Tyler Tabman of Overland Park, Kansas, has been on a roll as of late, having made the top 32 of both YCS Chicago and YCS Philadelphia recently. He’s relying on Wind-Ups to take him to the top. Detroit’s Sean Montague has a number of accomplishments, including winning this very tournament in 2010! He’s brought Dino Rabbit today.

Duel 1

Montague Set a monster and a back row.

Tabman opened with 2 Wind-Up Rabbit, Heavy Storm, Spirit Reaper, and 2 Instant Fusion. He Set Reaper.

Montague flipped up his Sabersaurus, summoned Kabazauls, and Xyz Summoned Evolzar Dolkka! When Dolkka attacked, it couldn’t take down Tabman’s Reaper.

Tabman drew Solemn Judgment. He played Heavy Storm, and Montague Chained Forbidden Lance to target and destroy Reaper.

Montague’s Solemn Warning was also destroyed by Storm. Tabman’s Instant Fusion let him Fusion Summon Dragoness the Wicked Knight, then he Normal Summoned Wind-Up Rabbit. He overlayed them for Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction, taking down Dolkka in battle! He Set Judgment and ended.

Montague used Soul Taker to destroy Acid Golem, then summoned Jurrac Guaiba and attacked directly.  He Set two back row.

Tabman drew Mystical Space Typhoon. He summoned Wind-Up Rabbit, and Montague took it out with Solemn Warning.

Montague attacked directly again with Guaiba. He Set a Bottomless Trap Hole, then lost it in the End Phase thanks to Tabman’s Mystical Space Typhoon.

Tabman drew Tour Guide From the Underworld, summoned it to get Sangan, and Xyz Summoned Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity. He detached Sangan from Zenmaity to summon Wind-Up Rat from his Deck, and Rat gave him Wind-Up Rabbit from his Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned another Zenmaity, detached Rabbit to get another Rat, that Rat brought Rabbit back again, and they were used for a third Zenmaity! It detached Rabbit to bring out Wind-Up Shark. Tabman used Instant Fusion to Fusion Summon Cyber Saurus! Shark changed to Level 5, and Shark and Cyber Saurus were overlayed for  Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon! Adreus blew away Guaiba, and Tabman sent all of his monsters to attack directly. Montague tried to survive with Dimensional Prison, but Tabman’s Solemn Judgment guaranteed his victory!

Tabman makes multiple awesome moves with Instant Fusion, then finished with one big push with all of his copies of Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity!

Duel 2
Montague started off with Tour Guide From the Underworld, bringing Sangan out in defense position. He Set two back row.

Tabman’s opening hand was Dimensional Prison, Bottomless Trap Hole, Tour Guide From the Underworld, Snowman Eater, Sangan, and Soul Taker. He summoned Sangan and crashed it into Montague’s Tour Guide, activating Sangan‘s effect and adding Spirit Reaper to his hand. He Set both of his Traps and ended the turn.

Montague summoned a Reaper of his own! Sangan and Reaper attacked directly, and Tabman banished Reaper with Dimensional Prison.

Tabman drew Wind-Up Shark. He Set Reaper.

Montague attacked Reaper with Sangan, then passed.

Tabman drew another Shark. He Set Soul Taker.

Montague summoned Jurrac Guaiba, and attacked Spirit Reaper with it. He used Forbidden Chalice to negate Reaper’s effect, and Guaiba took it down in battle! Guaiba Summoned another Guaiba from Montague’s Deck, and Sangan attacked directly. In Main Phase 2, he Xyz Summoned Evolzar Laggia! He Set two more back row.

Tabman drew Wind-Up Rabbit. He Set Snowman Eater and ended his turn.

Montague stole Tabman’s Reaper with Monster Reborn! When Sangan attacked Snowman Eater, Snowman Eater destroyed Laggia! Unable to get over Snowman Eater’s DEF, Montague passed.

Tabman drew Mirror Force. He Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld, brought another one out, and Xyz Summoned Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity. Montague wiped the field with Torrential Tribute, and Montague got a Tour Guide for himself with his Sangan. Tabman Set Mirror Force.

Montague blew away Mirror Force with Mystical Space Typhoon, then Summoned his own Tour Guide. He brought out a second, then Xyz Summoned Leviair the Sea Dragon. Tabman tried to banish it with Bottomless Trap Hole, but Montague saved it with Forbidden Lance. Leviair brought back Reaper, and both monsters attacked directly. Reaper snatched a Wind-Up Shark from Tabman’s hand.

Tabman drew Dust Tornado. He destroyed Reaper with Soul Taker, then Set Dust Tornado.
Montague attacked with Leviair and ended.

Tabman drew Bottomless Trap Hole and passed.

Leviair attacked again, dropping Tabman to just 300! Montague had 8100, thanks to Soul Taker.

Tabman Set his Wind-Up Rabbit he drew, just trying to survive.

Montague Summoned Rescue Rabbit, brought out 2 Kabazauls, and they got hit by Bottomless Trap Hole. He seemed to think the Set Wind-Up Rabbit was something that it wasn’t, because he opted not to attack.

Tabman drew Wind-Up Rat. He Summoned it, then Special Summoned his Shark from his hand. Montague flipped Shark down with Book of Moon AND negated Rat with Effect Veiler! Tabman tried to continue by flipping up Wind-Up Rabbit and overlaying Rabbit and Rat for Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity, but he walked right into Solemn Judgment! Tabman conceded from there, knowing he had no way to mount a comeback.

Duel 3
Tabman started off with a hand of Wind-Up Rat, Wind-Up Shark, Heavy Storm, Monster Reborn, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Wind-Up Magician. He Summoned Magician, Special Summoned Shark, and Special Summoned Wind-Up Hunter with Magician. He Tributed Magician with Hunter to toss a card from Montague’s hand, then Xyz Summoned Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity. Zenmaity brought out Rat, which brought back Hunter, and the combination of Rat, Hunter, and Zenmaity were repeatedly Summoned and Tributed to take away Montague’s Forbidden Lance, Solemn Warning, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Jurrac Guaiba! Tabman’s field at the end of the combo was Hunter and Rat, and he Xyz Summoned Number 17: Leviathan Dragon with them. He detached Hunter to boost Leviathan’s ATK. Then he used Monster Reborn on Hunter, Set Mystical Space Typhoon, and ended.

Montague could only Set a Forbidden Lance, and lost it right away to Tabman’s Typhoon.

Tabman drew Dimensional Prison. He attacked directly with Leviathan and Hunter, then Set Prison and Heavy Storm.
Montague tried to send a Sabersaurus after Hunter, and when it got hit by Dimensional Prison, Montague conceded!
