Only Dino Rabbit and Dragon Decks remain in the tournament, and now one of each is facing off in our Top 8 Feature Match! Jamal Lagrant takes his Dino Rabbit Deck against Andrew Martin’s Dragons in a Match that will determine each Duelist’s fate in the tournament!

Duel One

Martin opened up with Chaos Sorcerer, Dark Hole, Heavy Storm, Monster Reborn, Darkflare Dragon, and Jain, Lightsworn Paladin. He Normal Summoned Jain and ended his turn. He sent Solar Recharge and Lyla from his Deck to his Graveyard in his End Phase with the effect of Jain.

Lagrant Normal Summoned Jurrac Guaiba.  He attacked Jain and then used Forbidden Lance in the Damage Step to lower Jain to 1100 ATK. Guaiba defeated Jain, and Lagrant Special Summoned another Guaiba from his Deck. He combined both Guaibas to Summon Evolzar Dolkka and Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Martin drew Solar Recharge, but with no Lightsworn monsters in his hand, he couldn’t activate it. He activated Heavy Storm to destroy Lagrant’s face-down Heavy Storm and then used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Jain from his Graveyard. Next, he Tributed Jain to Summon Darkflare Dragon and attacked over Dolkka to destroy it and drop Lagrant to 7900 Life Points.

Lagrant Set a card to each zone and passed.

Martin drew Lightpulsar Dragon and then used his Darkflare Dragon’s effect. He discarded Lightpulsar Dragon to send Eclipse Wyvern from his Deck to his Graveyard and banish Dolkka from Lagrant’s Graveyard. Then he used Wyvern’s effect to banish Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from his Deck. Next, Martin attacked Lagrant’s face-down Kabazauls with Darkflare Dragon to destroy it.

Lagrant Set a card to each zone and passed.

Martin drew Tour Guide From the Underworld next turn. He attacked Lagrant’s face-down monster with Darkflare Dragon and Lagrant used Compulsory Evacuation Device to return the Darkflare Dragon to his hand. In Main Phase 2, Martin Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld, but had its effect negated by Lagrant’s Effect Veiler. Next, Martin activated Dark Hole to destroy his own Tour Guide and Lagrant’s face-down Sabersaurus. Martin banished Eclipse Wyvern and Tour Guide From the Underworld next, in order to Special Summon Darkflare Dragon. Wyvern’s effect returned Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon to Martin’s hand.

Lagrant Set a card to his back row and passed.

Martin attacked directly with his Darkflare Dragon to drop Lagrant to 5500 Life Points.

Lagrant drew and Normal Summoned Rescue Rabbit, but Martin discarded Effect Veiler to negate its effect. He banished the Rabbit anyway to get it off of the field and into the banished zone.

Martin sent Lightpulsar Dragon and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from his hand to the Graveyard to try to Special Summon Lightpulsar Dragon from his Graveyard; but Lagrant flipped Solemn Judgment and paid 2750 Life Points to negate its Summon.  Next, Martin banished Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Lyla from his Graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Sorcerer and try to end the Duel, but Lagrant flipped Torrential Tribute to clear the field!

Martin drew Pot of Avarice next turn! He had no other cards on the field or in his hand. He sent 5 monsters from his Graveyard to his Deck to draw 2 cards! He Summoned Sabersaurus and attacked directly to drop Martin down to 5400 Life Points.

Lagrant drew Lyla next turn! He discarded it with Solar Recharge to draw Phantom of Chaos and Ehren, Lightsworn Monk, and sent Allure of Darkness and Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He sent Phantom of Chaos and Ehren from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon Lightpulsar Dragon from his Graveyard and then attacked over Sabersaurus with his Dragon, dropping Lagrant down to 2150 Life Points.

Lagrant Set a card to his back row and passed.

Martin drew Tour Guide From the Underworld and then attacked with Lightpulsar Dragon to win the Duel!

Jamal Lagrant almost comes back with Pot of Avarice, but Andrew Martin manages to win Duel 1 with a lot of help from Lightpulsar Dragon! Jamal Lagrant will be going first in Duel 2!

Duel Two

Lagrant started off Duel 2 by Setting 2 cards to his back row.

Martin opened up with Soul Taker, Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, Lightpulsar Dragon, Future Fusion, and 2 copies of Effect Veiler. He activated Future Fusion, but Lagrant Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to stop Martin from sending Dragons from his Deck to his Graveyard.

Lagrant passed without making a play.

Martin drew Darkflare Dragon and passed.

Lagrant passed again without making a play.

Martin drew Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress and Summoned it. He attacked with Lyla and Lagrant used his back-row Forbidden Chalice to give Lyla 400 extra ATK. He lost 2100 Life Points, and then Special Summoned Gorz the Emissary of Darkness to the field, with a 2100 ATK and DEF Token.

[That was a cool way to boost his Emissary of Darkness Token!]

Lagrant switched his Gorz and his Token to Attack Position and then attacked Lyla with his 2100 ATK Emissary of Darkness Token. Martin dropped down to 7600 Life Points, and Lagrant chose not to attack with Gorz.

Martin drew Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning next turn! As Martin tried to enter his End Phase, Lagrant flipped Macro Cosmos. Martin banished the Darkflare Dragon he was going to discard to the Graveyard because he had 7 cards in his hand in his End Phase.

Lagrant Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated its effect to Special Summon another Tour Guide from his Deck. He combined his Tour Guides to Summon Number 30: Acid Golem and then direct attacks from Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, a 2100 ATK Emissary of Darkness Token, and a 3000 ATK Number 30: Acid Golem wiped out the last 7600 Life Points that Martin had! Martin tried to Special Summon his own Gorz when Lagrant attacked, but Lagrant used Solemn Warning to negate its Summon and seal the Duel.

Duel Three

Martin opened up Duel 3 with Future Fusion, Eclipse Wyvern, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, Lightpulsar Dragon, Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, and Chaos Sorcerer. He activated Future Fusion and sent Eclipse Wyvern, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Darkflare Dragon, and 2 Light Pulsar Dragons from his Deck to his Graveyard to try to Summon Five-Headed Dragon 2 turns later. He used his Wyvern’s effect to banish Dark Armed Dragon from his Deck. Then he banished Lightpulsar Dragon and Darkflare Dragon from his Graveyard to Special Summon Lightpulsar Dragon from his hand.

Lagrant used Soul Release to banish all of the cards in Martin’s Graveyard!

When Wyvern was banished, Martin returned Dark Armed Dragon from his banished zone to his hand. Next, Lagrant Normal Summoned Kabazauls and Set 4 cards to his back row.

Martin drew Sangan next turn. He attacked Kabazauls with Lightpulsar Dragon and lost his monster to Dimensional Prison. Then he Set Ryko and ended his turn.

Lagrant passed without making a play.

Martin Special Summoned Five-Headed Dragon with Future Fusion in his Standby Phase and then activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Lagrant’s Solemn Warning. Then he Flip Summoned Ryko and used its Flip Effect to destroy Lagrant’s face-down Forbidden Lance. Ryko sent Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Effect Veiler, and Solar Recharge from the top of Martin’s Deck to his Graveyard. He banished Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Effect Veiler from his Graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Sorcerer and used Sorcerer’s effect to banish Kabazauls. Then Ryko attacked for 200 points of damage. When Five-Headed Dragon attacked, Lagrant flipped Compulsory Evacuation Device to return the Dragon to Martin’s Extra Deck. Martin Set Sangan before ending his turn.

Lagrant drew Rescue Rabbit next turn, with 1 card in hand and no cards on the field! He Summoned it and banished it to Summon 2 copies of Kabazauls from his Deck. Then he combined his Kabazauls to Xyz Summon Evolzar Laggia in Attack Position.

Laggia attacked and destroyed Chaos Sorcerer.

Martin drew Monster Reborn next turn! He Tributed his face-down Sangan and his Ryko to Summon Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, and Lagrant negated its Summon with Laggia’s effect. Martin got an Effect Veiler from his Deck with Sangan’s effect. Martin had exactly 3 DARK monsters in his Graveyard, so he Special Summoned Dark Armed Dragon. He banished Sangan to destroy Evolzar Laggia with the effect of Dark Armed Dragon and then attacked directly.

Lagrant Set a monster and passed.

Martin banished Chaos Sorcerer from his Graveyard to destroy Lagrant’s face-down Kycoo and then activated Monster Reborn to Special Summon Gorz from his Graveyard! He attacked directly with Gorz to drop Lagrant down to 2300 Life Points, and Lagrant Special Summoned his last in-hand card: Gorz! Gorz recruited a 2700 DEF Token to join it, and Dark Armed Dragon destroyed the Token in battle. Martin Normal Summoned Effect Veiler in Main Phase 2 and Tuned it with Gorz to Summon Scrap Dragon. He used Scrap Dragon’s effect to destroy his own Future Fusion and Lagrant’s Gorz.

Lagrant topdecked Tour Guide From the Underworld and Summoned it! He Special Summoned a Tour Guide from his Deck and combined his Tour Guides to Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon. Then he detached an Xyz Material from Leviair to Special Summon Rescue Rabbit, and banished Rescue Rabbit to Special Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus from his Deck. Lagrant combined his 2 Dinosaurs to Xyz Summon Maestroke the Symphony Djinn and detached an Xyz Material from it to put Dark Armed Dragon face-down. He attacked Dark Armed Dragon with Maestroke to destroy it.

Martin drew Heavy Storm next turn. He Normal Summoned Jain and then used Jain to attack Maestroke. Maestroke protected itself with an Xyz Material. Scrap Dragon attacked Maestroke next to get rid of another Xyz Material, and in Main Phase 2, Martin Set Heavy Storm and destroyed it along with Lagrant’s Maestroke by using Scrap Dragon.

Lagrant drew a card and conceded, unable to take down Martin’s monsters.
