Quarterfinals: Tyree Tinsley vs. Ankit Shah

Dino Rabbit and Wind-Up Decks were popular this weekend, and now they’re facing off against one another in this Quarterfinal Match. Ankit Shah is using Dino Rabbit against Tyree Tinsley’s Wind-Up Deck, but only one of these Duelists will advance to the Top 4!

Tinsley started off Duel 1 by Seting 2 cards to his back row.

Shah Summoned Sabersaurus and attacked with it, dropping Tinsley down to 6100 Life Points. Shah Set Trap Dustshoot and Fiendish Chain before ending his turn.

Tinsley drew a card and Shah flipped Trap Dustshoot, revealing Solemn Judgment, Mystical Space Typhoon, Monster Reborn, Fiendish Chain, and Wind-Up Rat. Shah returned the Wind-Up Rat to the Deck. Tinsley Set 2 cards to his back row and passed.

Shah drew Mirror Force next turn. He attacked directly with Sabersaurus and then Set Mirror Force.

Tinsley passed without making a play.

Shah drew another Maxx “C” and then attacked against with Sabersaurus, dropping Tinsley down to 2300 Life Points. Shah Set a monster before passing.

Tinsley Set a back row and passed.

Shah drew Mind Control and then attacked with Sabersaurus. Shah flipped Mirror Force to destroy the Sabersaurus.

Tinsley drew a card and passed.

Shah Flip Summoned Kabazauls and Tinsley negated the Summon with Solemn Warning, dropping down to 300 Life Points. Shah Summoned Maxx “C” next, and tried attacking for the win with it, but Tinsley flipped Fiendish Chain to stop its attack.

Tinsley used 2 copies of Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Shah’s face-down Fiendish Chain and Mirror Force, and then activated Monster Reborn to target Sabersaurus. Shah Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card. Sabersaurus attacked and destroyed Maxx “C” after it was revived.

Shah tried to Summon Rescue Rabbit next turn. Tinsley flipped Solemn Judgment to try to negate the Summon, but Shah used his own Solemn Judgment to negate it. He banished the Rabbit to Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus, and Tinsley used Torrential Tribute to clear the field.

Tinsley Set a monster and passed.

Shah Summoned Tour Guide and tried to activate its effect, but Tinsley negated the effect with Fiendish Chain. Next, Shah activated Mind Control targeting Tinsley’s face-down Level 3 monster. With only 150 Life Points left, Tinsley conceded, knowing a Rank 3 monster would finish him off.T8-1Shah dominates in the first Duel by beating Tinsely down with a bunch of Normal Monsters! Tyree Tinsley will be going first in Duel 2!

Tinsley started off Duel 2 by Setting 2 cards to his back row.

Shah Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated its effect to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck in Defense Position. Then he attacked directly with Tour Guide to drop Tinsley down to 7000 Life Points.

[After the Match, Shah explained that he Summoned the Sangan in Defense Position because he didn’t want to risk losing it to Dimensional Prison by attacking with it.]

Tinsley Special Summoned Cyber Dragon and then attacked Tour Guide to destroy it in battle and drop Shah down to 6900 Life Points.

Shah drew his own Cyber Dragon next turn! He passed his turn without making a play.

Tinsley attacked Sangan with Cyber Dragon, allowing Shah to add a Maxx “C” from his Deck to his hand with Sangan’s effect.

Shah drew Rescue Rabbit next turn. He tried to Special Summon Cyber Dragon, but lost out to Black Horn of Heaven. Next, he Normal Summoned Rescue Rabbit and banished it to activate its effect. He Chained his own Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Tinsley’s Book of Moon. Shah Special Summoned 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Deck with the effect of Rabbit, and combined them to Summon Evolzar Laggia. Then he attacked Cyber Dragon! When Tinsley tried to destroy Laggia with Mirror Force, Shah detached his 2 materials to negate the Mirror Force with Laggia. Cyber Dragon went down in battle.

Tinsley tried to Normal Summon Wind-Up Rabbit next turn, but lost out to Shah’s Solemn Warning. Then he activated Monster Reborn to revive it, and Shah Chained Maxx “C” to draw a card. Tinsley Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Shah drew Solemn Judgment next turn. He activated Pot of Avarice to send Tour Guide, Sangan, Cyber Dragon, and 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw Torrential Tribute and Maxx “C”. Shah entered his Battle Phase and attacked Rabbit with Laggia; Rabbit dodged the attack, and Laggia struck directly instead. Shah Set 3 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Tinsley Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated its effect. Shah Chained Maxx “C” and drew a Sabersaurus when Tinsley Special Summoned a Sangan from his Deck in Defense Position with Tour Guide’s effect. In Tinsley’s End Phase, Shah destroyed Tinsley’s face-down Torrential Tribute with Mystical Space Typhoon.

Shah tried to Normal Summon Rescue Rabbit next turn, and when Tinsley tried to negate the Summon with Solemn Warning, Shah negated the Solemn Warning by flipping Solemn Judgment! Shah Special Summoned 2 copies of Sabersaurus from his Deck and then combined them to make Evolzar Dolkka. He attacked and destroyed Tour Guide with Laggia, then attacked Rabbit with Dolkka. Tinsley tried to use Rabbit’s effect to dodge the attack, but its effect was negated by Dolkka and Rabbit was destroyed. Next, Dolkka attacked and destroyed Sangan, and Shah removed Dolkka’s last Xyz Material to negate Sangan’s effect.

Tinsley Normal Summoned Wind-Up Magician next turn and revealed Wind-Up Shark from his hand to Special Summon it. But when the Magician’s effect activated, Shah negated its effect with Fiendish Chain. Next, Tinsley combined Wind-Up Shark with Wind-Up Magician to make Number 39: Utopia, and Shah activated Torrential Tribute to clear the field. Tinsley had no cards left in his hand or on his field, and Shah revealed the Sabersaurus in his hand that would wipe out Tinsley’s last 900 Life Points on the next turn. Tinsley instantly conceded.
