Dragon Duel Top 4: Abhishek Khadka vs. Zachary Leverett
Virginia’s Abhishek just came off his Top 8 match, where he went totally crazy with Gravekeeper’s Spies! Zachary Leverett of Georgia has multiple finishes in Dragon Duel finals, and is looking to push his record further to the World Championship! The winner here will be travelling to Tokyo, Japan!
Leverett began with Kabazauls and four Set Spell or Trap Cards!
Khadka’s opening hand was 2 Gravekeeper’s Stele, Necrovalley, Torrential Tribute, and Effect Veiler. He drew Solemn Warning. He activated Necrovalley and Set everything but Effect Veiler.
Leverett had Kabazauls attack directly, then Set a monster.
Khadka drew Compulsory Evacuation Device. He Set it and ended.
Leverett sent Kabazauls to attack directly. When Khadka used his Evac Device on it, Leverett kept it in play with Forbidden Lance. He Set another back row and ended his turn.
Khadka drew Bottomless Trap Hole. He Normal Summoned his Effect Veiler and activated Torrential Tribute, but Leverett had another Forbidden Lance to keep Kabazauls around! Khadka Set Bottomless Trap Hole.
Leverett Set a back row and Kabazauls attacked directly, dropping Khadka down to 3700 Life Points.
Khadka drew and Set Solemn Judgment.
Leverett attacked directly once more with Kabazauls, and Set a fifth back row.
Khadka drew Solemn Warning and passed.
Leverett dropped Khadka to 300 with Kabazauls!
Khadka drew Royal Tribute, and conceded after having no way to take out the sneezing hippo!
Abhishek Khabka is countered at every turn as he tries to take out a lone Kabazauls, and Zachary Leverett rides it to victory!
Duel 2
Khadka started the second game with Royal Tribute, Gravekeeper’s Commandant, Dark Hole, Gravekeeper’s Recruiter, Compulsory Evacuation Device, and Spirit Reaper. He discarded Commandant to get Necrovalley and activated it. He Set his Evac Device, Dark Hole, and Reaper; then played Royal Tribute! Leverett lost Sangan and revealed Dimensional Prison, Bottomless Trap Hole, and 2 Mystical Space Typhoons.
Leverett used his two Typhoons to blow away Dark Hole and Evac Device, then Set two back row.
Khadka drew Gravekeeper’s Spy and Set it.
Leverett summoned Sabersaurus and Set a back row.
Khadka drew Gravekeeper’s Descendant. He flipped up Spy to Summon Recruiter from his Deck. When he Normal Summoned Descendant, Leverett banished it with Bottomless Trap Hole.
Leverett drew and Set a back row. Sabersaurus attacked and destroyed Spy, dealing 200 damage.
Khadka drew Snowman Eater. He turned Recruiter to defense position and passed.
Leverett Set a fourth back row and passed.
Khadka drew Gravekeeper’s Commandant. He Normal Summoned it, and Leverett banished it with Dimensional Prison when it attacked.
Leverett passed.
Khadka drew Descendant and Normal Summoned it, and Leverett activated Fiendish Chain!
Leverett attacked Descendant with Sabersaurus and weakened Descendant with Forbidden Lance! Lance lowered Descendant’s ATK and made it lose its Necrovalley boost.
Khadka drew Bottomless Trap Hole and Set it.
Leverett summoned Rescue Rabbit and banished it for 2 Sabersauruses. They were banished by Khadka’s Bottomless Trap Hole and Leverett passed.
Khadka drew another Necrovalley.
Leverett passed.
Khadka drew Gozen Match! He Set it and ended.
Leverett passed.
Khadka drew and played Pot of Duality! He revealed Spirit Reaper, Solemn Warning, and Dimensional Prison. He thought for a while and chose Prison to add to his hand, then Set it.
Leverett activated Heavy Storm! He destroyed Khadka’s Prison and Gozen Match, and his own Solemn Warning and Monster Reborn. He followed up with Tour Guide From the Underworld! He summoned another Tour Guide and overlayed it for Leviair the Sea Dragon! That let him bring back Rescue Rabbit, which brought out 2 Kabazauls. He overlayed the Kabazauls for Evolzar Dolkka, then finally entered his Battle Phase. Sabersaurus took out Recruiter, which gave Khadka another Recruiter. (Leverett chose not to negate it.) Dolkka attacked into the Spirit Reaper (the same one that had been sitting there since the first turn!), and Leverett passed.
Khadka drew Solemn Judgment. He played another Necrovalley and Set Recruiter.
Leverett detached from Leviair to get Sabersaurus, then overlayed his 2 Sabersauruses for Evolzar Laggia, but Khadka negated the Summon with Judgment.
Khadka drew a second Snowman Eater, and Set one of them.
Leverett wiped the field with Dark Hole! He Summoned and attacked directly with Kabazauls and Set 2 back row.
Khadka drew Spy and Set Snowman Eater.
Leverett passed.
Khadka Set Spy and the Torrential Tribute he drew.
Leverett passed.
Khadka drew Reaper and Set it.
Leverett Set a monster and a back row.
Khadka drew another Torrential Tribute. He flipped up Snowman Eater, and Leverett wiped the field with a Torrential Tribute of his own! Khadka Set his second Torrential Tribute.
Leverett Set a monster and passed.
Khadka drew Malefic Stardust Dragon and passed.
Leverett passed.
Khadka drew Spy and Set it.
Leverett Set a back row.
Khadka drew Gozen Match. He flipped up Spy to get Descendant, which was banished by Bottomless Trap Hole. He Set Gozen.
Leverett Set a back row.
Khadka drew Gravekeeper’s Stele. He Set it.
Leverett flipped Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy one of the Torrentials. Then he flipped up Royal Decree! He flipped Snowman Eater to destroy Spy, then Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld, with no more monsters to Summon with it. He overlayed Tour Guide with Snowman Eater for Number 30: Acid Golem and attacked to finish Khadka off!
Zachary Leverett doesn’t lose a single Life Point in the entire match! He’s heading to Tokyo, Japan, for the very first Dragon Duel World Championship!
