Sunday’s Dragon Duel: Benjamen Leverett vs. Zachary Leverett
Zachary Leverett lost a Dragon Duels Feature Match yesterday, and now he’s back at Table 1 in the last round of Sunday’s Dragon Duel! This time, the only thing that stands in his way of a Dragon Duel victory is his younger brother, 11-year-old Ben Leverett! Ben is currently the only undefeated Duelist in the Dragon Duel, with a perfect 4-0 record. Ben and Zach are both using Dino Rabbit Decks.
Ben Set Book of Moon and Fiendish Chain and ended his turn.
Zach activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Ben’s Book of Moon and then Summoned Rescue Rabbit! He banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus from his Deck and then attacked directly with both of them, dropping Ben down to 4200 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Zach combined his Sabersauruses to Summon Evolzar Laggia, and Set 3 cards to his back row.
Ben activated Fiendish Chain next turn, targeting Evolzar Laggia, and Zach Chained Forbidden Lance to make his Laggia unaffected by Spells and Traps. Next, Ben activated Heavy Storm, and Zach negated it by detaching both Xyz Materials from Evolzar Laggia. Ben Normal Summoned Rescue Rabbit; but when he used its effect by banishing it, Zach negated it with Solemn Warning. Next, Ben Set Forbidden Lance and Fiendish Chain. He activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Sabersaurus, and Zach flipped Torrential Tribute to destroy the Sabersaurus. Evolzar Laggia survived the Torrential Tribute thanks to the Lance that Zach played earlier in the turn.
Zach Summoned Sangan next turn and attacked with it, dropping Ben down to 3200 Life Points.
Ben drew Torrential Tribute next turn and Set it.
Zach attacked directly with Sangan and dropped Ben down to 2200 Life Points.
Ben drew Solemn Judgment and Set it.
Zach attacked directly with Sangan once again, dropping Ben down to 1200 Life Points. He Set a card in Main Phase 2 and then ended his turn.
Ben drew and Set Snowman Eater next turn.
Zach Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated its effect; but Ben Chained Fiendish Chain to negate it. Next, Zach combined Sangan with Tour Guide to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon and detached Tour Guide from it to activate its effect and Special Summon Rescue Rabbit from his banished zone. He banished the Rescue Rabbit to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Deck, and then Ben activated Torrential Tribute to clear the field!
Ben drew Starlight Road and Set it.
Zach Set a monster and passed.
Ben drew Mystical Space Typhoon and Set it.
Zach Summoned Maxx “C” and then attacked directly with it, dropping Ben down to 700 Life Points! Zach Set Book of Moon before ending his turn, but lost it to Ben’s Mystical Space Typhoon in the End Phase.
Ben drew and Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld next turn! He activated its effect, and when Zach tried to negate it with Fiendish Chain, Ben flipped Forbidden Lance! He Special Summoned Sangan from his Deck and then combined Sangan and Tour Guide to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon. He detached an Xyz Material to Special Summon Rescue Rabbit and then banished Rescue Rabbit to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Deck. He combined his 2 Kabazauls to Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Leviair attacked and destroyed Maxx “C”, and Dolkka attacked Snowman Eater, destroying it and negating its effect.
Zach Set a card to each zone and passed.
Ben drew another Tour Guide next turn! He activated Leviair’s effect to Special Summon Rescue Rabbit and then banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus from his Deck. He combined his Sabersauruses to Summon Evolzar Laggia. Next, Ben Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and Zach conceded!
Ben Leverett topdecks Tour Guide From the Underworld to turn Duel 1 around and beat his brother! Zach Leverett will be going first in Duel 2!
Zach opened up Duel 2 by Normal Summoning Rescue Rabbit and banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Deck. He combined them to Summon Evolzar Laggia and then Set 2 cards to his back row.
Ben opened up with Monster Reborn, Fiendish Chain, Bottomless Trap Hole, Sangan, Rescue Rabbit, and Tour Guide From the Underworld. He Summoned Rescue Rabbit and used its effect to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Deck. Zach flipped Book of Moon to put one of them face-down before Ben could Xyz Summon a monster. Ben Set Fiendish Chain and Bottomless Trap Hole before ending his turn, and Zach hit the Fiendish Chain with Mystical Space Typhoon in the End Phase.
Zach Normal Summoned Rescue Rabbit and banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus form his Deck. Ben tried to banish them both with Bottomless Trap Hole, but Zach negated Bottomless Trap Hole with the effect of Laggia. Next, Zach combined his 2 Sabersauruses to Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Dolkka attacked and destroyed Ben’s face-down Kabazauls, and then Laggia attacked directly.
Ben drew Maxx “C”. He Set Sangan and passed.
Zach Normal Summoned Kabazauls. He attacked Sangan with Evolzar Dolkka and negated its effect by detaching an Xyz Material. Then he attacked directly with Sangan and Kabazauls to drop Ben down to 1500 Life Points.
Ben drew Book of Moon next turn! He activated it to turn Evolzar Dolkka face-down and then Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld! He activated Tour Guide’s effect to Special Summon another Tour Guide from his Deck, and combined both Tour Guides to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon. He detached a Tour Guide from Leviair to activate its effect and Special Summon Rescue Rabbit, and then banished Rescue Rabbit to Special Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus. He combined both Sabersauruses to Summon Number 39: Utopia and then used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Sabersaurus from Zach’s Graveyard. Utopia attacked and destroyed Laggia, then Sabersaurus attacked over Kabazauls, and Leviair attacked and destroyed Zach’s face-down Dolkka.
Zach activated Dark Hole to clear the field! He Set a card to each zone before ending his turn.
Ben drew Solemn Warning. He Set it with only 1500 Life Points remaining, and Set Maxx “C”.
Zach drew and passed.
Ben drew Fiendish Chain and Set it.
Zach drew a card and Set it to his back row.
Ben drew Kabazauls. He tried to Summon it, but it was banished by Zach’s Bottomless Trap Hole.
Zach Set a monster and passed.
Ben drew Mystical Space Typhoon and Set it.
Zach Flip Summoned Sangan and attacked Ben’s face-down Maxx “C” to destroy it. Ben activated Mystical Space Typhoon in the End Phase to destroy Zach’s Fiendish Chain.
Ben drew Gorz the Emissary of Darkness next turn and passed.
Zach activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Tour Guide From the Underworld. He attacked with Tour Guide to drop Ben down to 500 Life Points and then attacked with Sangan, forcing Ben to stop the attack with Fiendish Chain. In Main Phase 2, Zach Flip Summoned Snowman Eater and used its effect to destroy Sangan. Zach used Sangan’s effect to add a Tour Guide from his Deck to his hand. Next, Zach combined his Snowman Eater with Tour Guide to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines in Defense Position.
Ben drew Forbidden Lance next turn and Set it.
Zach Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and switched Wind-Up Zenmaines to Attack Position. Wind-Up Zenmaines attacked Ben, and Ben used Forbidden Lance to stay in the Duel! But when Tour Guide From the Underworld attacked him next, Ben’s last few Life Points were wiped out!
Zach Leverett wins Duel 2 to push the Match against his brother to a final Duel!
Ben opened up Duel 3 with Tour Guide and activated its effect to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck in Defense Position. He Set Forbidden Lance and Bottomless Trap Hole before ending his turn.
Zach activated Heavy Storm to destroy Ben’s face-down Lance and Bottomless and then Normal Summoned his own Tour Guide From the Underworld. He activated its effect, and Ben Chained Maxx “C”. Zach Special Summoned Sangan and Ben drew Fiendish Chain. Sangan attacked Tour Guide, destroying both monsters, and Zach searched his Deck for a Rescue Rabbit to add to his hand with Sangan’s effect. Zach Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.
Ben drew Bottomless Trap Hole next turn. He Set it along with Fiendish Chain and Set Snowman Eater.
Zach activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Fiendish Chain and then Normal Summoned Rescue Rabbit. He banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls. Ben flipped Bottomless Trap Hole, and Zach Chained Forbidden Lance to keep one of his Kabazauls on the field. Zach attacked Ben’s face-down Snowman Eater with Kabazauls, and Snowman Eater destroyed Kabazauls. Zach Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.
Ben drew Dark Hole next turn. He switched Sangan into Attack Position and then attacked Tour Guide with it to destroy both monsters. He searched his Deck for a Rescue Rabbit to add to his hand with the effect of Sangan. He Summoned Rescue Rabbit in Main Phase 2 and banished it to Special Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Deck. Zach flipped Bottomless Trap Hole to banish both copies of Kabazauls.
Zach activated Mind Control to take control of Snowman Eater and then Normal Summoned his own Snowman Eater! He combined both Snowman Eaters to Xyz Summon band then used Leviair’s effect to Special Summon Rescue Rabbit. He banished Rescue Rabbit to Special Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus from his Deck and then combined both of his Dinos to Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Leviair and Dolkka attacked directly to drop Ben down to 3900 Life Points.
Ben drew Monster Reborn next turn! He activated Dark Hole to destroy Leviair and Dolkka and then Normal Summoned Kabazauls. Zach flipped Torrential Tribute to destroy the Kabazauls and then Ben activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Zach’s Dolkka. He attacked directly with Dolkka to drop Zach down to 4800 Life Points.
Zach drew Tour Guide From the Underworld next turn! He Summoned it and activated its effect to Special Summon another Tour Guide from his Deck. Then he combined his 2 Tour Guides to Summon Number 17: Leviathan Dragon. He detached an Xyz Material from it to boost it to 2500 ATK and then attacked over Dolkka to destroy it. He had a Number 17: Leviathan Dragon on the field with no hand, and Ben had no cards in his hand or on his field.
Ben drew his own Tour Guide From the Underworld next turn! He Summoned it and activated its effect to Special Summon another Tour Guide from his Deck. Then he combined his Tour Guides to Summon Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction! Acid Golem attacked and destroyed Number 17: Leviathan Dragon.
Zach drew Forbidden Lance and Set it.
Ben drew Torrential Tribute and detached an Xyz Material from Acid Golem in his Standby Phase. He attacked directly with Acid Golem and Zach activated Forbidden Lance to reduce its ATK by 800. Zach dropped down to 2100 Life Points.
Zach drew Gorz the Emissary of Darkness next turn and conceded, knowing that Ben would finish him off with Acid Golem next turn!
Benjamin Leverett uses Number 30: Acid Golem to defeat his brother and become Sunday’s Dragon Duel Champion!
