Duelist Profile: “Yuma” Nathan Smith

March 25th, 2012

32-year-old Nathan Smith has been a big Yu-Gi-Oh! fan since the beginning. “I’ve been doing Yu-Gi-Oh! for about 7 or 8 years. I’ve bought every Structure Deck, Booster, and Tin. I’ve watched each series.”

Nathan loves wearing costumes of his favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! characters at conventions, but he has never done it in front of this many Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. “I’ve been Rafael from Waking the Dragons, Dimitri – the Copycat Duelist, Zane (both the good and the evil one), Yusei and Jack Atlas for 5Ds, and now Yuma for Zexal. My next 2 projects are Shark and Kite.”

So why does Smith do it? “I enjoy this game,” he said. “Everyone should enjoy this game and have fun with it. That’s why everyone is here!” Smith likes meeting new Yu-Gi-Oh! players and teaching kids how to play at his local. Wearing a costume while doing it just adds to the excitement.
