillo destroyed his newly Set card and Scrap Dragon to destroy Lundin’s Xex and Yagan, then attacked directly with both Scrap Dragons to wipe out Lundin’s last 4300 Life Points!
Guler-Carrasquillo manages to Summon Scrap Dragon and then uses it to dominate Duel 2! Mark Lundin will be going first in the final Duel of the Match!
Lundin opened up with Worm Cartaros, Worm King, Dark Hole, Worm Yagan, Solemn Warning, and Chaos Sorcerer. He Set Yagan and Solemn Warning, ending his turn.
Guler-Carrasquillo Special Summoned Cyber Dragon and Lundin flipped Solemn Warning, giving up 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon. Next, he activated Monster Reborn to revive Cyber Dragon. Then he Normal Summoned Scrap Goblin and Tuned it with Cyber Dragon to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon. He Set Scrapyard and destroyed it along with Lundin’s face-down Yagan by using his Dragon’s effect. Then he Set 2 cards to his back row and ended his turn.
Lundin drew Mystical Space Typhoon next turn. He activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Guler-Carrasquillo’s face-down Royal Decree, and Guler-Carrasquillo Chained Light-Imprisoning Mirror. Lundin used Dark Hole next to destroy Scrap Dragon, and Guler-Carrasquillo Special Summoned Scrap Goblin from his Graveyard in Defense Position thanks to Scrap Dragon’s effect. Lundin Summoned Worm Cartaros next, and attacked Scrap Goblin with his Cartaros. Goblin survived the battle, but destroyed itself at the end of the Battle Phase. Using Scrap Goblin’s effect, Guler-Carrasquillo returned Scrap Dragon from his Graveyard to his Extra Deck.

Lundin drew Effect Veiler next turn. He Tributed Cartaros to Summon Worm King and then attacked directly to drop Guler-Carrasquillo down to 5300 Life Points.
