Dragon Duel Round 2 Roundup – Sunday

March 26th, 2012

The Dragon Duelists are at it again! The young Duelists have prepared for 6 Rounds of Swiss that will end with 1 Duelist receiving a Blood Mefist prize card! Check out how things went at the Top 4 Tables in Round 2!

.

At Table 1, Zachary Leverett used his Dino Rabbit Deck to defeat Aden Garrabrant Inzektor Guaiba Deck 2-1!

In Duel 1, Leverett Summoned Evolzar Laggia by using Sabersaurus, without using Rabbit. He later Summoned a Dolkka that stopped the effect of Garrabrant’s Zenmaines, putting Leverett in a great position that he was able to leverage into a win.

In Duel 2, Tour Guide From the Underworld, Sangan, Wind-Up Zenmaines, and Evolzar Laggia struck the field. The turning point of the Duel took place when Guaiba destroyed Leverett’s Sabersaurus that was turned face-down by Book of Moon, allowing Garrabrant to Special Summon another Guaiba from his Deck. Once Garrabrant combined his Guaibas into Laggia, Leverett couldn’t recover.

In Duel 3, Leverett Summoned Evolzar Laggia first turn with Rescue Rabbit and Set 3 back rows. Bottomless Trap Hole banished Garrabrant’s Centipede when he tried to use it to retaliate. Leverett’s Tour Guide was stopped by Veiler, and Garrabrant tried to use Dimensional Prison against Laggia to banish it, but Leverett activated Forbidden Lance. Garrabrant never destroyed the Laggia that Leverett Summoned on his first turn, because it was too well-protected.

.

At Table 2, Lucas Chau used his Dino Rabbit Deck to defeat Kevin Deitche’s Inzektor Deck 2-1!

In Duel 1, Chau Xyz Summoned Evolzar Laggia on his first turn. Deitche was able to get rid of its Xyz Materials by using Dark Hole, and then Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly. Dragonfly equipped itself with Inzektor Hornet and Deitche sent Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Laggia. After using Dragonfly’s effect to Special Summon Inzektor Centipede to the field, he used Centipede’s effect to destroy Deitche’s last back row: a Mystical Space Typhoon. With the Inzektor combos moving at full force, Chau couldn’t recover.

In Duel 2, Chau Summoned Evolzar Dolkka first turn by using Rescue Rabbit, and protected it with Fiendish Chain and Solemn Warning. Deitche used Dark Hole to destroy the Dolkka, but his Inzektor combos were stopped by Fiendish Chain. Chau used Rescue Rabbit a second time with help from Leviair and made a Laggia. Eventually, a direct attack with Maxx “C” was the finishing move that knocked Dietche out of the Duel.

In Duel 3, Deitche swarmed the field with Inzektor Dragonfly and Inzektor Centipede. But Chau was able to use Pot of Avarice to reuse Kabazauls. After using Pot of Avarice, he Summoned and banished a Rescue Rabbit to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls. Then he used Monster Reborn to revive a fallen Dolkka and used his monsters to attack and destroy all 3 of Deitche’s Inzektors. After the Match, Deitche regretted not Xyz Summoning Zenmaines with his Inzektors, instead of leaving all 3 on the field, so that he’d be able to withstand more attacks.

.

At Table 3, Jesse Kotton’s Dino Rabbit Deck defeated Galdino Chavez’s Inzektors 2-1!

In Duel 1, Chavez pulled off his Inzektor combos with lots of back rows. Kotton was able to Summon Evolzar Laggia once, but Chavez forced its negation with Compulsory Evacuation Device and then used Inzektor Dragonfly with Inzektor Hornet to destroy it.

In Duel 2, Kotton started with Rabbit leading to the Summon of Laggia, protected by Book of Moon. Mystical Space Typhoon destroyed Book of Moon, but Laggia negated Dragonfly’s Summon. Kotton Summoned Sabersaurus, and Sabersaurus and Laggia attacked directly next turn. Kotton Set Macro Cosmos and Torrential Tribute, and Chavez destroyed Macro with Mystical Space Typhoon next turn before Summoning Dragonfly. Kotton was forced to Torrential to clear the field. Kotton scored a direct hit with Sabersaurus next turn. Chavez tried to defend by Setting a monster, but Kotton drew and Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld next turn, allowing him to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon and Special Summon Rescue Rabbit. Rescue Rabbit was used in an Xyz Summon for Number 39: Utopia, and Utopia ended the Duel!

In Duel 3, Chavez used Inzektor Centipede with Hornet to destroy Kotton’s Sangan, giving Chavez a Dragonfly in his hand and giving Kotton a Rescue Rabbit with Sangan. Kotton used Heavy Storm to clear Chavez’s back rows and then safely Summoned Rescue Rabbit to Xyz Summon Evolzar Dolkka before Setting Macro Cosmos. Chavez couldn’t destroy Macro Cosmos, and Kotton Summoned Tour Guide next turn to make Leviair and Special Summon Rescue Rabbit to create a Laggia. It led to a quick victory for Kotton.

.

At Table 4, Brian Ahle used his Dino Rabbit Deck to defeat Nicholas Kauffman’s Wind-Up Deck 2-0!

In Duel 1, Kauffman controlled the field with his Wind-Ups and Summoned Tiras, Keeper of Genesis. But Ahle topdecked Tour Guide and Xyz Summoned Number 30: Acid Golem to attack over and destroy Tiras. Smashing Ground destroyed Number 30: Acid Golem. Kauffman Summoned Wind-Up Rabbit to attack Ahle directly. Ahle Set a Fiendish Chain and passed. Kauffman attacked with Wind-Up Rabbit. Ahle was forced to use Fiendish Chain because he had less than 1400 Life Points. Kauffman didn’t evade with his Rabbit. Ahle used Dark Hole to destroy Rabbit next turn. Kauffman couldn’t Summon a monster next turn to take down Ahle’s last Life Points, and Ahle Summoned Rescue Rabbit to Summon Laggia. 2 attacks later, Ahle won with Laggia.

In Duel 2, Kauffman tried to do the Wind-Up Hunter loop later in the Duel. Ahle used Maxx “C”, but Kauffman kept going! Ahle ended up drawing more cards than he sent to the Graveyard, and Kauffman couldn’t get past all of his cards. Ahle eventually won the Duel with Cyber Dragon and Evolzar Laggia.

Zachary Leverett, Lucas Chau, Jesse Kotton, and Brian Ahle are moving on 2-0 in the tournament!
