Round 4 Round-Up
Welcome to Round 4! Take a look at 8 more undefeated Duelists!
At our first Featured Table, Nicholas Zorrilla used his Wind-Up Deck to defeat Philip Angeles’s Six Samurai Deck 2-1!
In Duel 1, Angeles used Book of Moon and Solemn Warning to try to hold off the Wind-Up Hunter loop, but Zorrilla eventually pulled off the loop to send all of the cards in Angeles’s hand to the Graveyard and seal a victory.
In Duel 2, Angeles opened up with 2 copies of Six Samurai United and Summoned Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En in the same turn. Backed by Solemn Judgment and a Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi that he Summoned later on, Angeles became unbeatable.
In Duel 3, Zorrilla took a slow victory by making small attacks with Spirit Reaper and Wind-Up Rabbit. Spirit Reaper slowly chipped away at Angeles’s hand while Wind-Up Rabbit did damage. When Zorrilla Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and used its effect to help make Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity, Zorrilla won the Duel.
At our second Featured Table, Gaetan Georges used his Dark World Deck to defeat Ronald Hinkel’s Ninja Dragon Deck 2-0!
In Duel 1, Georges used Dragged Down into the Grave, and Card Destruction on his first turn to trigger a bunch of powerful Dark World effects including the effects of Broww, Huntsman of Dark World and Snoww, Unlight of Dark World. It’s tough to recover from a start like that, and Hinkel couldn’t do it.
In Duel 2, Georges used Heavy Storm before Summoning Tour Guide From the Underworld and using Card Destruction to reach the same result that he did in Duel 1. Hinkel had Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror face-down, but it was blown away by the Storm.
[It’s important to Side Deck cards that will help you beat Dark World Decks, and Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror is usually a good choice. In this Duel, it didn’t work out for Hinkel because his Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror was destroyed by Georges’s Heavy Storm; but if Georges didn’t have the Heavy Storm, Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror could’ve stopped Georges in his tracks and shut down his turn by negating the effects of all of Georges’s Dark World monsters.]
At our third Featured Table, Australian Duelist Andrew Linou used his Wind-Up Deck to defeat Luis Bosque’s Inzektors 2-0!
In Duel 1, Bosque used Inzektor Dragonfly and Inzektor Ladybug to Summon Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja on his first turn!
[This is a cool new trick that Inzektor Ladybug adds to Inzektor Decks. Since you can add 2 Levels to a monster by sending Inzektor Ladybug to the Graveyard while it’s equipped to a monster, you can turn a Level 3 monster into a Level 5 monster. By equipping Inzektor Dragonfly with Inzektor Ladybug, you can then Special Summon another Level 3 Inzektor, like Inzektor Centipede, from your Deck with Dragonfly’s effect, and use that Inzektor’s effect to equip it with Inzektor Ladybug. Then you can use Inzektor Ladybug to turn that monster into a Level 5 monster, and perform a Rank 5 Xyz Summon.]
But Linou Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and used it to Special Summon Sangan from his Deck. He Set Compulsory Evacuation Device before ending his turn. Bosque used Mystical Space Typhoon on Compulsory Evacuation Device, and Linou Chained the Compulsory Evacuation Device to bounce Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja back to the Extra Deck. Next, he used the Inzektor Dragonfly / Inzektor Ladybug combo again to Summon another Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja, after first destroying Sangan and Tour Guide in battle with his 2 Level 3 Inzektors. Linou Summoned Wind-Up Magician and Wind-Up Shark next turn, using Wind-Up Magician to Summon another Wind-Up Magician. Bosque used Book of Moon to put the Shark face-down, and Linou combined his Magicians to Summon Number 39: Utopia and attack Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja in battle. Bosque detached an Xyz Material from his Ninja to have it protect itself. Bosque combo’d Inzektor Dragonfly with Inzektor Ladybug to Summon Tiras, Keeper of Genesis next turn, and then used Dark Hole to destroy Utopia while protecting Tiras and Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja. Then he put Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger on his Ninja and attacked directly with both monsters. Linou Summoned Gorz the Emissary of Darkness and an Emissary of Darkness Token on the second attack, but Bosque destroyed the Gorz with Tiras’s effect at the end of the Battle Phase. On his next turn, Linou used Mind Control to take control of Tiras and used it to Xyz Summon Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger. He also used Wind-Up Rat to help Summon Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity, used Zenmaity to Summon a Wind-Up Shark, used Monster Reborn to Special Summon Wind-Up Rat, and used the Rat to Summon another Shark. Finally, he combined his 2 Sharks to make Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon and take the first Duel!
In Duel 2, Bosque made early attacks with Inzektor Centipede, but while Bosque had no back row, Linou used Dark Hole to clear the field and pulled off the Wind-Up Hunter loop using Wind-Up Rat and Monster Reborn, securing his victory.
At our last Featured Table, Jerome Porter used his Dino Rabbit Deck to defeat Nathaniel Jadotte’s Six Samurai Deck 2-0!
In Duel 1, Jadotte had Spirit of the Six Samurai equipped to a Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan and had 2 face-down back rows on his first turn; Porter used Heavy Storm to destroy all of Jadotte’s back rows! Then he Summoned Sabersaurus and attacked Kizan to destroy it. Jadotte almost came back by using Gateway of the Six and Summoning Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En with Elder of the Six Samurai and Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, but after Jadotte negated Bottomless Trap Hole with Shi En, he attacked into Mirror Force, destroying Jadotte’s Attack Position Grandmaster and Shi En. Porter eventually won by Summoning Evolzar Laggia with Rescue Rabbit and using it to win the Duel.
[After the Match, Jadotte said that he wishes he had used Shi En’s effect to destroy Grandmaster of the Six Samurai and protect his Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En from Bottomless Trap Hole so that he’d still be able to negate Mirror Force with Shi En later in the turn.]
In Duel 2, Porter Normal Summoned back-to-back Tour Guides over 2 turns to Summon Number 17: Leviathan Dragon and Number 20: Giga-Brilliant. Monsters as strong as them are tough for Samurai Decks to beat, and Jadotte couldn’t handle the Giga-Brilliant, allowing Porter to win the Duel and the Match.
Nicholas Zorrilla, Gaetan Georges, Andrew Linou, and Jerome Porter are moving on with 4-0 records!
