100th YCS First-Timers!

March 24th, 2012

Lots of Duelists in attendance this weekend are getting their first look at the March 2012 Forbidden & Limited List in action. But many of the Duelists here are also competing in their first ever YCS event! At YCS Atlanta, a first-timer became the YCS Champion. Will it happen again here in Long Beach? Check out some of Long Beach’s YCS First-Timers who traveled here for an unforgettable tournament experience!

Matt.

Matt Sun is 16 years old and traveled here from Irvine, California to compete in his first YCS event with his Dragunity Deck. He’s surprised by the big turnout this weekend. “I thought it would be a lot smaller,” he said. He told me that he liked getting the 5 free packs of Order of Chaos for entering. His favorite Dragunity in his Deck is Dragunity Aklys.

He creates big combos with Divine Wind of Mist Valley and his Mist Valley monsters. “I bounce a card, Special Summon with Divine Wind of Mist Valley, and Synchro Summon,” he told me. I asked Danny what his favorite Mist Valley card is, and he replied, “Mist Valley Falcon! My first Mist Valley.” I asked him what he’s enjoying most so far about his YCS experience. He answered, “I like that I can meet and greet people that play Yu-Gi-Oh!. In San Pedro we have our own little group, so it’s nice to be able to mingle.”

Max is also enjoying his participation prize, the Tour Bus From the Underworld Game Mat, which he’s using in his Duels.  “The mat is pretty neat,” he said. “I like it.”
