Round 7 Feature Match: T.G. Collin Reilly vs. T.S. Henry Williams

June 18th, 2011

Both of these Duelists have 5-1 records headed into Round 7, and the winner of this Match would still be on-track to the Top 32 tomorrow. Henry Williams is playing Tengu Synchro, while Reilly is running a similar Deck packed with “T.G.” monsters. This one could be really interesting, and both Duelists were eager to start the Match!

Williams opened the Match by Setting a monster, then Set a Spell or Trap.

Reilly opened with a hand of Spore, Lonefire Blossom, Mind Control, Mirror Force, Dimensional Prison, and Smashing Ground. He activated Mind Control, taking and Flip Summoning Williams’ Ryko to destroy his Mystical Space Typhoon. Ryko’s effect sent T.G. Warwolf, T.G. Striker, and T.G. Rush Rhino to the Graveyard. Reilly Summoned Lonefire Blossom, and Tributed it to Special Summon another from his Deck. He Tributed that to Special Summon Dandylion, and attacked with Dandylion. He Set Dimensional Prison.

Williams Summoned Card Trooper, and activated its effect to send Solemn Warning, Mirror Force, and Book of Moon to the graveyard to boost Trooper’s ATK. It attacked into Dimensional Prison.

Reilly drew Solemn Warning. He Summoned Spore, and attacked Ryko with Dandylion. Spore made a direct attack for 400 Battle Damage, and Reilly Set his Mirror Force, Warning, and Smashing Ground.

Williams bounced away Reilly’s Set cards next turn with Giant Trunade, then activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon his opponent’s Lonefire Blossom. He Tributed it to Special Summon 1 of his own, then Tributed that for another. He Tributed that to Special Summon Dandylion, and Tributed it for Caius the Shadow Monarch! Its effect removed Reilly’s Dandylion from play, and Caius attacked over Spore. Williams ended, with Caius and 2 Fluff Tokens on the field.

Reilly drew Monster Reborn. He activated it to Special Summon T.G. Rush Rhino, and then banished Lonefire Blossom to Special Summon Spore. When it hit the field, Williams activated Effect Veiler’s ability to negate Spore’s effect, trying to reduce Spore’s Level to 1 again, but it didn’t work. Effect Veiler can’t reduce Spore’s Level, and the Veiler was wasted. Reilly sent Rush Rhino and Spore to destroy the 2 Fluff Tokens in battle, and in Main Phase 2 Reilly destroyed Caius with Smashing Ground. He Tuned Spore to Rush Rhino for Stardust Dragon, then Set Warning and Mirror Force.

Williams Set a monster.

Reilly drew Dimensional Prison, and attacked into Wiliams’ Set Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. Williams didn’t activate Ryko’s destruction effect, but he did send Reborn Tengu, Debris Dragon, and another Ryko from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Reilly Set Dimensional Prison.

Williams activated Foolish Burial, sending Spore to his Graveyard.

Reilly drew Solemn Judgment and attacked for 2500 Battle Damage with Stardust. He Set Judgment.

Williams drew and activated Pot of Avarice, returning Reborn Tengu, Debris Dragon, Caius the Shadow Monarch, Effect Veiler, and Lonefire Blossom from his Graveyard to his Deck. He drew 2 cards, drawing to 3 cards total in hand, and ended with a bare field.

Reilly drew another Dimensional Prison. Stardust Dragon attacked, and when Williams tried to Special Summon Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, Reilly countered with Solemn Warning. He Set Prison.

Williams Normal Summoned Lonefire Blossom, then banished his other Lonefire from his Graveyard to Special Summon Spore. He Tuned his monsters together to try and Synchro Sumon Black Rose Dragon, but he conceded when Reilly showed him Solemn Judgment.

Collin Reilly takes the first Duel with authority, as his T.G. strategy and his Synchro tricks come together for a slow, grinding win. One more like that, and Reilly would be on his way to a gauranteed seat in the Swiss Rounds tomorrow.

Williams Normal Summoned Reborn Tengu and Set a single Spell or Trap to open the second Duel.

Reilly had Book of Moon, Mirror Force, T.G. Striker, Dandylion, and 2 Lonefire Blossom. He Set Dandylion, Book, and Mirror Force.

Williams Summoned Banisher of the Radiance, but attacked into Mirror Force. His Banisher and his Tengu were destroyed, and he Special Summoned another Tengu from his Deck. That Tengu attacked Dandylion, and when Reilly tried to use its effect, Williams negated it with Solemn Warning! Williams Set another Spell or Trap.

Reilly drew Mystical Space Typhoon and Summoned his second Lonefire, Tributing it to Special Summon Glow-Up Bulb from his Deck. He Set Typhoon, and Williams destroyed it with Dust Tornado in the End Phase.

Williams Flip Summoned Ryko next turn, destroying Reilly’s Set Bottomless Trap Hole. Ryko attacked to destroy Glow-Up Bulb, and Tengu made a direct attack.

Williams activated Dust Tornado, destroying Reilly’s Book of Moon. he made another direct attack with Tengu.

Reilly drew Mind Control, and his only other remaining card was his T.G. Striker. He banished Lonefire Blossom from his Graveyard to Special Summon Spore, then took control of Reborn Tengu with Mind Control. He Tuned it to Spore to Synchro Summon Stardust Dragon, and Reilly Special Summoned another Tengu from his Deck. Stardust Dragon ran it over.

Williams activated Monster Reborn to bring back his Sangan. He Special Summoned Glow-Up Bulb by sending Debris Dragon off the top of his Deck to his Graveyard, then Tributed Ryko to Summon Cyber Dragon! He Tuned everything together for Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, banished Stardust Dragon, T.G. Striker, and Glow-Up Bulb, and got Debris Dragon from his Deck with Sangan. Trishula made a direct attack, and Reilly’s next topdeck – T.G. Warwolf – couldn’t help him.

Henry Williams grinds out the win in the second Duel, playing to a commanding pace that Reilly just couldn’t break free of! One more Duel would decide the winner of this Match. both competitors made extensive use of their Side Decks before getting started.

Reilly started the third Duel with a hand of 2 Chain Disappearance, Smashing Ground, Dark Hole, Pot of Avarice, and T.G. Rush Rhino. He Set both Disappearances and Rush Rhino.

Williams sent Dandylion to his Graveyard with Foolish Burial, and Special Summoned 2 Fluff Tokens. He Normal Summoned Debris Dragon, targeting Dandylion with its effect, but lost Debris Dragon to Chain Disappearance. another copy was banished from his Deck. Williams Special Summoned Dandylion, then Set a Spell or Trap.

Reilly drew T.G. Striker and Flip Summoned Glow-Up Bulb. Rush Rhino attacked Lonefire Blossom for 1500 Battle Damage, and the Bulb destroyed another Fluff Token. Williams had 2 Tokens left. In Main Phase 2, Reilly tried to Synchro Summon T.G. Wonder Magician, but Williams blated him with Solemn Warning. Reilly cleared the field with Dark Hole.

Williams Set a monster, then Set a Spell or Trap.

Reilly drew Monster Reborn. he Special Summoned T.G. Striker with Striker’s effect, then attacked Williams’ Set Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. It destroyed Striker, and in the End Phase Reilly used its effect to search T.G. Warwolf from his Deck.

Williams Set a third Spell or Trap Card.

Reilly drew his third Chain Disappearance! Williams had 2800 Life Points left, so Reilly Summoned Warwolf and attacked for 1200 Battle Damage. He Set Chain Disappearance, and Williams blasted it with Mystical Space Typhoon in the End Phase.

Williams Set a monster.

Reilly drew Dandylion. He Normal Summoned it, then sent Mirror Force off the top of his Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon Glow-Up Bulb. He Synchro Summoned Black Rose Dragon to destroy William’s 3 cards, and Monster Reborn on Black Rose ended the Match!
