Quarterfinal: Alexander St-Louis vs. Louis Hong
Quebec’s Alexander St-Louis is facing off against Waterloo’s Louis Hong in this Top 8 Feature Match. Both of these Duelists made it here with their Agent Decks, but only one of them will advance to the Semifinals!
Louis Hong started off Duel 1 by Normal Summoning The Agent of Mystery – Earth and using its effect to add The Agent of Creation – Venus from his Deck to his hand. He Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.
St-Louis opened up with Effect Veiler, The Agent of Mystery – Earth, 2 copies of Archlord Kristya, Dark Hole, and Honest. He Normal Summoned his own copy of Earth, and used its effect to search for his own Venus. Next, he attacked Hong’s Earth with his own, and both monsters were destroyed in battle.
Hong Normal Summoned Venus next turn and activated its effect by paying 500 Life Points; but St-Louis negated it by discarding Effect Veiler. Hong attacked directly with Venus to drop St-Louis down to 6400 Life Points.
St-Louis drew Mind Control next turn. He Normal Summoned Venus and paid 500 Life Points to Special Summon Mystical Shine Ball from his Deck. Then he paid another 500 Life Points to Special Summon another Shine Ball. He chose not to to activate Venus’s effect a third time after the Summon, so Hong flipped Torrential Tribute to clear the field! That put exactly 4 Fairies in St-Louis’s Graveyard! He Special Summoned Archlord Kristya and used its effect to add Venus from his Graveyard to his hand. Then he attacked directly with Archlord Kristya to drop Hong down to 4700 Life Points.
Hong activated Dark Hole to destroy Archlord Kristya, sending it to the top of St-Louis’s Deck.
St-Louis drew Archlord Kristya next turn and then Normal Summoned Venus. He attacked with Venus to drop Hong down to 3100 Life Points and Hong Special Summoned Gorz the Emissary of Darkness in Defense Position, along with an Emissary of Darkness Token! St-Louis activated Dark Hole in Main Phase 2 to clear the field, and then Special Summoned Archlord Kristya once again. He used Kristya’s effect to return Venus from his Graveyard to his hand and then ended his turn.
Hong conceded on his next turn, unable to defeat Archlord Kristya.

St-Louis opened up with Bottomless Trap Hole, Archlord Kristya, Thunder King Rai-Oh, Mystical Shine Ball, The Agent of Mystery – Earth, and The Agent of Creation – Venus. In his Standby Phase, Hong flipped Trap Dustshoot to send Venus back to St-Louis’s Deck. Then he flipped Mind Crush, forcing St-Louis to discard Earth. St-Louis Normal Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh next, but lost it to Bottomless Trap Hole. St-Louis Set Bottomless Trap Hole before ending his turn.
Hong Normal Summoned Venus and then paid 1500 Life Points to activate its effect 3 times and Special Summon 3 copies of Mystical Shine Ball from his Deck in Attack Position. He attacked with all 3 Shine Balls and Venus, dropping St-Louis down to 4900 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Hong stacked 2 Shine Balls to Xyz Summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu in Defense Position. Hong Set a card to his back row before ending.
St-Louis drew another Mystical Shine Ball next turn! He Set a Shine Ball and passed.
Hong attacked St-Louis’s Shine Ball with his own to destroy it, and then attacked directly with Venus to deal 2000 points of damage to St-Louis.
St-Louis drew Venus next turn and Normal Summoned it. He paid 500 Life Points to activate its effect, but when Hong flipped Solemn Warning to negate its effect and destroy Venus, St-Louis instantly conceded.

St-Louis opened up Duel 3 with Forbidden Lance, Tour Guide From the Underworld, Smashing Ground, Honest, and 2 Master Hyperions. He Normal Summoned Tour Guide and activated its effect to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck in Attack Position. St-Louis Set Forbidden Lance before ending his turn.
Hong activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the Forbidden Lance and then Normal Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh! Rai-Oh attacked and destroyed Sangan, and Rai-Oh’s effect deprived St-Louis of his search. Hong Set a card to his back row before ending.
St-Louis drew Venus next turn and Normal Summoned it. He activated its effect by paying 500 Life Points and Hong Chained Bottomless Trap Hole to banish Venus from the Duel. After it left the field, St-Louis Special Summoned Mystical Shine Ball in Defense Position. St-Louis activated Smashing Ground to destroy Thunder King Rai-Oh and then attacked directly with Tour Guide, dropping Hong down to 7000 Life Points.
Hong activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Thunder King Rai-Oh from his Graveyard and then used his Rai-Oh to attack and destroy Tour Guide. He Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.
St-Louis drew Archlord Kristya next turn! He switched his Shine Ball into Attack Position and then ended his turn.
Hong passed without making a play.
St-Louis drew The Agent of Mystery – Earth next turn, but he couldn’t use its effect while Rai-Oh was on the field. He attacked Rai-Oh with his Mystical Shine Ball, intending to use Honest to boost his monster’s attack, but Hong flipped Mirror Force to destroy the Shine Ball! St-Louis Normal Summoned Earth next turn, even though he couldn’t use its effect.
Hong activated Smashing Ground to destroy Earth and then attacked directly for 1900 points of damage. He Set a card to his back row and then passed his turn.
St-Louis drew Tour Guide From the Underworld next turn. He banished Earth from his Graveyard to try to Special Summon Master Hyperion; but Hong sent his Rai-Oh to the Graveyard to negate its Summon. Next, St-Louis Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated its effect to Special Summon another Tour Guide from his Deck. He combined his 2 Tour Guides to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon and then detached a Tour Guide from his Leviair to Special Summon Venus from his banished zone. St-Louis paid 500 Life Points to Special Summon Mystical Shine Ball from his Deck in Attack Position, and then attacked directly with Mystical Shine Ball, Venus, and Leviair. Hong dropped down to 3100 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, St-Louis paid 500 Life Points to Special Summon another Shine Ball from his Deck, and stacked his 2 Shine Balls to Summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu in Defense Position.
