Tech Update: 5 Frequently Seen ORCS Cards

February 18th, 2012

Order of Chaos is full of cards that bring new and old themes to the competitive scene. But it also has a bunch of cool tech cards that can be used in just about anything. Check out some of the most versatile cards from Order of Chaos that players are using to step up their game in the tournament!

1. Number C39: Utopia Ray

Yuma’s first Xyz Monster just got an upgrade! Number C39: Utopia Ray can be placed right onto Number 39: Utopia and turn Utopia (and its remaining Materials!) into Xyz Material! Unlike Utopia, Utopia Ray won’t be destroyed if it’s attacked without an Xyz Material. It also has the power to decrease an opponent’s monster’s ATK by 1000 while boosting its own ATK by 500 whenever your Life Points are low. When you’re in a bind, upgrading to Number C39: Utopia Ray can win you a Duel. For lots of Duelists, that’s more than enough reason to include a copy of it in their Extra Decks. For others, the possibility of taking control of an opponent’s Utopia and replacing it with Utopia Ray gets it the nod.

2. Royal Prison

Royal Prison is a Continuous Trap Card that prevents players from Special Summoning monsters from the Graveyard. That means it can stop the effects of Monster Reborn, Spore, Wind-Up Rat, and a whole lot more! Even Dark World monsters tremble when placed in the Royal Prison. Royal Prison will stop Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World, Sillva, Warlord of Dark World, and Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World from ever hitting the field with their effects. Royal Prison is a powerful Side Deck card against some of the best Decks out there.

3. Xyz Reborn

Duelists are packing their Extra Decks with Xyz Monsters, and now they can bring their fallen Xyz Monsters back with Xyz Reborn! Xyz Reborn becomes an Xyz Material attached to whichever monster it revives, so using it to return Wind-Up Zenmaines, Number 39: Utopia, or Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja will instantly muster an impressive monster to your field. We’re likely to see Xyz Reborn gain even more popularity in the future, as more Xyz Monsters are released.

4. Dark Blade the Captain of the Evil World

LIGHT Decks have a new enemy to contend with thanks to Order of Chaos. Dark Blade the Captain of the Evil World is an 1800 ATK Level 4 DARK monster with the power to absorb Level 4 or lower LIGHT monsters and use them as a shield. With Thunder King Rai-Oh popular in almost every Deck, Dark Blade the Captain of the Evil World can be a key card for breaking through an opponent’s field. Decks that Summon other LIGHT monsters, including Elemental HERO Neos Alius or The Agent of Creation – Venus, are especially vulnerable to the newest Dark Blade. You’ll need to banish a DARK monster from your Graveyard to activate Dark Blade’s effect, but for most Decks, including those that run Tour Guide From the Underworld, that’s an easy requirement to meet.

5. Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon

Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon isn’t easy to say, but it sure is easy to Summon! Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon is a Level 5 DARK monster with 2200 ATK, and you can Special Summon it from your hand whenever one of your monsters is destroyed. Even on its own, Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon’s high Attack Points can pose a threat to any opponent. But using it in a Rank 5 Xyz Summon to Summon Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon, Tiras, Keeper of Genesis, or Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja is even better! Since Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon is so easy to Summon, it can be splashed into just about any Deck.

The tournament floor is flooding with new cards from Order of Chaos, and at the end of the weekend, we’ll see which ones emerge on top!
