This is Billy Brake’s 4th Top 4 of the year, but so far he has only won 1 YCS in his life. Now, he’s Dueling against Thomas Vo in a Tengu Synchro mirror-Match that will determine who advances to the final round!

Brake opened up with Thunder King Rai-Oh, Lonefire Blossom, Reborn Tengu, Spore, Tour Guide From the Underworld, and Dandylion. He Summoned Rai-Oh and ended his turn.

Vo Set a card to each zone and passed.

Brake drew Mind Control next turn! He activated it to take control of Vo’s face-down Glow-Up Bulb and then Normal Summoned Reborn Tengu. Brake Flip Summoned Glow-Up Bulb and Tuned it with Reborn Tengu to Synchro Summon T.G. Hyper Librarian. He Special Summoned another Tengu from his Deck with his first Tengu’s effect. Brake attacked directly with Tengu, Rai-Oh, and Librarian, dropping Vo down to 2000 Life Points.

Vo activated Dark Hole to clear the field, and Brake Special Summoned another Tengu from his Deck. Next, Vo Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated her effect to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck. He activated the effect of Glow-Up Bulb next, sending Mind Control from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon it. Then he Tuned Glow-Up Bulb with Tour Guide to Synchro Summon Armory Arm. Vo activated Armory Arm’s effect to equip it to Sangan, and then attacked Tengu with Sangan, dropping Brake down to 6000 Life Points.

Brake drew Mystical Space Typhoon next turn. He activated it to destroy Vo’s face-down Solemn Judgment. Next, he Normal Summoned Tour Guide and activated her effect. Brake Special Summoned Sangan from his Deck. Next, Brake combined his 2 monsters to make Number 17: Leviathan Dragon and detached an Xyz Material. Vo tossed an Effect Veiler to keep Leviathan Dragon at 2000 ATK.

Vo attacked Leviathan Dragon with Sangan and then activated Enemy Controller to put Leviathan Dragon in Defense Position. Brake lost 2000 Life Points. Vo Set a back row before ending.

Brake drew Book of Moon next turn. He Set it along with Dandylion and passed.

Vo attacked Dandylion with Sangan, allowing Brake to Special Summon 2 Fluff Tokens. Brake lost 300 Life Points due to the effect of Armory Arm. Vo Set a monster before ending his turn.

Brake drew Maxx “C” next turn. He Normal Summoned Spore and Tuned it with a Fluff Token to Synchro Summon Formula Synchron and draw Heavy Storm. He activated it to destroy Vo’s face-down Heavy Storm and his Armory Arm. Brake Chained Book of Moon to his own Heavy Storm to put Sangan face-down.

Next, Brake banished Dandylion from his Graveyard to Special Summon Spore as a Level 4 Tuner. He Tuned Spore with a Fluff Token to Synchro Summon Ally of Justice Catastor, and then Tuned Catastor with Formula Synchron to Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon. Brake banished Spore from his Graveyard to activate Black Rose Dragon’s effect and switch Sangan into Attack Position while reducing it’s ATK to 0. Brake attacked over the 0 ATK Sangan with his Black Rose Dragon, wiping out Vo’s last 2000 Life Points!

Vo Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh and passed.

Brake opened up with Dandylion, Monster Reborn, Solemn Judgment, Doomcaliber Knight, Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning, and Tour Guide From the Underworld. He Normal Summoned Doomcaliber Knight and Vo pitched Effect Veiler to force Doomcaliber Knight to Tribute itself. Brake Set Solemn Judgment before ending his turn.

Vo Normal Summoned Reborn Tengu and then attacked directly with Tengu and Thunder King Rai-Oh. Brake dropped down to 4400 Life Points.

Brake drew Mind Control next turn. He Normal Summoned Tour Guide and activated her effect to Special Summon Sangan. Next, he used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Effect Veiler from Vo’s Graveyard. He Tuned Effect Veiler with Tour Guide to try to Synchro Summon Armory Arm, but Vo sent Thunder King Rai-Oh to the Graveyard to negate its Summon. Next, Brake banished Doomcaliber Knight and Armory Arm from his Graveyard to Special Summon Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning. Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning attacked and destroyed 1 Tengu, and then Vo Special Summoned another one in Attack Position. Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning attacked again to destroy it, and Vo Special Summoned his third Tengu in Attack Position. Brake attacked into Tengu with his Sangan, allowing Sangan to be destroyed. Brake added Maxx “C” from his Deck to his hand with Sangan’s effect. Brake Set Mind Control before ending his turn.

Vo activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Effect Veiler from his Graveyard, and Brake Chained Maxx “C” to draw Torrential Tribute from his Deck. Next, Vo Tuned Tengu with Effect Veiler to try to Synchro Summon Ally of Justice Catastor, and Brake activated Solemn Judgment to negate its Summon. Vo activated Pot of Avarice next, sending 3 Tengus, a Veiler, and a Catastor back to his Deck to draw 2 cards. Next, Vo Normal Summoned Reborn Tengu. He Set 3 cards to his back row and passed.

Brake drew Book of Moon next turn. He attacked Reborn Tengu with Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning, destroying it in battle and dropping Vo down to 4100 Life Points. Vo Special Summoned another Tengu from his Deck in Defense Position, and Brake destroyed it in battle once again. Brake Set Book of Moon, Torrential Tribute, and Dandylion before ending his turn.

Vo activated One for One by discarding Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer and Special Summoned Glow-Up Bulb from his Deck. He Tuned Glow-Up Bulb with Tengu to Synchro Summonm Ally of Justice Catastor. Brake used Book of Moon to put Catastor face-down in the Battle Phase.

Brake drew Maxx “C” next turn. He attacked the face-down Catastor with Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning to destroy it, and then attempted to attack directly; but Vo flipped Scapegoat to Special Summon 4 Sheep Tokens. Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning destroyed 1 Sheep Token in battle.

Vo Normal Summoned Debris Dragon next turn and activated its effect to Special Summon Glow-Up Bulb. Brake Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card. Next, Vo Tuned a Fluff Token with Glow-Up Bulb to Synchro Summon Formula Synchron, and each Duelist drew a card. Next, Vo Tuned Debris Dragon with 2 Fluff Tokens to Synchro Summon Orient Dragon, and Brake drew another card. Vo sent Solemn Warning from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon Glow-Up Bulb from his Graveyard, and Brake drew another card with Maxx “C”. Vo Tuned Orient Dragon with Glow-Up Bulb to Synchro Summon Black Rose Dragon, and chose not to activate its effect. Brake drew a card thanks to Maxx “C” and then activated Torrential Tribute to clear the field.

Brake drew Enemy Controller next turn and Vo flipped Trap Dustshoot, forcing Brake to reveal his hand of Tour Guide, Tengu, Mystical Space Typhoon, Scapegoat, and 2 Enemy Controllers. Vo sent Tour Guide back to Brake’s Deck, and then Brake Normal Summoned Tengu. Tengu attacked directly, dropping Vo down to 2400 Life Points. Brake Set all 4 of his remaining in-hand Spells to his back row.

Vo Normal Summoned Tour Guide next turn and activated her effect to Special Summon another Tour Guide. He attacked with both Tour Guides to destroy both of Brake’s Fluff Tokens. Next, he combined his Tour Guides to make Leviair the Sea Dragon, and activated its ability to Special Summon Armory Arm. In the End Phase, Brake activated Scapegoat to Special Summon 4 Sheep Tokens.

On his next turn, Brake activated both copies of Enemy Controller to Tribute 2 Sheep Tokens and gain control of Leviair and Armory Arm. He equipped Armory Arm to Leviair and then attacked directly with Tengu. A direct attack from Leviair wiped out Vo’s last 700 Life Points!
