Quartefinal: Jeff Walker VS Joseph Bogli – More Tengu Madness
The winner of this Match would score a trip to the World Championship in Amsterdam next month, where they’ll compete to represent the United States in the year’s most honored Dueling competition. The defeated Duelist in this Match would instead proceed to a playoff round, and would have a second chance to earn the same opportunity. Both of these Duelists are playing Tengu Synchro variants.
Walker opened the Match with a Set monster, and Set 2 cards to his Spell and Trap Card Zone/
Bogli had a hand of Dandylion; Call of the Haunted; Caius the Shadow Monarch; D.D. Crow; Spore; and Glow-Up Bulb. He Set a monster, then Set Call.
Walker Flip Summoned Dandylion, and Normal Summoned Lonefire Blossom to Tribute Dandylion and Special Summon Spore from his Deck! He Special Summoned 2 Fluff Tokens in Defense Position, then Tuned one of them to Spore to Synchro Summon Formula Synchron. Walker drew a card with the Synchron’s ability, then Set a third Spell or Trap.
Bogli drew Solemn Warning. He shook his head a moment, then Tributed Dandylion for Caius, trying to banish Formula Synchron. Walker Chained Synchron’s effect, Tuning it to Lonefire Blossom for T.G. Hyper Librarian. Bogli Special Summoned his Fluff Tokens, and when he tried to attack Librarian with Caius, he was blocked with Enemy Controller. He Set Warning and lost it to Dust Tornado in the End Phase.
Walker Summoned Debris Dragon, but when he targeted Dandylion with the Dragon’s revival effect Bogli banished it from the Graveyard with D.D. Crow! He pressed on, attacking a Fluff Token with Debris Dragon, and attacking Caius with Librarian to destroy it.
Bogli drew Monster Reborn, holding Spore and Glow-Up Bulb with Call of the Haunted Set and a Fluff Token on the field. He activated Monster Reborn to target his Caius, but Walker Chained Royal Oppression to try and negate the Summon! Boglin Chained Call of the Haunted in response, targeting the Caius and bringing it to the field! Bogli Summoned Spore, and Caius attacked to destroy Hyper Librarian. The Spore attacked Walker’s last Fluff Token.
Walker activated Gold Sarcophagus, banishing Pot of Avarice from his Deck to claim it 2 turns later. He Summoned Glow-Up Bulb to attack Bogli’s Fluff Token, and Debris Dragon ran over Spore.
Bogli drew Limit Reverse, and Summoned his Bulb to crash it into Walker’s. Both Bulbs were destroyed. He Set Limit Reverse.
Walker attacked with Debris Dragon and Set a back row card.
Bogli drew Reborn Tengu! He Summoned it to attack and destroy Debris Dragon!
Walker got his Pot of Avarice with Gold Sarcophagus‘ effect, and activated it to return his Debris Dragon; Hyper Librarian; Spore; Lonefire Blossom; and Formula Synchron back to his Deck, drawing 2 cards. He activated Giant Trunade to clear the field – including his own Royal Oppression – and activated Foolish Burial to send Reborn Tengu from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Set 4 cards to his back row and ended, with 1 card left in hand.
Bogli drew Pot of Avarice, and activated it to send Caius; D.D. Crow; Dandylion; Spore; and Glow-Up Bulb back to his Deck: Walker Chained Call of the Haunted to Special Summon Reborn Tengu, and Bogli shuffled back his monsters to draw Enemy Controller and Mystical Space Typhoon. Bogli sent his Tengu at Walker’s, and both Duelists Special Summoned another copy. Those 2 Tengus battled as well, and 2 more were Special Summoned. Boglin sent his third Tengu at Walker’s third to destroy both and clear the field of monsters. He Set all 3 of his remaining cards to his back row. Walker flipped Mystical Space Typhoon and Dust Tornado in the End Phase, destroying Bogli’s Limit Reverse and Typhoon!

Bogli drew Lonefire Blossom and passed.
Walker Summoned Tour Guide from the Underworld and used her effect, Special Summoning Sangan from his Deck! Tour Guide attacked to destroy Glow-Up Bulb, and Sangan made a direct attack.
Bogli drew Chaos Sorcerer, and Set Lonefire Blossom.
Walker Summoned Lonefire and Tributed it for its effect, Special Summoning another. He Tributed that to Special Summon Spore, then Tuned it to Tour Guide to Synchro Summon Armory Arm. He banished Lonefire Blossom to Special Summon Spore, and Tuned it to Armory Arm to make Scrap Dragon! He destroyed his Sangan and Bogli’s Lonefire Blossom with Scrap Dragon’s ability, getting Debris Dragon with Sangan’s ability. Scrap Dragon attacked to drop Bogli to 2600 Life Points!
Bogli drew Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, and cleared the field with Dark Hole.
Walker revived Scrap Dragon with Monster Reborn, and when it attacked, Bogli blocked with Enemy Controller. Walker Set a Spell or Trap.
Bogli drew Solemn Warning and Special Summoned Bulb in Defense Position. It was all over a turn later, as Walker cleared Bobli’s Solemn Warning with Scrap Dragon’s effect, and Normal Summoned Debris Dragon to clinch the Duel!

Bogli opened the second Duel with a hand of D.D. Crow; Lonefire Blossom; Dark Hole; Reborn Tengu; Dust Tornado; and Mystical Space Typhoon. He Summoned Tengu, then Set Typhoon and Tornado.
Walker Set a monster, then Set Royal Oppression. Bogli destroyed it in the End Phase with Dust Tornado.
Bogli drew Mirror Force and Summoned Lonefire Blossom, Tributing it for its effect: Walker Chained the effect of Maxx “C”, drawing a card when Bogli Special Summoned Spore from his Deck. Stymied, Walker moved to the Battle Phase, attacking Walker’s Spore with Tengu to destroy it. He Set Mirror Force.
Walker Summoned Lonefire Blossom himself, Tributing it for another, and Tributing that to Special Summon Dandylion in Defense Position. He tried to Special Summon Spore from the Graveyard by banishing a Lonefire, but when he activated Spore’s effect, Bogli Chained D.D. Crow’s ability to banish Spore on the Chain!
Bogli drew Foolish Burial, and Tuned Spore to Reborn Tengu to Synchro Summon T.G. Hyper Librarian. Bogli activated Tengu’s effect, but Walker had another Maxx “C”! Bogli got another Tengu, while Walker drew another card. Bogli attacked Dandylion with Tengu, then attacked 1 of the resulting Fluff Tokens with Librarian.
Walker Tributed his second Fluff Token for Caius the Shadow Monarch, and banished T.G. Hyper Librarian for 1000 effect damage. Caius attacked into Mirror Force, and Bogli ended with a blank field.
Bogli drew Card Trooper, and he banished Lonefire from his Graveyard, trying to Special Summon Spore: Walker had D.D. Crow. Bogli Summoned Card Trooper, sending Debris Dragon; Dimensional Prison; and Torrential Tribute to the Graveyard to boost its ATK. Tengu and Trooper attacked directly, knocking Walker down to 4400 Life Points.
Walker drew to 4 cards in hand, and Normal Summoned Debris Dragon to Special Summon Dandylion. He Tuned them together to Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon, and Special Summoned 2 Fluff Tokens. He activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Bogli’s Typhoon, then sent Glow-Up Bulb to the Graveyard with Foolish Burial. He sent Reborn Tengu from his Deck to his Graveyard to Summon back the Bulb, then Tuned it to Black Rose Dragon and a Fluff Token for Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Its effect banished Bogli’s Foolish Burial from his hand; his Tengu from his Graveyard; and his Card Trooper from the field. Trishula attacked to destroy Reborn Tengu, and Bogli Summoned another from his Deck.
Bogli drew Dust Tornado and activated Dark Hole! He Set the Tornado.
Walker passed.
Bogli drew Enemy Controller and passed.
Walker Set Book of Moon, but lost it to Dust Tornado.
Bogli Set 2 cards to his back row: Solemn Warning and Enemy Controller.
Walker drew Pot of Avarice, returning Trishula; Black Rose; Debris Dragon; Tengu; and Caius to his Deck to draw 2 cards. Walker now had 4 cards to Bogli’s 2. He tried to Summon Debris Dragon, but Bogli hit him with Solemn Warning.
Bogli drew Chaos Sorcerer and passed.
Walker Summoned Reborn Tengu and attacked for 1700 Battle Damage.
Bogli drew and Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh, attacking over Tengu. Walker Summoned another.
Walker Tributed Tengu for Caius the Shadow Monarch, but Bogli Chained Enemy Controller, Tributing his Thunder King to take control of CAius. Walker Special Summoned another Tengu, then took back his Caius in the End Phase.
Bogli Special Summoned Chaos Sorcerer next turn, but Walker negated its banishing ability with Effect Veiler! Bogli Set his last card to his back row.
Walker Summoned Tour Guide from the Underworld, Special Summoning Sangan. He attacked with Caius, and Bogli removed it with Dimensional Prison! Without Caius to get through Chaos Sorcerer, Walker couldn’t make any more attacks.
Bogli drew Effect Veiler, and removed Sangan from the Duel with Chaos Sorcerer! He Summoned Veiler; Tuned it to Sorcerer; and brought out Arcanite Magician! Walker had another Veiler to keep Arcanite from getting any Counters!
Walker Set a Spell or Trap.
Bogli drew Pot of Avarice! He activated it, targeting Veiler; Sorcerer; and 3 Tengus in his Graveyard, but Walker had D.D. Crow! He removed a Tengu from Bogli’s Graveyard to stop Avarice’s effect, and Bogli had to end. Walker Summoned Debris Dragon next turn and Bogli gave the handshake!
Joseph Bogli will compete in one more playoff round today, but Jeff Walker is headed to the Top 4, and to the World Championship!
