Saturday Dragon Duel Feature Match: Hon. Jake Chammas vs. Hon. Benjamin Leverett

June 19th, 2011

12-year-old Jake Chammas from Farmingdale, New York is turning 13 on August 27th, so this weekend may be Chammas’s last opportunity to enter a Dragon Duel at a YCS. Benjamin Leverett is 10-years-old from Atlanta, Georgia and will be turning 11 on June 27th. Both of these Duelists are currently 4-0, but only one of them can win this Feature Match and finish the tournament with a perfect record.

Leverett started off the Match by activating Upstart Goblin to grant Chammas 1000 Life Points and draw a card from his Deck. He activated Reinforcement of the Army to search his Deck for Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan and add it to his hand. He Normal Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki from his hand and activated its effect to Special Summon Kagemusha of the Six Samurai from his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Kizan. He Tuned Kagemusha with Kageki next, in order to Synchro Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En. Leverett Set 3 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Chammas opened up with Hand of the Six Samurai, Asceticism of the Six Samurai, Shien’s Smoke Signal, Shien’s Dojo, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Shien’s Squire. He activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Leverett’s face-down Upstart Goblin and then activated Shien’s Dojo. Next, he activated Shien’s Smoke Signal, but Leverett negated it with the effect of his Shi En! Chammas Set Shien’s Squire before ending his turn.

Leverett flipped his face-down Shien’s Smoke Signal to search his Deck for a copy of Kagemusha to add to his hand. Then he flipped his other face-down card, another Shien’s Smoke Signal, to search his Deck for a copy of Kageki to add to his hand. He activated Six Samurai United and then Normal Summoned Kageki. He used Kageki’s effect to Special Summon Kagemusha from his hand. 2 Bushido Counters were added to Leverett’s Six Samurai United and Chammas’s Dojo. Next, Leverett sent Six Samurai United to the Graveyard to draw 2 cards. Then he activated his own Dojo and a copy of Gateway of the Six. Next, he Tuned Kagemusha with Kageki to Synchro Summon a second copy of Shi En. 1 Counter was added to Dojo, 2 Counters were added to Gateway, and Chammas’s Dojo gained a third Bushido Counter. Leverett sent his Dojo to the Graveyard to Special Summon Shien’s Squire from his Deck and then Tuned it with Kizan to Synchro Summon Ally of Justice Catastor. Catastor attacked and destroyed Chammas’s face-down Shien’s Squire and then both Shi Ens attacked directly, dropping Chammas down to 4000 Life Points.

Chammas drew Kizan next turn and Summoned it to the field. Leverett added 2 Bushido Counters to his Gateway and Chammas put a 4th Bushido Counter on his Dojo. Chammas sent his Dojo to the Graveyard to Special Summon Kagemusha of the Six Samurai from his Deck, and Leverett added 2 more Bushido Counters to his Gateway. Next, Chammas Tuned his Kizan with Kagemusha to Synchro Summon Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. He discarded his in-hand Asceticism and Hand of the Six Samurai to return Leverett’s 2 copies of Shi En to his Extra Deck. Chammas ended his turn with a Brionac on the field.

Leverett removed 4 Bushido Counters from his Gateway to search his Deck for a copy of Kagemusha to add to his hand. Then he Normal Summoned it and added 2 more Counters to his Gateway. Next, he removed all 4 Counters from Gateway to search his Deck for Kizan and add it to his hand. He Special Summoned it, adding 2 more Counters to Gateway, and then Tuned Kagemusha with Kizan to Synchro Summon Naturia Barkion! Barkion attacked and destroyed Brionac, and then Catastor attacked directly, dropping Chammas down to 1600 Life Points. Leverett Set a card in Main Phase 2 before ending his turn.

Chammas drew Monster Reborn next turn, but had no other cards in his hand or on his field. He activated it to Special Summon Kagemusha in Defense Position and Leverett added 2 more Bushido Counters to his Gateway.

On his next turn, Leverett removed 4 Bushido Counters from his Gateway to search his Deck for Kizan, and Chammas immediately conceded.

An early Summon of 2 Shi Ens allows Benjamin Leverett to dominate the first Duel of the Six Samurai mirror-Match! Jake Chammas will be going first in Duel 2!

Chammas opened up Duel 2 with Elder of the Six Samurai, Solemn Warning, Mystical Space Typhoon, Reinforcement of the Army, and 2 copies of Six Samurai United. He activated both copies of Six Samurai United and then activated Reinforcement of the Army to search his Deck for a copy of Kizan to add to his hand. He Normal Summoned Elder and then Special Summoned Kizan, adding 2 Bushido Counters to each copy of Six Samurai United. Then he sent them both to the Graveyard to draw Shien’s Smoke Signal, Asceticism of the Six Samurai, Double-Edged Sword Technique, and Shien’s Dojo. He activated Shien’s Dojo and then used Asceticism of the Six Samurai to Special Summon Kagemusha of the Six Samurai from his Deck. When it hit the field, he added a Bushido Counter to his Dojo. Next, Chammas Tuned his Elder of the Six Samurai with Kagemusha to Synchro Summon Naturia Beast. Then he sent his Dojo to the Graveyard to Special Summon Shien’s Squire from his Deck. He tuned his Squire with Kizan to Synchro Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En next. Chammas Set Mystical Space Typhoon, Solemn Warning, Shien’s Smoke Signal, and Double-Edged Sword Technique to his back row before ending his turn.

Leverett activated Reinforcement of the Army and Chammas negated it with Naturia Beast by sending Shien’s Dojo and Kizan from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, Leverett activated Dark Hole, and Chammas negated it by sending Kinetic Soldier and Kagemusha from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, Leverett activated Giant Trunade, and Chammas negated it with Naturia Beast by sending Asceticism of the Six Samurai and Mystical Space Typhoon from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Leverett tried to Normal Summon Kinetic Soldier next, but Chammas flipped Solemn Warning and gave up 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon.

Chammas drew Monster Reborn next turn. He flipped Double-Edged Sword Technique to Special Summon Kagemusha and Kizan from his Graveyard, and then activated Shien’s Smoke Signal to search his Deck for a copy of Elder of the Six Samurai to add to his hand. Chammas Normal Summoned the Elder and then Tuned it with Kagemusha and Kizan to Synchro Summon Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! Trishula removed Dark Hole from Leverett’s Graveyard and Kagemusha from Leverett’s hand. Next, Chammas activated Monster Reborn to revive Kinetic Soldier from Leverett’s Graveyard. Kinetic Soldier, Naturia Beast, Shi En, and Trishula attacked Leverett directly, eliminating all 8000 of his Life Points!

Jake Chammas wins Duel 2 on his second turn after opening with Naturia Beast and Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En! Benjamin Leverett will be going first in the final Duel of the Match!

Leverett started off Duel 3 by Summoning Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki and activating its effect to Special Summon Kagemusha from his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Grandmaster of the Six Samurai. He Tuned Kagemusha with Kageki to Synchro Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En and then Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Chammas opened up with Solemn Warning, Mirror Force, Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, Kizan, Double-Edged Sword Technique, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He activated Mystical Space Typhoon to target Leverett’s face-down Solemn Judgment, and Leverett allowed it to be destroyed. Next, Chammas activated Gateway of the Six. Once again, Leverett chose not to negate the card with Shi En. Chammas Summoned Kizan from his hand next, adding 2 Bushido Counters to his Gateway. He Set Mirror Force, Solemn Warning, and Double-Edged Sword Technique to his back row before ending his turn.

Leverett tried to Normal Summon Thunder King Rai-Oh next turn, but Chammas negated its Summon with Solemn Warning by giving up 2000 Life Points. Then Shi En attacked Kizan, and when Chammas tried to reflect the attack with Mirror Force, Leverett used the effect of his Shi En to negate it! Shi En destroyed Kizan and then Grandmaster attacked Chammas directly, dropping him down to 3200 Life Points. Leverett activated his own Gateway of the Six before ending his turn.

Chammas drew Six Samurai United next turn and Set it.

Leverett activated Shien’s Smoke Signal. He searched his Deck for Kageki and Summoned it to the field, then activated its effect to recruit Hand of the Six Samurai to the field too. Both Duelists added 4 Bushido Counters to their Gateways. Leverett removed his 4 Counters to grab a Kizan from his Deck, and then Special Summoned it to the field. Both Duelists added 2 more Bushido Counters to their Gateways. Finally, Leverett attacked directly with his swarm of Samurais to wipe out the last 3200 of Chammas’s Life Points!
