Both Duelists are 8-1 in the tournament – Newberry made it this far with Inzektors and Colin got here with his Dino Rabbit Deck. Colin attacked with Kabazauls and ended his turn.

Newberry drew Trap Dustshoot and Set it.

Colin drew a card and then Newberry activated Trap Dustshoot, revealing Book of Moon, Pot of Avarice, Tour Guide From the Underworld, Maxx “C”, and Kabazauls in Colin’s hand. He sent Tour Guide back to Colin’s Deck and then Colin attacked with Kabazauls to drop Newberry down to 4600 Life Points.

Newberry drew Inzektor Centipede next turn. He Normal Summoned Centipede and attacked Kabazauls. He activated Book of Moon to put Kabazauls face-down and then Colin flipped Fiendish Chain to stop Centipede’s attack and protect Kabazauls!

Colin tried to Flip Summon Kabazauls next turn, but Newberry activated Solemn Warning and gave up 2000 Life Points to negate its Summon. Next, Colin activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Newberry’s other face-down Warning. He Normal Summoned Rescue Rabbit and activated its effect. Newberry Chained Maxx “C”, Colin Special Summoned 2 Sabersaurus from his Deck, and Newberry drew a card thanks to the effect of Maxx “C”. Sabersaurus attacked over Centipede and then the other copy of Sabersaurus attacked directly, dropping Newberry down to 400 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Colin combined his 2 copies of Sabersaurus to Summon Evolzar Laggia, and Newberry drew another card.

Newberry drew Inzektor Giga-Mantis next turn, but had picked up an Inzektor Hornet earlier from the effect of Maxx “C”. He activated Dark Hole and Colin negated it with Evolzar Laggia. Next, he Normal Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly, and Colin used Book of Moon to put it face-down when it used its effect. He Set a Fiendish Chain that he picked up from Maxx “C” on the previous turn, and then passed to Colin.

Colin Summoned Kabazauls and tried attacking the face-down Dragonfly with Laggia; but Newberry flipped Fiendish Chain to block the attack.

Newberry flipped his Dragonfly next turn and activated its effect to equip it with a Hornet in his hand. Then he sent Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Colin’s face-down Starlight Road and Special Summon a Centipede with the effect of his Hornet. Next, he activated Centipede’s effect to equip it with the Hornet in his Graveyard. He followed up by equipping his Dragonfly with the Inzektor Giga-Mantis in his hand. Next, he sent the Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Giga-Mantis, and Colin Chained Maxx “C” from his hand. Giga-Mantis Special Summoned an Inzektor Centipede from the Graveyard with its effect, and Dragonfly Special Summoned a Hornet. Centipede got him a Dragonfly to add to his hand. Next, Newberry activated his new Centipede’s effect to equip it with a Hornet in the Graveyard. He sent the Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Kabazauls and then added another Inzektor Hornet to his hand with the effect Centipede. Next, he combined Centipede with Dragonfly to Summon Number 20: Giga-Brilliant. Then he Normal Summoned Dragonfly, equipped it with Hornet, and sent Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Evolzar Laggia and Special Summon a Centipede from his Deck. He equipped it with a Hornet to boost its ATK. Next, Newberry equipped his on-field Hornet with a Giga-Mantis to increase its Attack Points. Colin drew a bunch of cards with Maxx “C” throughout the turn, but it made no difference. Newberry detached an Xyz Material from Giga-Brilliant to boost the ATK of all of his monsters, and attacked directly with all of them to wipe out all 8000 of Colin’s Life Points in one turn!

[After the Match, Colin said he wishes he had pitched Maxx “C” when Newberry used his Dragonfly’s effect the first time in the turn. That way, he would’ve been able to draw 1 extra card. If it were Gorz, it could’ve saved him.]

Newberry drew Inzektor Centipede. He Normal Summoned it and activated its effect, but Colin flipped Torrential Tribute to clear the field! Newberry lost his face-down Reaper and his Centipede, and Colin’s face-down Sangan was destroyed. Colin grabbed Rescue Rabbit from his Deck with the effect of Sangan.

Colin Summoned Rescue Rabbit and banished the Rabbit to Special Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus. Newberry flipped Gozen Match and Colin attacked directly with both copies of Sabersaurus to drop Newberry down to 4200 Life Points. Newberry Set a card to his back row and then, unable to Xyz Summon due to Gozen Match, entered his End Phase where both Dinos were destroyed.

Newberry drew Mystical Space Typhoon. He Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly and activated its effect. Colin flipped Macrocosmos, but Newberry Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it. Dragonfly equipped itself with Hornet, and Newberry sent Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Colin’s face-down Dimensional Prison. Dragonfly Special Summoned a Centipede from the Deck, and Newberry activated Centipede’s effect to equip it with a Hornet and boost it to 2100 ATK. Colin took direct attacks from both monsters, dropping him down to 4900 Life Points. Newberry used Hornet’s effect and sent it to the Graveyard to destroy his own Dragonfly, activating the Centipede’s effect to add an Inzektor Dragonfly from his Deck to his hand.

Colin Normal Summoned Sabersaurus and attacked Centipede with it, destroying Newberry’s monster and dropping Newberry down to 3900 Life Points. He passed without a back row.

Newberry drew Inzektor Hornet next turn. He Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly and activated its effect to equip it with the Hornet in his Graveyard. Then he sent the Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Sabersaurus and Special Summon Inzektor Centipede from his Deck with the effect of Dragonfly. Centipede used its effect to equip itself with a Hornet, and then direct attacks from Dragonfly and Centipede dropped Colin down to 1800 Life Points. Once again, Newberry sent his Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy his own Dragonfly in Main Phase 2, triggering his Centipede’s effect so that he could add an Inzektor Dragonfly from his Deck to his hand.

Colin Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated its effect. Newberry Chained Maxx “C” and drew a card when Colin Special Summoned a Tour Guide from his Deck. With Gozen Match on the field, Colin was unable to Xyz Summon. Instead, he attacked Centipede with a Tour Guide and activated Forbidden Lance to lower Centipede’s attack, taking it down in battle. The other Tour Guide attacked directly, and Colin Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Newberry drew Smashing Ground next turn. He Summoned Dragonfly and activated its effect to equip it with Hornet; but Colin flipped Book of Moon to put the Dragonfly face-down before Colin could send the Hornet to the Graveyard.

Colin still couldn’t get over Dragonfly’s 1800 DEF. He drew a card and Set it to his back row.

Newberry drew Fiendish Chain and then Flip Summoned Dragonfly. He equipped it with Hornet and then sent Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Colin’s face-down Forbidden Lance. Colin Chained the Lance to weaken Dragonfly, and then Dragonfly Special Summoned a Hornet from the Deck. Newberry equipped his Hornet with one from his Graveyard and then sent the Equip to the Graveyard to destroy Colin’s face-down Mirror Force. Newberry Normal Summoned a Hornet and equipped it with a Hornet in the Graveyard, and then sent the Equip to the Graveyard to destroy Colin’s Tour Guide. Next, he attacked directly with Dragonfly and both Hornets, dropping Colin down to 600 Life Points. Newberry Set Fiendish Chain before ending his turn.

Colin activated Pot of Avarice to send 3 copies of Sabersaurus and 2 copies of Tour Guide From the Underworld from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw 2 cards, leaving him with 3 in his hand and none on the field. He Set a monster and 2 back rows, ending his turn.

Newberry activated Hornet’s effect. Colin Chained Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, and when Newberry Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it, Colin Chained another Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror! But it didn’t matter; Newberry attacked Colin’s face-down monster with Dragonfly, destroying his Effect Veiler, and then attacked directly with both Hornets to win the Duel and the Match!
