Top 32: Blake McCrary vs. Alexander Dukes
Texas’s Blake McCrary and Oklahoma’s Alexander Dukes both finished their Swiss Rounds with a 9-2 record, and now they’re Dueling for a spot in the Top 16. McCrary is using a Six Samurai Deck, and Dukes is running Inzektors.
Dukes opened up with Call of the Haunted, Inzektor Dragonfly, Inzektor Centipede, Fiendish Chain, and 2 copies of Mystical Space Typhoon. He Set 2 cards to his back row and passed.
McCrary opened up with Fiendish Chain, Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, The Six Samurai – Zanji, 2 copies of Six Samurai United, and Musakani Magatama. He activated both copies of Six Samurai United and then Normal Summoned Zanji, adding a Bushido Counter to each copy of Six Samurai United. Next, he Special Summoned Grandmaster of the Six Samurai to put a second Bushido Counter on each, and Dukes flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy one of them. McCrary sent his Six Samurai United with 2 Bushido Counters on it to the Graveyard to draw Spirit of the Six Samurai and Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan, and then attacked directly with Zanji and Grandmaster of the Six Samurai to drop Dukes down to 4100 Life Points. McCrary Set Fiendish Chain and Musakani Magatama before ending his turn.
Dukes Set a monster and a third card to his back row before ending his turn.
McCrary drew Solemn Judgment! He Normal Summoned Spirit of the Six Samurai and used its effect to equip it to Zanji. Next, he Special Summoned Kizan from his hand. Zanji attacked Dukes’s face-down monster, but Dukes flipped Fiendish Chain to stop the attack. Then Grandmaster of the Six Samurai attacked and destroyed Dukes’s face-down Inzektor Dragonfly. Kizan attacked directly next, dropping Dukes down to 2000 Life Points. McCrary Set Solemn Judgment before ending his turn.
Dukes Normal Summoned Inzektor Centipede and then activated Call of the Haunted to try to Special Summon Inzektor Dragonfly; but McCrary activated Solemn Judgment and gave up 4000 Life Points to negate the Call of the Haunted! Dukes used the effect of his Centipede to equip it with the Dragonfly in his Graveyard and then Dukes activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the Dragonfly. Dukes searched his Deck for Inzektor Giga-Mantis with the effect of Centipede and then equipped it to Inzektor Centipede. He attacked Grandmaster of the Six Samurai with his 2400 ATK Centipede and then ended his turn.
McCrary drew Heavy Storm next turn. He Special Summoned his Spirit of the Six Samurai from his back row and then combined Kizan and Zanji to Xyz Summon Blade Armor Ninja. Next, he activated Heavy Storm to destroy his own Musakani Magatama and Fiendish Chain, along with Dukes’s back row Giga-Mantis. Giga-Mantis Special Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly from the Graveyard in Defense Position with its effect, and Centipede’s effect allowed Dukes to add Inzektor Hornet from his Deck to his hand. Blade Armor Ninja attacked and destroyed Inzektor Centipede and then destroyed Inzektor Dragonfly. Spirit of the Six Samurai attacked directly to drop Dukes down to 1100 Life Points, and Dukes Special Summoned Gorz the Emissary of Darkness!
Dukes Normal Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly next turn! He activated its effect to give it a Hornet and then sent the Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Blade Armor Ninja. He Special Summoned Centipede from his Deck with the effect of Dragonfly, and gave his Centipede a Hornet with its effect. He sent the Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Spirit and added Inzektor Dragonfly from his Deck to his hand with Centipede’s effect. Direct attacks from Inzektor Centipede, Inzektor Dragonfly, and Gorz the Emissary of Darkness wiped McCrary out!

McCrary opened up with Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, Six Samurai United, Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi, and 2 copies of Solemn Warning. He activated the Six Samurai United and Normal Summoned Enishi to put a Bushido Counter on it. McCrary Set both copies of Solemn Warning before ending his turn.
Dukes opened up with Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, Solemn Judgment, Inzektor Centipede, Mystical Space Typhoon, and 2 copies of Effect Veiler. He Set 2 back rows and a monster.
McCrary drew Kagemusha of the Six Samurai and then Normal Summoned it. He tried to put a second Bushido Counter on Six Samurai United, but Dukes activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it before McCrary could send it to the Graveyard to draw 2 cards. McCrary Set Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror before ending his turn.

McCrary drew Shien’s Smoke Signal. He activated it to add Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki from his Deck to his hand and then Normal Summoned it. He activated its effect, but Dukes negated it with Effect Veiler. Next, Dukes activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy McCrary’s face-down Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror before McCrary could Summon Shi En. McCrary Tuned Kagemusha of the Six Samurai and Kageki together next, and Synchro Summon Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En! Shi En attacked Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, and Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter destroyed one of McCrary’s face-down Solemn Warnings before sending Inzektor Hornet, Inzektor Dragonfly, and Ryko from the top of Dukes’s Deck to his Graveyard. Next, Enishi attacked Dukes directly, dropping him down to 6300 Life Points.
Dukes Summoned Inzektor Centipede and used its effect to equip it with Inzektor Hornet; but McCrary used Enishi’s effect to return Centipede to Dukes’s hand before Dukes could use the effect of his Hornet. Dukes Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.
McCrary drew Monster Reborn next turn! He Normal Summoned Kagemusha of the Six Samurai and then attacked with Kagemusha, Enishi, and Shi En to drop Dukes down to 1200 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, he activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Inzektor Hornet in Defense Position.
Dukes Summoned Inzektor Centipede next turn. McCrary tried to negate the Summon with Solemn Warning, but McCrary flipped Solemn Judgment to negate it! McCrary attacked Inzektor Hornet with his Centipede to destroy it, and then used his Centipede’s effect to equip the Hornet to his Centipede. He sent Hornet to the Graveyard to try to destroy Shi En, but McCrary used Shi En’s effect to protect it by sending Kagemusha to the Graveyard instead. Dukes added Inzektor Giga-Mantis from his Deck to his hand with his Centipede’s effect. Dukes flipped his face-down Monster Reborn next, targeting the Inzektor Dragonfly in his Graveyard, but McCrary negated the Reborn with Shi En’s effect. Dukes followed up by equipping his in-hand Inzektor Giga-Mantis to his Centipede and activating Heavy Storm! Heavy Storm destroyed the Giga-Mantis, and Giga-Mantis’s effect Special Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly from Dukes’s Graveyard. Centipede’s effect allowed McCrary to add an Inzektor Dragonfly from his Deck to his hand. Next, Dukes used his on-field Dragonfly’s effect to equip it with the Hornet in his Graveyard, and used his Hornet’s effect to destroy Enishi. Dragonfly’s effect activated to Special Summon Inzektor Centipede from his Deck in Defense Position, and then Centipede’s effect activated to equip itself with Inzektor Hornet. Dukes sent his Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Shi En, and then Centipede’s effect activated to add another Inzektor Dragonfly from Dukes’s Deck to his hand. Next, Dukes combined his Attack Position Inzektor Centipede and Attack Position Inzektor Dragonfly to Xyz Summon Number 17: Leviathan Dragon. He detached Inzektor Centipede from the Leviathan Dragon to boost it to 2500 ATK and then ended his turn.
McCrary drew The Six Samurai – Irou and Summoned it. He attacked and destroyed Inzektor Centipede and then ended his turn.
Dukes Summoned Inzektor Dragonfly. He activated its effect to equip it with the Hornet in his Graveyard and then sent the Hornet to the Graveyard to destroy Irou. McCrary Special Summoned Inzektor Centipede from his Deck with Dragonfly’s effect and then used Centipede’s effect to have it equip itself with the Giga-Mantis in his Graveyard. Direct attacks from Leviathan Dragon, Dragonfly, and Inzektor Centipede finished McCrary off!
