It’s Patrick Clarey’s birthday and he’s currently 8-2 with his Scrap Deck. He’s facing off against Randall Varasteh’s Dino Rabbit Deck in a Match that will determine which Duelist advances to the Top 32!

Duel One

Varasteh started off the Duel by Summoning Thunder King Rai-Oh and Setting a card to his back row.

Clarey opened up with Torrential Tribute, Pot of Duality, Solemn Warning, Scrap Beast, Effect Veiler, and Solemn Judgment. He Set all 3 of his Trap Cards and passed.

Varasteh attacked directly with Rai-Oh to drop Clarey down to 6100 Life Points and Set a card to his back row.

Clarey drew Book of Moon. He Summoned Scrap Beast and attacked Thunder King Rai-Oh with it, then activated Book of Moon on Rai-Oh. Varasteh Chained Compulsory Evacuation Device targeting Scrap Beast, and Clarey used Solemn Judgment to negate it! Rai-Oh was turned face-down and destroyed in battle. In Main Phase 2, Clarey activated Pot of Duality to reveal Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Effect Veiler from the top of his Deck. He added the Mystical Space Typhoon to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck before ending his turn.

Varasteh tried to Summon Rescue Rabbit next turn, but its Summon was negated by Solemn Warning. Next, he activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Torrential Tribute, and used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Rescue Rabbit in Defense Position. Varasteh used Effect Veiler to negate its effect. Varasteh Set a card to his back row before ending his turn.

Clarey drew Photon Thrasher. He used Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Varasteh’s face-down Mirror Force and then attacked Rescue Rabbit with Scrap Beast to destroy it.

Varasteh Summoned Sabersaurus and attacked over Scrap Beast.

Clarey drew Scrap Chimera next turn! He Special Summoned his Thrasher and then Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera and used its effect to Special Summon Scrap Beast from his Graveyard. He Tuned Scrap Beast with Photon Thrasher to Summon Scrap Dragon and then attacked over Sabersaurus with his Scrap Dragon. Chimera scored a direct attack next, dropping Varasteh down to 5400 Life Points.

Varasteh Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and used its effect to Special Summon Sangan in Defense Position. He combined his Fiends to Summon Number 30: Acid Golem, and then attacked over Scrap Chimera to wipe out Clarey’s last 750 Life Points!

Clarey managed to Summon Scrap Dragon in Duel 1, but it was too late – his Life Points were low enough for Varasteh to wipe him out with an attack from Number 30: Acid Golem while Scrap Dragon was still on the field. Patrick Clarey will be going first in Duel 2!

Duel Two

Clarey opened up Duel 2 with Spirit Reaper, Scrap Beast, Solemn Judgment, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, and 2 copies of Effect Veiler. He Set Solemn Judgment and Spirit Reaper and then ended his turn.

Varasteh Normal Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh and attacked Clarey’s face-down Spirit Reaper to flip it face-up. He Set a card to his back row before passing.

Clarey drew Scrap Chimera and then Set Ryko.

Varasteh Set a monster and passed.

Clarey drew Call of the Haunted next turn. He Flip Summoned Ryko and used its effect to destroy Thunder King Rai-Oh before sending Meklord Emperor Wisel, Effect Veiler, and Pot of Duality from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he Normal Summoned Scrap Beast. Varasteh flipped Torrential Tribute; but Clarey paid 4000 Life Points to negate it with Solemn Judgment. Clarey Tuned Ryko with Scrap Beast next, in order to Summon Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Then he switched Spirit Reaper into Attack Position and attacked Varasteh’s face-down Kabazauls with Brionac to destroy it. Spirit Reaper attacked directly next, knocking a Tour Guide out of Varasteh’s hand. Clarey Set Call of the Haunted before ending his turn.

Varasteh Normal Summoned Doomcaliber Knight next turn. He attacked Spirit Reaper to drop Clarey down to 2400 Life Points and then Set a card to his back row.

Clarey drew Scrapstorm. He attacked Doomcaliber Knight with Brionac to destroy it, and then attacked directly with Spirit Reaper to drop Varasteh down to 7000 Life Points and discard a Kabazauls from Varasteh’s hand. Next, Clarey activated Call of the Haunted to Special Summon Scrap Beast from his Graveyard, and attacked directly with it. Varasteh fell to 5400 Life Points. Clarey Set Scrapstorm before ending his turn.

Varasteh Normal Summoned Kabazauls and attacked Scrap Beast; but Clarey flipped Scarpstorm to select Scrap Beast, send Scrap Chimera to the Graveyard, draw a card, destroy Scrap Beast, and return Scrap Chimera to his hand with his Beast’s effect. Varasteh Set a back row before ending his turn.

Clarey drew Scrapyard next turn and Varasteh flipped Macro Cosmos. Clarey Summoned Scrap Chimera and used its effect to Special Summon Scrap Beast from his Graveyard; but Varasteh cleared the field with Torrential Tribute!  Clarey Set Scrapyard before ending his turn.

Varasteh drew a card and Set it to his back row.

Clarey drew Dark Hole next turn. He Set Spirit Reaper and then ended his turn.

Varasteh drew Rescue Rabbit next turn and Summoned it! He Special Summoned 2 copies of Sabersaurus from his Deck and combined them to Summon Evolzar Dolkka. Dolkka attacked Clarey’s face-down Spirit Reaper.

Clarey drew Scrap Beast. He activated Dark Hole to clear the field and then he Set Scrap Beast before ending his turn.

Varasteh Set a card to his back row and passed.

Clarey drew Scrapstorm next turn. He Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera and then Flip Summoned Scrap Beast. Varasteh used Book of Moon to put Scrap Chimera face-down, and then Scrap Beast attacked directly to drop Varasteh down to 3800 Life Points. Clarey Set a card to his back row before passing.

Varasteh Set a monster and passed.

Clarey drew Photon Thrasher. He Flip Summoned Scrap Chimera and then activated Scrapyard to add a Scrap Beast from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned the Beast and then Tuned Scrap Chimera with Scrap Beast to Summon Scrap Dragon. He then used his Dragon’s effect to destroy Varasteh’s monster and his back row Scrapstorm. Direct attacks from Scrap Dragon and Scrap Beast ended the Duel and pushed the Match into Duel 3!

Duel Three

Varasteh started off Duel 3 by once again Summoning Thunder King Rai-Oh. He Set 2 cards to his back row before passing.

Clarey opened up with Bottomless Trap Hole, Effect Veiler, Scrap Beast, Scrap Chimera, Scrapstorm, and Mystical Space Typhoon. He Summoned his Beast and then Set Bottomless, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Scrapstorm to his back row. He lost Mystical Space Typhoon to Varasteh’s own Mystical Space Typhoon in his End Phase.

Varasteh attacked Scrap Beast with Rai-Oh next turn, but Clarey flipped Scrapstorm! He selected the Beast, sent a Scrap Chimera from his Deck to his Graveyard, drew Book of Moon, destroyed the Beast, and then returned Chimera to his hand with Beast’s effect. Rai-Oh attacked directly, and Varasteh Set a card to his back row before passing.

Clarey drew Photon Thrasher next turn. He tried to Special Summon it, and Varasteh negated its Summon with Thunder King Rai-Oh. Next, he Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera and used its effect to Special Summon Scrap Beast from his Graveyard. He attacked directly with Scrap Beast and Scrap Chimera to drop Varasteh down to 4700 Life Points and then Set Book of Moon to his back row in Main Phase 2. He Tuned his Scrap Beast with his Scrap Chimera to Summon Scrap Dragon and lost it to Bottomless Trap Hole.

Varasteh Summoned Kabazauls and lost it to Bottomless Trap Hole. He Set 2 back rows before passing.

Clarey drew Fiendish Chain and Set it.

Varasteh Summoned Sabersaurus and attacked with it to drop Clarey down to 4200 Life Points.

Clarey drew Mystical Space Typhoon and Set it. He used the Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Varasteh’s face-down Solemn Judgment and then Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera. He used his Chimera’s effect to Special Summon Scrap Beast from his Graveyard and then Tuned his monsters together to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon; but Varasteh used Compulsory Evacuation Device to return Scrap Dragon back to Clarey’s Extra Deck!

Varasteh attacked with Sabersaurus next turn, dropping Clarey down to 2300 Life Points. He Summoned Kabazauls in Main Phase 2 and combined Kabazauls with Sabersaurus to Summon Evolzar Laggia.

Clarey drew Scrap Chimera next turn! He activated Fiendish Chain on Laggia, and Varasteh negated it with Laggia’s effect. Then he Summoned Scrap Chimera and used its effect to Summon Scrap Beast, and Varasteh flipped Torrential Tribute to clear the field.

Varasteh Set a back row and passed.

Clarey drew and Set Call of the Haunted.

Varasteh Set a back row and passed.

Clarey drew Torrential Tribute and Set it.

Varasteh passed without making a play.

Clarey drew Scrap Beast and passed.

Varasteh Set a card to his back row and passed.

Clarey drew and activated Pot of Duality, revealing Royal Decree, Ryko, and Scrapstorm from the top of his Deck. He took the Scrapstorm and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Then he Normal Summoned Scrap Beast. Varasteh flipped Bottomless Trap Hole, Clarey Chained Scrapstorm, and Varasteh Chained Macro Cosmos. Clarey banished Scrap Beast from his Deck, drew Royal Decree, and then banished his Scrap Beast with Scrapstorm. He Set Royal Decree before ending his turn.

Varasteh Summoned Rescue Rabbit next turn, but Clarey used Book of Moon to put it face-down before he could use its effect. In his End Phase, Clarey flipped Call of the Haunted and Special Summoned Photon Thrasher.

Clarey drew another Photon Thrasher next turn. He attacked Rescue Rabbit with his Thrasher. Varasteh flipped Dimensional Prison, but Clarey Chained Royal Decree to negate it. Thrasher destroyed the Rabbit in battle.

Varasteh drew and Summoned another Rescue Rabbit next turn, and Clarey negated its effect with Effect Veiler.

Clarey drew Solemn Warning and then attacked over Rabbit with Thrasher, destroying it and dropping Varasteh down to 2900 Life Points.

Varasteh Set Kabazauls and passed.

Clarey drew Heavy Storm and attacked Kabazauls with Thrasher.

Varasteh Set a Sabersaurus.

Clarey destroyed Sabersaurus in battle with his Thrasher.

Varasteh Set another monster.

Clarey drew Mind Control! He activated Mind Control to take control of Varasteh’s face-down Doomcaliber Knight and then combined Doomcaliber Knight with Photon Thrasher to Xyz Summon Maestroke the Symphony Djinn. Maestroke attacked directly, dropping Varasteh down to 1100 Life Points.

Varasteh used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Evolzar Laggia and then attacked Maestroke, forcing it to detach an Xyz Material and dropping Clarey down to 1700 Life Points.

Clarey drew Effect Veiler. He switched Maestroke to Defense Position and ended his turn.

Varasteh attacked Maestroke with Laggia to force it to detach another Xyz Material.

Clarey drew and Set Spirit Reaper.

Varasteh attacked and destroyed Maestroke with Laggia.

Clarey drew Scrapyard and passed.

Varasteh Summoned Thunder King Rai-Oh and then attacked Clarey’s face-down Spirit Reaper to flip it face-up.

Clarey activated Heavy Storm to destroy all Spell & Trap Cards on the field, and then Set Bottomless Trap Hole and Solemn Warning. He Set Scrapyard next.

Varasteh Set a card to his back row and passed.

Clarey drew Monster Reborn and activated it to Special Summon Scrap Beast in Defense Position. He Set Scrapstorm before passing.

Varasteh attacked over Scrap Beast with Laggia, then used Forbidden Lance to target and destroy Spirit Reaper. Finally, a direct attack from Thunder King Rai-Oh wiped out Clarey’s last 1700 Life Points!
